Raider Rumble

Topic ID: 10170 | 132 Posts

Okay the Rumble one of the best tournys in the state is only a couple weeks alway , any discussion on matchups teams and the like c'mon people its wrestling season :)I won't even argue lol

Sorry if this has already been posted, but what teams will be attending this year?

I've heard the grapevine that Johnny Meiman isn'twrestling this year ? Again I'm not starting rumors or anything like that but I talked with a pretty reliable sourse that said it just wasn't what he wanted to do this year ? His dad seems like a very nice guy and if this is true I wish Johnny the best in whatever he decides to do.

Sorry to hear that if its true Meiman has huge potential , on the other hand it could actually change things a bit as far a who places where or goes where particularly come state time .

As for the Rumble what teams are expected to participate this yr , not much talk about such a great tournament ,

Not True.

I would find the rumor about Meiman hard to believe, I spoke with his dad just a few weeks ago and he indicated how anxious Johnny was to get to wrestling season once he wrapped up football season. I would be very surprised, he has worked very hard for so long. Guess we shall see soon.....

I did notice he was not on their weight assessment, but then there are many teams and individual kids that aren't in yet.

He was at practice last night and at the scrimmage on Saturday in great spirits and ready to roll.  Just hasn't done the fat test yet.  Trust me, all is good.

He was at practice last night and at the scrimmage on Saturday in great spirits and ready to roll.  Just hasn't done the fat test yet.  Trust me, all is good.

Glad to hear it ! He's a potential state champion.

I don't know all the teams, but I do believe Harrison and Princeton from Cincinnati will be attending this year.

What weight is Meiman?  Princeton has Kowal at 160/170 so that could be a good match.

What weight is Fausz this year?  Princeton also has Selmon at 126/132, so potenitally another good match up.

Not sure of Harrison's line up but they usually have solid kids throughout.

Anyone know if they are doing a live internet feed this year? I enjoyed watching last year.

I'm pretty sure they are having the live feed

These are the teams I know of. Princeton, Harrison, kenton ridge, Columbus east, CC, trinty, st. X, Moore, ryle, Conner, glen este, Scott, south oldham, Henry clay, south dearborn, union, waton Verona.

Oh yeah:)

Woodford

Woodford , Boston , Carr , the Lawson's and my man Wyatt

Okay Lawson's are one and out shows what I know , on the other hand look who came back to stay baby ATM wins out yesterday Sam gets a w today and Jesse has his first ever next week , time to start bustin it

Love the rumble glad my little ones first ever tourny is there maybe one day he grabs the ow like his older bro did last yr , love it

Now that the week is here anyone care to take a shot at the top teams and kids in each weight class.  Could see some possible state semi-finals and final match ups this weekend.  Good luck to everyone going.

Being early in the year we could see some match ups you wouldnt see at state because of weight cert and what not ,could be very interesting such an awesome tournament ,Dont know anything about columbus east but the other Ohio teams are or have been tough in the past Harrison and Princeton are always solid with great coaches and usually a standout wrestler or two ,Glen este as well not sure who their new coach is their old one Roush was very good and a class act as well is at Elder now ,

Last year Cooper and the Union studs were at Iron Man hopefully we see them this yr I know cooper is at chatanooga ,got to see him wrestle once this year looked very good at cumberland ,

Lower weights could see some big big matchups ,not sure if SK is there could see reg 6 220s battling it out ,

Meiman Turner Courtney Mathews matches could be barnburners if they match up .

its gonna be a big weekend of wrestling in and for KY ,Raider Rumble and Midwest classic for LW ,

hold up, union county will be there?

hold up, union county will be there?

Every year

If Frankrone is there from Trinity I'm interested in seeing how he does and weight he wrestles at. There will be very good matches all day long. Too many to list really. I also want to see how Courtney does with Matthews and I've heard there will be a few really good ones from Ohio there as well hmm, (106) Scheffer from Union vs Branson Glen Este (113) Binder (stx) vs fallon (wc) and smith (120) I'll take Boston against anyone (126) Blackwell (UC)  and Duncan (TR)  (132) Ervin (uc) , Erdman (Ryle) ,Heidorf (Trinity),  Siccurella from Glen Este (138) Fausz (145) Brown (WA) vs Kahl (TR) (152) Lampe (ST X vs Gahafer (UC (160 )Lampe (ST X) vs logan Jones (WA) interested to see if Kowal from Princeton wrestles 160 or 170  I'm thinking he wrestles (170 )against Meiman (RYLE) and Turner (CC) (182) Matthews (CC) vs Courtney (WC)with a huge sleeper in Frankrone (TRINITY) but I believe he will wrestle (195) and take the weight class against a very strong Trevor Thompson (CON) but don't count out the lone eagle in my forecast with Miller but I still think Miller ends up 3rd. (220) A slight edge to Austin Myers (CC) the slight edge is because the others in the field team up against him but still all go down. I don't know anything about the heavyweights but one of the Ohio boys will win jmho unless Campbells big boy (Sinclair) OR Brown (UC) have great days and surprises everyone ..Good luck all

Team Union CC Woodford but I don't know about the Ohio schools but I would assume that Princeton and Glen Este will be pretty darn good. I don't know anything about Columbus East

These are some of the tough KY kids and the weight they will most likely be at;

106- Wells (cc), Hurst (wc), Siddons (Moore)

113- Sheffer (uc), Bindner (stx), Hall (Moore), Hernandez (hclay), Fallon (wc)

120- Boston (wc), Hernandez (hclay), December (uc), Poynter (Moore), Erdman (Ryle)

126- Blackwell (uc), Duncan (trin), Sparh (cc), Carr (wc), Frank (Scott)

132- Ervin (uc), Heidorf (trin), Erdman (Ryle), Haddad (stx)

138- Fausz (cc), Oxford (uc), Korfhage (stx), Barton (trin)

145- Brown (walt), Whalen (hclay), Kahl (trin), Andreoni (wc)

152- Lampe (stx), Gahefer (uc)

160- Lampe (stx), Jones (walt)

170- Meiman (Ryle), Turner (cc), Miozza (trin), Smith (Moore), Morris (uc)

182- Matthews (cc), Courtney (wc), Frankrone (trin)

195- Thompson (conn), Stevens (trin), Graziani (cc)

220- Myers (cc), carter (uc)

Hwt- Brown (uc), Sinclair (cc), Davis (sold), Whaley (Moore)

*this is an absolute stacked tournament. Those are some tough kids and I'm sure I forgot to put some on there, but with the out of state competition it will be CRAZY! 113, 120, 145, 182 look like the toughest weights there this weekend.

