KY Middle School Rankings 2013/14 - January 1

Topic ID: 10299 | 8 Posts

Okay, it took me a bit to get this put together because SOMEONE bugged me to make the middle school list more like the high school rankings and I caved.  So i had to build a spreadsheet and try to do it right rather than throw it together too quickly.  Then the next thing you know there are a thousand results to consider, but it is mostly up to date now.

I have to say, I believe both the state duals and the individual state tournament will be the most competitive ever.  While it looks like Walton and Union have a slight edge in the overall, I see a number of teams with a chance to jump in there and take home trophies at those tournaments.  Should be very, very exciting.

That is unless some coaches continue to drag their feet on the coaches requirements and their kids are left OUT OF THE POST SEASON!!!  I had to throw that in there.  Make sure your coaches are doing there job and are prepared to enter kids in the post season and be able to coach when it counts.

I like the old format just fine for the younger kids. They are harder to gauge and in the end there are more left out who show at the end of the year. Plus all the annoying "