Kind of a pre season dragon.. but yea don't leave out Elijiah Miller from Scott at 195. He finished 4th last at year the horse park at 195. As mentioned above I still think Frankrone will be a wildcard and even Turner and Matthews for this tourney at what weights they will wrestle. We shall find out very soon ! Good break down Kentucky and best of luck to all you guys !

Returning regional qualifiers for Columbus East:

106 Will Conner  sectional runner up

113 Jake Martindale 3rd sectional

126 Dalton Noblitt sectional champ  regional runner up  3rd semi-state ranked 5th in state at 132

138 Cody Reichenba 3rd sectional

160 Maurice Dantzier 3rd sectional

Usually a tough team with one of the best football programs in the state of Indiana. Lots of athletes and they tend to replace their losses rather well.

I believe lafayette will be there. If so, I'd take young at 285

Every year

not when i was there.

Don't know anything about the KY kids, but I can give some info on the OH kids and what weights they have been at.

Sicurella from Glen Este and Selmon from Princeton were both at 132 last week.  Selmon beat Sicurella in a close match at Harrison.  I would guess that at least one of them, probably Selmon, will be at 126 soon.

Branson from Glen Este looks really strong at 113, best I've ever seen him wrestle.

Also look out for Max Davis from Glen Este at 145/152 - was injured last year but is a very solid wrester.

Kowal of Princeton and another Princeton kid (Smith?) both wrestled 170 at Harrison last week and looked very good.  Kowal bumped up against some of the better teams and beat some good kids at 182, so I doubt he has started to cut to 160 yet.  Smith is obviously benefiting from wrestling Kowal at practice, because he appears to be much improved from last year.  Smith looked undersized at 170, so I would guess he drops to 160.

Kenton Ridge brings a very good team too. Preston Bowsier is a state runner up and has been wrestling 138.  Sowards is also tough at 145, and they have quite a few other guys (Armstrong, Cochran brothers) who will likely be high placers.

Can anyone tell me about the format of the tournament?  Pools of 4 and then a bracket?  Also, what time will the finals be and will there be a break before?

I'm going to try and predict the champs;

106- out of state kid, maybe hurst (wc) or wells (cc)

113- Sheffer (uc) or Glen Este kid

120- Boston (wc) hands down

126- Blackwell (uc) or Columbus east kid

132- out of state kid, maybe Heidorf (trin) since Brock will be at Ironman

138- Fausz (cc) hands down

145- Whalen (hclay), but Andreoni (wc), Brown (walt), or Kahl (trin) could win. Real toss up weight class

152- Lampe (stx) hands down

160- Lampe (stx) or out of state kid

170- Turner (cc) or out of state kid (always tough upper weights at raider rumble)

182- real toss up also. I see Matthews (cc) and Courtney (wc) in the finals.

195- out of state kid, Thompson (conn) will compete

220- Myers (cc) hands down

Hwt- out of state kid or Brown (uc)

138- Fausz (cc) hands down

Have you ever seen Bowsier of Kenton Ridge wrestle?  I know Fausz is the real deal, but Bowsier is tough and this will be a closer match than you realize,

I think we posted at the same time. Yes I saw him wrestle Jordan in the state finals last year and you have to be tough to make it there. I think we will see a great finals in every weight class. But yes he is very tough kid

Columbus East kid is ranked 3rd now at 132

I watched Preston Bashear from Kenton Ridge, and he is very tough.  Tyler Sowards from Kenton Ridge was pretty tough last year at 145.

He is and always has been a tough wrestler ,did you see him at nat last year jcb, your boy was tough as nails there very entertaining .

I'm going to try and predict the champs;

106- out of state kid, maybe hurst (wc) or wells (cc)

113- Sheffer (uc) or Glen Este kid

120- Boston (wc) hands down

126- Blackwell (uc) or Columbus east kid

132- out of state kid, maybe Heidorf (trin) since Brock will be at Ironman

138- Fausz (cc) hands down

145- Whalen (hclay), but Andreoni (wc), Brown (walt), or Kahl (trin) could win. Real toss up weight class

152- Lampe (stx) hands down

160- Lampe (stx)

170- Turner (cc) or out of state kid (always tough upper weights at raider rumble)

182- real toss up also. I see Matthews (cc) and Courtney (wc) in the finals.

195- out of state kid, Thompson (conn) will compete

220- Myers (cc) hands down

Hwt- out of state kid or Brown (uc)

Here I'll do mine . Just a few changes from yours but changes none the less

106- out of state kid,  R/up  wells (cc)

113- Sheffer (uc) or Glen Este kid

120- Boston (wc) hands down

126- Blackwell (uc)

132- Heidorf (trin) is great but Columbus East kid for the win here

138- Fausz (cc) is great !!! but I'm going with Bowsier from Princeton for the championship by a slim margin

145- Brown (Walton)

152- Lampe (stx)

160- Lampe (stx) with Logan Jones right on his tail

170- Meiman (Ryle defeats Kowal from  Princeton great match up but watch out for Dustin Turner if he gets to the finals he will win.

182- Matthews (cc) unless Frankrone wrestles here then I'm going with him (Have you seen the kid lol ? ) BEAST/MONSTER

195- Thompson (conn) OR Frankrone if this is the weight class he wrestles he wins but my man Trevor Thompson is a Beast himself

220- Myers (cc)

Hwt- out of state kid to win runner up Brown (uc)  our picks are basically the same here

Here I'll do mine . Just a few changes from yours but this is not easily done this early in the year because gosh knows who will be at what weights

Bowshier doesnt wrestle for Princeton unless he transfered or moved south or something ,

Bowshier is a great tough wrestler not sure i would take him over Fausz ,surprised any  Kentuckian  would ???????

ATM air is fueling up ,LOL

meant Kenton ridge for Bowsier .. was typing too fast and thinking of Kowal against Turner and Meiman or Matthews vs Courtney  wow a lot of great great matches even Belk from 160 from Ryle needs to be mentioned here as he may pull an upset or two ... however everyone's allowed to pick a few upsets right ?  wish I could be there I've got to work. Tell ATM to rip em up as I'm sure he will. Will be one heckuva a tourney though..... Just because I pick someone doesn't mean I'm rooting against them such as Fausz who yes is a beast in his own right or Warwick from Conner (182) or Trevor Thompson (195) love these guys etc etc..... and what weight is Frankrone going to wrestle lol... ? It's like a big secret or something heck he may be in there against Austin but if he's 182 he's the most physically gifted kid that I've ever seen at that weight class. He's built like JJ Jude was only a few inches taller.

Its all good we know your ok ,still surprised by your pick,More power to him if hes 220,the powers that be seem to think atm should go 195 he certed well below that mid eighties i believe ,

Look to the upper left corner of this post and you will get the picture as for built"thats Chakonis whom all the buckeye doubters said would beat down Austin last year, good thing he has his landing gear down " i am betting anyone that was at franklin would say the kid ATM beat in the finals was built as well or better ,just a hunch ,built and appearances do not matter as much as true power  and hips ,I am built waaaay better than ATM :) and he would splatter me it seems the bigger they are the better he gets but if they want him now while hes batered up from Football ,He always sells out at the end of the year in football starts his wrestling season slow and snowballs to the end of the season ,HE pinned through last yr i think and didnt get the ow ,Steph and Shaun got them there ,i think he will consider this his home tourny he likes it and knows this is the best one in NKY i like it as much or more than   any in the area including southern Ohio .

No one compares to Austin and I mean no one ... but look at Mike Frankrones profile pic about Tyler and you'll see what I mean about being a monster size wise . Especially if he's 182 .. I'll post his pic on my profile pic just so everyone knows what I mean but just for a day then my nephews is going there !

I think wells (cc) and hurst will probably be 2/3 seeds so they should meet in the semi's. I don't think wells can beat hurst. They wrestled this summer and it was pretty one sided. It was only a takedown tournament but pretty one sided.

Kenton Ridge kid is solid but Fausz will probably be his toughest competition of the year. Fausz could go to a lot of tough states and compete for a title. Kid is the real deal. Excited for Saturday. And there are very very few big guys who can wrestle with Austin Myers. He's like a 140lber in a mans body. So quick and technical

I can show you a picture of a 275 510 ripped shredded monster and Austin would pin him :) in the first, power and appearance are sometimes different but to a trained eye most would look at Austin and see where his power lies ,thick hips huge legs thick back long arms for snatching retreating legs traps and even an abb or two at times lol just hyping him up ,count those plates thats ten and he can hit twelve and wants 14 before he leaves CC he will get it .

Like to see him at 220 some big boys moving up might add some other aspects to the class different looks different styles different moves ,and you never know as you said but Austin is not the type to rest on his accomplishments or let others con him into resting on them same outcome he goes undefeated in KY this and every year Newbury couldnt do it Bryant was smart enough not to try it and Frankone or Frankenstein isnt about to change whats coming .

Here I'll do mine . Just a few changes from yours but changes none the less

I think Miller will definitely beat Thompson.

As you should being a teamate of his or uncle or parent or faculty member or whatever .... but the facts are they wrestled twice last year and Trevor easily pinned him both times never even going into the 3rd period. I like Miller and I did mention him in one of my above posts but when it comes to Thompson... Doesn't look good but we will let Saturday decide that. I wish all the guys good luck and I hope that Miller and Shwachter can do well in this very tough tourney.

I'm going to try and predict the champs;

106- out of state kid, maybe hurst (wc) or wells (cc)

113- Sheffer (uc) or Glen Este kid

120- Boston (wc) hands down

126- Blackwell (uc) or Columbus east kid

138- Fausz (cc) hands down

145- Whalen (hclay), but Andreoni (wc), Brown (walt), or Kahl (trin) could win. Real toss up weight class

Young from Lafayette pinned Brown last year in first period.  Young was second in state as a freshman at heavyweight.

Blackwell and Ervin will be at Ironman so you can take them out of your predictions.

Also I don't see Miller beating Thompson either. Has Miller ever beat Thompson in the season? I know he beat him once after state last year, but other than that Trevor has pinned him the last two times they wrestled. At Regional, Trevor was up 14-0 before he pinned in the third.

Well we are gonna find out come sat ,that is if they dont go a different weight or someone else beats them before they reach each other .

now whos gonna win the team race .

Well we are gonna find out come sat ,that is if they dont go a different weight or someone else beats them before they reach each other .

now whos gonna win the team race .

With Blackwell and Brock at ironman I'm taking CC for all the cash and prizes and Woodford to come in runner up followed by Princeton and Glen Este and Columbus East and Ryle

I would agree if everyone is where they should be but i have no clue ,Woodford lost the Lawsons ,Gained a Carr ,Ryle should start to become a force again they have a young talented team ,Just me i am wondering who wins between Ryle and SK this yr i know sk isnt there just a daydreaming thopught of mine ,also looking forward to seeing this Frankone ,I always heard of Jude and he did not disapoint really he was a specimen but not really the best technical wrestler in the room or in his class in my opinion saw him have a close match with a smaller wrestler at state Canter i think it was ,

Princeton has some talent im sure little Selmon is there and their coach is one of the hardest working in southern Ohio as far as getting his kids matches and work and his assistants are top notch as well all students as well as teachers and great fans of the sport .

I'm just curious as to what weight Frankrone  will wrestle and of course on how he does. He beat French in a wrestle off last year at 160 then finished 3rd in a tourney and I never heard of him the rest of the season but then I saw him at the horsepark and he's huge not Austin huge more like JJ Jude huge... the picture on my profile is not frankrone that's my nephew Braden Jones who in his own right is a beast of his own. But other than CC this weekend I have no clue on expectations as far as team results they were really just guesses after CC .

Hurst won't be beat....Neither will Boston or Courtney.......Just sayin'  !!!!!!!   Another sure thing is ATM and Sean Fauz !!!!!!

ThirdRound I agree with you. But I'm almost positive there will be at least a few out of state kids who will push these guys. Boston and Myers should coast to victory though

And now that Blackwell is at ironman also, Duncan (trin) should be tough.. Don't know much on Carr, but I bet he is tough.

Gettin close a great tourny Last yrs upper weight OW just got nationally ranked in NAIA wrestling his first chance coming in at 11 at 149,and yes i am proud papa LOL .Looking forward to seeing Kowal and where hes at along with Boshier good hard nosed kids i have talked to over the years .

Imho Thirdround ...............I know Courtney is a fantastic wrestler who can flat scramble but I'm saying he loses to Matthews and or with Frankrone still being the wildcard to win and Courtney may even lose another match or 2 bottom line I say he finishes 3rd providing Matthews and Frankrone are at 182. Guess we will find out Saturday. Boston and ATM I agree won't be beat nor will thy be beat all year. But don't think I'm knocking Courtney he's darn good probably a top 5 in a very strong 182 class here in the bluegrass.

Courtney is a class act one cool dude you can't help but like him , Mathews is straight up beast it should be good ,

Mpire - yes, there is still a Selmon at Princeton.  Was 132 last week but I'm guessing 126 this weekend.

I don;t think Kowal can drop to 160 yet, so he should be at 170.

Bowsier of Kenton Ridge should be at 138.  I would expect Bowsier - Fausz to be one of the best matches of the tournament.  Hope we all get to see it.

Forgot to mention that Glen Este also has a strong, experienced 182 (Kennedy) who could be in the mix.

Just a hunch ,i wouldnt be surprised to see Boston at 126 ,no reason to stay 120 all yr with him going off to college next yr i am betting he wrestles up a bit here and there this yr to get a feel for the bigger kids .

Just a hunch, I think he stays 120 cause he likes that high national ranking. If he goes 126 I'm sure he would drop some. Either way, in Kentucky I don't think it will make much difference in his competition between 120 and 126. And they have Carr at 126, might be better for team for him to stay at 120

I think Boston's competition is raised considerably if he goes 126, mainly due to Blackwell. Boston may win 9 of 10, but Trae is the real deal. Oklahoma doesn't sign middle of the road kids.

Wish I could be there, but I have the MS Bearcat Brawl I have to be at.

Trae is not in the Rumble if hes at Iron Man ,and Iowa State doesnt either i would guess!!!

There is no 120 or 220 in college ,kids like Boston and Austin will have to either go up or down to get a feel for it.

Cyclones :)

I kind of just thought of something . I'm thinking Trevor Thompson may be at 220 at the rumble just because of weight. He will get to 195 but I'm thinking he will be over for this early tourney.

Probably he has been 220 in the past .

Either way regardless of a couple at Iron Man and a few top teams missing , The majority of Kys best will be at Ryle this weekend the nations top ranked HS wrestler at 120 ,and the nations top ranked 220lb Jr and 2x nat champ along with a Fargo AA and a handful if state ranked number ones ,everyone competing in one of the best if not the best tournament in the state ,

Trevor will be at 220. Lost to Scales from Colerain last night 7-3.

He will weight under 201, his descent plan has him here, at the Rumble so he will be giving up some considerable weight. With that being said he will finish top two.

I'm probably the only one on this site that thinks Trae would beat Boston.

Also I can't wait to watch Logan Erdman wrestle this weekend! Its been little over a year and half since I got to see him compete. Heard he looked great last night from some of my Conner peeps.

Also will Johnny Meimen be at 182 Saturday? Him and Matthews would be an EPIC match! Even more so if Frankrone is their as well.

I CANT WAIT FOR THE RUMBLE!

Pretty sure no Kenton ridge so no amazing match up with Fausz and bowshier

And don't forget about Grundy. Always tough team

Pretty sure no Kenton ridge so no amazing match up with Fausz and bowshier

It's on Kenton Ridge's schedule - they will be there.

Scales from Colerain is ranked num 1 in Ohio thats pretty good ,Scales and Austin should meet up at Fairfield old friends and two state num 1s , im sure with all the Austin bashing done on some of the ohio boards he will be training hard for it as will Scales ,Just as im sure he will now consider his match with Trevor a measuring stick ,two Ky friends and sometime partners who should make finals they didnt look friendly in last yrs match at the Rumble they looked like two wrestlers out to win ,it will be a good one again .

On the email Ruschell (Ryle coach) sent out Kenton ridge was not on there. 18 teams total

One last prediction=cc team win and overall a great tournament !

I don;t know anyone personally from Kenton Ridge to call and ask...but their team facebook page says they're coming.  Hope it's not a surprise to Ryle when they show up to wrestle

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kenton-Ridge-Cougar-Wrestling/124013391043418

Mpire- When is Fairfield? I heard last night that he was also on his descent to 195 and weighed around 210. Not sure when he will be allowed to make 195 but would love to see him compete against Austin. I give Austin the edge in the match up.

Last years match between Trevor and Austin was super intense. I think the ref had to tell both boys to keep it clean after they went out of bounds. I don't know about you, but I love in-your-face wrestling.

On the email Ruschell (Ryle coach) sent out Kenton ridge was not on there. 18 teams total

If you go to trackwrestling and to the raider rumble event page, kenton ridge is entered

He is teams listed on trackwrestling.

Not sure when it is a couple weeks after xmas i think ,Austin had a couple Ohio ranked guys there who placed last yr he gave up one score on a slip from a two on one one of only two he gave up in season last yr but he had no real trouble with anyone ..Tegray could be different im sure there are some in Ohio who would love to see Their num 1 beat Austin and others who still consider him their num 1 LOL ,Colerain was always good to us even after we left a great place with a great AD and good wrestling history /not in wins but in class and caring a great place to start .But I would want Austin to handle things of course .

Yes Trevor and Austins match was very exciting for a very short time ,as for Austin he was clean from the get go just think Trevor was a caged tiger and came after it ,it was all good and what one would expect but as for the out come i dont think it made it to the second period if so i know it never made the third .

And i give the edge to Austin against Tegray ,Austin has been the best Wrestler in cincy since he was six and won state as a first yr wrestler ,then won state at the first ever oac grade school state the next yr ,then went on and on and on best record in grade school best in Jr high and now best in HS ,

HE will not lose .

Tegray is at Iron Man and its very likely he leaves a better wrestler but not Ohio num 1 at 220 ,and despite some peoples jabs about kys best being at ironman i think Austin could and would leave Iron Man still undefeated if he was 100%,And i think Kys best should be at the Rumble pumping up in state tournys rather than out of state where their fate is not always in their own hands but those of some bias officials ,not just my ranting but a fact that any parent coach or wrestler who watched all the matches in ohio last yr with KY teams in it could back up ..Either way Austin went undefeated in Ohio last yr had five staright pins at gmva and beat every ranked ohio kid he wrestled easily at one point or the other ,the last ohio kid to beat Austin is wrestling at Ohio state .

enough propaganda LOL

Last yr i would have said Trae could give Boston a match this yr i am not so sure NOT because Boston won a big match and got ranked first but because i saw him wrestle months back and hang with and actually beat very good bigger wrestlers who i think would handle Trae ,not taking sides and i havent seen trae since nat duals JMO .

As for Tegray dropping im not so sure he has some thunder and to knock off ATM would launch him into the rankings and make him a state hero ,the guys in the south in ohio are usually bullied by the north it wont be another of their guys to take a fall so they will push for it ,for ATM its another shot at a state num 1 and a chance to flip the haters in OH the Byrd ,as for Tegray he and his cousin Orlando are friends of Austins always have been ,good people .

Austin could drop to 195 as well i think he actually certified for 180 whatever it is ,but he will remain 220 in season

You guys are right. They will be there. My mistake.

Bowshier likes it rough and tumble it will be good lol

Can anyone give details on the format/schedule for this?  Will they run it straight thru, or take a break before finals matches?

How/When do they determine the seeds?

Can anyone give details on the format/schedule for this?  Will they run it straight thru, or take a break before finals matches?

How/When do they determine the seeds?

The seeds usually come out late Friday evening.  My understanding is this year trackwrestling will auto seed based on the criteria the coaches have entered.  They don't have the information on trackwrestling yet for this year but, here is what they did last year:

2012 Raider Rumble 18 Team Pool Tournament

Place: Ryle High School

Date: Saturday, December 8th, 2012

Teams: Campbell County, Columbus East (IN), Conner, Glen Este (OH), Grundy (VA), Harrison (OH), Kenton Ridge (OH), Larue County, Meade County, Moore, Ryle, South Dearborn, South Oldham, St. Xavier, Trinity, Union County, Walton Verona, Woodford County

Format: 18-team pool (six individual 3-man pools). We will be using 5 mats.

Seeding: We will seed the top 6 in each weight class using last season’s State, District/Regional, Sectional and Rumble Places, plus record. If your State uses other names, enter data in corresponding fields. There will not be a traditional seed meeting! We will review the seeding based on the criteria for accuracy and will adjust ONLY for head-to-head challenges!

Web site: We will be using www.trackwrestling.com for the roster entry and management of the tournament. A verification email will be sent with information and instructions on how to enter rosters and seeding criteria. Roster entry is required by Thursday December 6th, 2012 at 8:00PM EST. Please enter JV Wrestlers as “NON-SCORING”. Please email ([email protected]) if you have any troubling doing this and send me your prioritized list of JV Wrestlers. At 8:01PM the rosters will be viewable to all coaches so that you can enter Head to Head challenges. This should speed up our process on Saturday morning and get things rolling quicker. The system will be locked at 8:00PM EST on Friday December 7th, 2012 and any correction will need to be email to Dave Johnson: [email protected].

1. You may make changes to your line-up when you check-in Saturday morning.

2. JVs will be assigned to open weights after weigh-ins are finished!

Times: 7:00 AM: Check-in - confirm roster and check weight. All roster changes must be made at

this time – absolutely no exceptions or excuses!

7:30 AM: Weigh-in by weight class – two scales. Weigh-ins end after the 285 lbs. class is done! Wrestlers will get 2 tries on the first scale and 1 try on the other scale immediately with his weight class. You must notify Dave Johnson (513) 885-1583 by Thursday if you cannot arrive before 7:00 AM to request an extension!

8:15 AM: Coaches Meeting

9:30 AM: Wrestling

Awards: We wrestle for top 8 placers with 1st – 4th place will receive medals

Fees: $225 Make checks out to Ryle Wrestling

Food: Food will be provided for officials and coaches only during the day. Please have wrestlers eat in the mezzanine area. NO FOOD or DRINKS in the Gym.

Lockers: Lockers will be available. Ryle High School is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items.

Additional comments and Notes:

1. We are scoring the round robin rounds using dual meet scoring with the range of points from 3 to 6 and a bye scored as 3 points.

2. Please check www.trackwrestling.com (Ryle Raider Rumble) for the seed list, open weights, and potential extra wrestlers that may be assigned to open weights.

• No JVs will be assigned until Saturday morning! JVs will weigh-in with the Varsity and assigned after weigh-ins if there are openings in the weight class!

Mickey Smith ,way to go very very impressive ,stud and great kid ,

Great comp ,not going to mention the format ,still the best regular season tourny around ,

some kids looked a bit Rusty ,

Others looked sharper than expected :)

Glen Este

CC

Woodford

i will still take CC at state ,And i will take Austin Over any 220 that was wrestling in Ohio tonight .

I think the two OWS at the rumble would have came back with W from the Iron MAN

The format was a little bumpy... I thought using the 16 man pool for weight class with 16 or fewer wrestlers than leaving them in an 18 man pool to keep wrestlers wrestling rather than having many byes.   Unfortunately it causes issues with the 45 minute wait time and some confusion in how the two different pool formats worked and how they were different from each other.  We still managed to finish earlier than in the past couple years even with 18 teams... thanks to using 6 mats...  Hope it didn't cause too much confusion or frustration.   Thanks to all who came and all the teams that participated.   It is a very early tournament that affords wrestlers the opportunity to see where they are against some very good competition, get 3 to 5 matches, and identify areas to work on between now and February.  Hope to see you all back next year.

I that the same Tyler Frankone that wrestled for X last year?

I assume some things were deleted between post #86 and #87.  I'd be curious what was being said and by who.  Anyone enlighten us?

All the years I spent Boxing, my coach taught me to never leave it in the hands of the ref or judges. I thought boxing was the worst at bad referring and bad judging effecting the outcome of a match. Well, I hate to say that it seems like the refereeing in wrestling could ever be as bad as it is in boxing by dictating to the outcome of a match as to what I saw tonight. Smh! Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk

Fuasz is an incredible challenge and match for Bowsier but it sure won't be his tuffest competition all yr

Mike frankrone, yes I agree with you that the outcome in boxing is easily effected most by reff, but where is it that you saw this reffing and it effecting outcomes

I agree Tyler had two tough matches and gassed out against Miley smith. Did not see any bad ref decisions. I just think smith wanted it more last night. In my opinion he should have taken OW. No offense to Austin but smith defied odds and was outstanding!

Overall, I thought it was a good tournament with a lot of close, exciting matches, both in the finals and earlier.  I agree that the 2 different pool formats was confusing and didn't understand the need for all the breaks during the second set of pool matches.  Personally, I'm not a fan of the pool format, especially for the out-of state kids.  The out-of-state kids often get overlooked in the seeding, and if you get under-seeded and put in a pool with a legit 1 seed, you could be the second best wrestler at your weight and end up no better than 7th.

I thought the Ohio guys looked good - with Branson and Sicurella of Glen Este winning 113 and 132, Cochran and Sowards of KR winning 126 and 145, Kowal of Princeton winning 170 and Sittason of Harrison winning at 285.  To my point above, I don't think any of these guys were 1 seeds either.

I thought Bowsier would have given Fausz a closer match, didn't realize how hard Fausz was to score on.  Bowsier could see him again at GMVWA so I hope he can make some adjustments, He is very talented and can wrestle a closer match than he showed last night.

Most people here thought Meiman would beat Kowal, but Kowal pinned his way to the finals and Meiman couldn't even get out from underneath him.  I heard Ryle people saying that Meiman beat the OH #1 170 earlier this season (Smith of Colerain) but I have a hard time believing that after seeing him wrestle.  I don;t think I saw him take a shot the entire tournament, and Kowal appeared to manhandle him.

The Glen Este kids seemed well-coached, winning lots of close matches and coming up with late take-downs when they needed them (as in Sicurella finals match.)

Ryle staff did a good job running this.  I was worried with 18 teams that we would be there til 10 or 11 pm, but they got it done efficiently and in a reasonable amount of time.

Saw some amazing wrestling yesterday, along with some questionable reffing. That being said, I would like to give a some credit where credit is due. Logan Erdman is one really good wrestler! Everyone knows that I am a huge Nathan Boston fan, but I was really impressed with Erdman last night. He really went after Nathan. Pretty sure he majored Hernandez in the semis as well. Just a really tough kid. Anyways, just wanted to make sure to compliment him on a great tournament.

I Made some great picks and a few that were very easy to pick.. and I made 1 very bad pick..Mr Fausz never will I pick against you again lol..... I was rooting for you though... Mr Ohio fan Meiman is much better than he showed against Kowal just had an off match but hats off to Kowal. Turner and Matthews are getting the rust off from football those were there first matches of the year and they were both banged up a bit. They get better and better each match. Overall great tournament !

Mike frankrone, yes I agree with you that the outcome in boxing is easily effected most by reff, but where is it that you saw this reffing and it effecting outcomes Top Shelf, if you watch the match again, Tyler took Smith down to score 2 points as Smith was fleeing the mat. Tyler kept both his legs in bounds and the refs didn't give him the points. They ruled it out of bounds. Tyler also got in on hi single about to score again and once again Smith scooted out of bounds and the refs didn't say a word. Trust me. Tyler has lost plenty of matches and I don't say a word when it's an un-tampered-with loss. All I'm saying is if you can re-watch the match, please do so, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Everything ran together on the last post. So, I'm reposting what I said. Top Shelf, if you watch the match again, Tyler took Smith down to score 2 points as Smith was fleeing the mat. Mickey Smith showed a lot of heart and won a tough class winning some close matches all 4 of the top 182s had close matches /win or lose a tough class for sure .And whoever won it could surely have gotten an OW depending on what you consider an OW .

Austin who is not ranked sixth in anything LOL 4th by win and 5th by intermat and the highest ranked 220 jr in the nation with wins over num 2 in the nation ,pinned his semis opponent in 15 sec and his finals opponent a KY state placer and 2nd ranked kid in the state a former toc finalist and champ i believe in 31 seconds ,This was the biggest tourny he will be in close to home and in NKY he went out to wrestle his best and he easily dominated his class more so than anyone in the tournament not only this yr but last yr as well ,

You could give an ow to someone winning a tough class in OTs or whatever or you could give an OW to the most talked about wrestler or you could do the right thing and give it to the best damn wrestler in the room on that day ,hardest working day in day out who beat up or not shows up and brings it .

To be honest if anyone else in the room trained as much as often or as hard at all aspects of this and whatever sport they participated in they could have dominated as he did and does ,no reason to keep his just rewards from him because he does it easier than the rest on game day for a reason .

For a kid who didnt wrestle last yr Erdmann looked and did extremely well ,nice to see him getting back to where he needs to be.

Glen Este looked very good .

This was Mathews second tourny not first and he looked a little rusty but improved from his last tourny ,Turner did look rusty ,

Unions hvy is very entertaining and wrestles above what one would expect like his throws ,not sure he can hit them against Young though ,If he hit the weights hard for a few months he could be very very exciting .Frankrone is a beast seems he is a calculating wrestler when in his stance and focused he seems he would be very very hard to beat ,at times he would back up and stand up as most wrestlers do that was his only real weakness i saw other than he may have gassed a bit ,Mathews seems to crack when he doesnt get his call no use arguing or getting upset /losing your head just keep wrestling ,

Logan jones came out looking great in his finals match Lampe did not look as sharp as last yr Jones missed his shot at Lampe i believe because i am sure he tightens up after last night ,jones took some pretty bad shots after his first success in the match  a big mistake .

Kowal is a good /very good wrestler who totally dominated Meiman without even going into his upper gears ,if Frankone or Courtney drop to 170 it will shake things up quite a bit

Glen este won fairly easily ,CC is rusty not at all their weights and with a starter down .

In my opinion no one else will be close to CC at state other than Union when they get Brock and Trae back and even then they will not overtake the Camels .X is not the same team as last yr woodford looks stronger in tournament format but will not be able to overtake CC,

Mpire, thanks for the compliment on Tyler. I really don't mean to take anything away from Smith on his win. I was actually telling someone yesterday that he's one of the most improved wrestlers I've seen over the last couple years. Congrats to Smith. As for Tyler gassing. Yes he did. That was his first sporting competition in over a year. He missed football season this year and he was out last year as a freshman on wrestling with his spine injury. This was his first wrestling tournament this year. Trinity's first meet was cancelled due to the weather. One thing I can promise as soon as his eye heals and his sprained ankle heals is that his cardio will be to notch when I'm finished with him. By the way mpire, I love watching your boy wrestle. it was definitely a highlight of the tournament for me to get to watch him wrestle. Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk

He didnt seem to totally gas just an observation that if he was in a little better cardio shape as in any tough match or tourny with ot and close matches it will make the difference ,as physically impressive as he appears and obviously has to be ,he looks like a college wrestler already ,a good stance but seems to be back a bit on his heels straight up and down where a brave or equally physically impressive wrestler like himself might try to charge him and simply bowl him over ,but i doubt he sees anyone like that hes a tank from top to bottom ,i love it ,and i saw his eye yesterday he had a big old bruise ,once again he looked like a college wrestler Already .,He looks like a state champ to me another wrestler to be proud of "KY POWER "

Appreciate tha. Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk

Hey mpire is Austin gonna workout up at spatolas? They are wanting Miller to come work with him. If so I will send him on over to get him ready leading up to state.

Rumble was great! Glen Estes was solid from top to bottom. Tough team. Campbell looked pretty good getting second. Woodford looked tough with only 10 or 11 guys. Real tough light weights. Hurst and Boston helped team with 10 pins between them. Union kids looked good. Sheffer and oxford (145) are impressive. Henry Clays big 3 looked solid. Columbus east had a few very tough/ strong boys. Myers and Fausz are beasts. I think our Kentucky boys did great against out of state competition. And also lampes are pretty darn good

Thanks Ryle ,

For an awesome tournament ,

Hey Eaglespride sent you a message in your inbox. Thanks

I will shoot for wednesday but i am not for sure ,College is out Steph is beat up and CC had practice today early ,Who are They and who is Miller ???and if he can beat Austin he can win state at 195 lol

I think he (Eaglespride) was just saying he'd like Elisah Miller from Scott(195) 4th in state last year to have a chance to work with Austin down at Spatolas place... I'm trying to see when he's going to be there as well. My nephew also wants to work out with both of them meaning ATM and Elisiah Miller... I know I'm spelling his first name wrong.. it's the same as Matthews

Thats who i thought thats cool ,CC has a dual against Lasalle Middletown and Reading WED at LAsalle i believe ,so wed is out ,perhaps sunday if Austin is not beat up from pickerington sat  .wich he shouldnt be ,no one in ohio wants any .

Spatolas reached out to Elijah to see if he is willing to work with Austin. Said they needed a decent big guy for him to work with. I'm all for it. Elijah has his eye on a state championship and wants to work with the best. So maybe they can both get something out of it.

Of Course ,i am a fan of his ,I would love for Austin to have someone simply to drill with not just wrestle ,i think proper drilling is so important ,not many kids want to learn the sequences and spend the time going over and over the moves , A great idea ,Austin is a bit bigger as far as wrestling goes but thats fine height wise and sise wise they would be great partners .Wed they have duals ,sun we will try and make it .I have another big guy who may come from Cincy not sure he is a smaller hvy but a hard worker ,at least when dads around lol

Spatola knows his stuff as well and is simply a cool coach .

what time is spatola's session on Sunday ? I think it's 7 to 8 30 isn't it ? If so my nephew will be there as well

Seriously?  Meiman has an overhook and pushes kids around with a sloppy throw-by. Kowal had him on his back in the 1st 15 secs.  Had him pinned but only got 2, then rode him for about 5 1/2 minutes.  Meiman was majored 9-0 including a stalling point from a favorable ref.  More than "hats off" to Kowal since he owed Meiman after pinning his way into the finals from the 3 seed.  He left the Raider Rumble 10-0 and has yet to be scored on wrestling 170 and 182.  He'll be at 160 for SWOWCA this weekend if Meiman wants another crack at him.

I don't have a dog in this fight. I'm simply saying Meiman is a darn good wrestler and is better than what he showed at the Rumble. Why are you calling his wrestling sloppy etc ? That's just crazy to say about any kid. He's a kid that has good days and bad days and even still battled his way to finish 2nd. Turner had an off day and I know he's banged up but I'd take those 2 on my team anyday and before the season is over they will make alot of noise in both Kentucky and yes Ohio. Kowal is good. I knew that but even if he'd gotten beat I certainly wouldn't have knocked his moves or the way he wrestles. Show some class and remember these are kids that bust their tails off everyday.

Meiman may be a bit overrated ,but Koala  looked sloppy in the match as well ,he looks as if he cannot decide what  weight he wants to go ,looks as if he has lost some speed over the years ,He did beat Meiman handily but i wouldnt brag about not being scored on at 170 and 182 either this yr or at the rumble  its early in the year and he has been beaten every yr by Ohio and KY wrestlers Meiman isnt a a world beater hes a good athlete that plays multiple sports  AJ isnt a world beater either ,he has wrestled for yrs and is taking advantage of yrs of experience surprise he aint  a state champ by now ,I think Steph  beat Kola  last yr at fairfield or one of those other weak tournaments in southern ohio and ,AJ has wrestled a long time in a lot of rooms ,congrats to him for his win over Meiman ,If you consider yourself a big dog dont bark at the pups and run under the porch when the other dogs come barking ruff ruff

The Rumble is better than swowca anyway ,now run along to swowca and bow down to the powers that be in that part of your state ,

ATMRULES

The Rumble is better than swowca anyway.

You don't honestly believe this do you?

You calling me a liar old man grappler ,can you not read thats what i wrote wasnt it ,Swowca is just a tournament ran by some ole witch from Moeller who keeps everyone out who might embarass her old mans team or some of its superstars ,thats why they dropped CC the year before last from first to seventh or so on the list ,My brother and i were about to lay serious smack down on them posers like my brother had already done his fresh and soph yr ,after ME and Fausz are gone they will invite CC back ,they are weak a sham a tournament blown up by those in southern ohio particularly those that control the tournament in order to make some private school shine keep its parents happy and paying and give em bragging rights in their part of the state since they cannot seem to win a state title even with half the states best kids on their team ,

Me and my dog Fausz would stomp those scrubs at SWOWCA and i hear those wannabees talking smack about me ,trouble is their ohio elite have short memories i smashed em for years and their best couldnt make it to me at Nationals ,Im sooooo happy i got to pin some buckeyes at the rumble ,15 sec i think i was like what happened i didnt even do anything ,

then i got to go pin a LaSalle kid yesterday now i get to go pin some kids up in ohio around columbus this week then go back to dayton and pin some kids there im getting bored already .

ATM RULES

..

Lol! Envy is a bitch. I hope you BOYS have the coconuts to properly introduce yourself to Mpire when u get a chance. I'm sure he'd like to do the same.

What happend St X? Got scared?

Whats up i leave to go  do a few sets with my pops and i come back and see blank posts ,

Dont know why everyone gets so worked up I aint gonna lose to no st x kid or no kid in the state or no buckeye either ,

I love Ky and Ohio why wouldnt i i own em both always have ,Me and my brother were  ky state champs as a youths even though the haters tried to strike us from the books .

Big shout out to Woodford tell coach Carr he has my sympathy anyone that can put up with old man Boston is a saint hahahahahahah

The scary thing is the young man can back up anything he says lol....... There isn't a high school wrestler in Kentucky or Ohio at any weight that can beat him and he has attitude ! ATM I was a fan of yours before but even more so now... Go rock some of those boys lol .....Glad your not in my nephews weight class and in fact have always respected and tried to help those that were brave enough to ask. You're a true champion not only in wrestling but in the game of life.

Oh im going to handle my buisness this weekend ,and thanks ,just having some fun ,I dont like fake people or people who talk smack that aint fact ,like that kid who said he did better against me than he did against that buckeye kid well , I set that straight reeeal quick ATM style didnt I.

As for the joker talkin smack about me not hitting Iron Man well me or my pops dont make the schedule i have always asked to go ASK the coaches at CC ,dont matter the Iron

Man was horrible in my class no one there at all ,glad i was at the Rumble i would have pinned through Iron Man and still not gotten the ow because it was so weak ,

I have beaten all the Ohio kids there in the past and despite the bs that they spout about me getting worse obviously i have gotten better in KY thats why i am ranked where i am and i earned it the hard way if i were an Ohio kid with my record i would be ranked 1 right now ,but there has never been an undefeated 2x nat champ at 220 from ohio ,

and st x sure as heck aint about to steal any of my thunder LOL

I coach youth wrestling every Mon and Thurs any clowns from ohio or louisville or anywhere else want to wrestle come bring it i would love to show all my little camels how we do it in HS .

Just because ATM and his teammate Fausz may win and dominate at SWOCA, which they also accomplished at the Rumble, does not mean it is not a better tourney.  According to this logic then the Rumble is better than the KHSAA state tourney because ATM breezed through it also.  Not sure about the "list" CC was moved down on.  I'm sure this is not public knowledge or even available to the coaches at CC.  If your coach told you this then I would say it's propaganda to get the team fired up.

Like it or not SWOCA is a tougher tournament all around.  Maybe not tougher for ATM to win, but I'm sure in the majority of the wt. classes it is a tougher tournament not only to win but to place in.

And I still hold that you don't truely believe this, its just more propaganda from another old man (because there is no way I believe ATM is making these posts)

There you go calling me a liar again, you need to try that to my face ,Like i said the Swowca The South WEst Ohio Wannabe ChickenS838 asociaation championship is a joke and no my coach didnt lie ,why on earth would they deny a state champ team an opportunity to wrestle at SWOWCA when it would only raise the bar of comp there ,LOL talk smack and lies to everyone else walk around like sheep or whatever ATM tells the truth ,they didnt want CC there because their champs would fall, period like i said my brother hammered it as a fresh and soph they dont like us or pops and who cares its a garbage tourny anyweay ,made weak by its own efforts to protect it ,

The rumble is much more honorable and in being so much more true to the sport ,but what would you know of honor or real wrestling ,introduce yourself to me and i will educate you old grappler .

as for me no it wouldnt be tougher to win except the dirty refs there might try to cheat me like they did my brother but its all good ATMRULES

old grappler you and x and wildcat need to go down to the girls wrestling in ky thread thats where you belong leave the rest of the threads to the men and that mean ME ATM you want to clique up and talk smack about me and my bro talk smack about kys best at IRon MAn big ten bench warmers and whatever else bring that crap i will set it all straight at state at nationals and on every mat in between ,and that weak classless pic wildcat wont be so funny come state when im demolishing everyone and laughing at X of course they will never have anyone who can last a period with me let alone a match ,Brock will take the ow because hes great ,But make no mistake I will win the most pins in least time i will crush everyone just have the refs ready to call stalling because the only first move is backwards .

AND fan of wrestling and anyone else who wants to train me and my pops hit it almost every night at the gym anyone and everyone is welcome ,All joking aside its the extras that make it easy come mat time .

grappler of old we understand if you cant pull yourself away from the cheetos bag or you and your southern buddies cant get away from the gossiping on the websites ,
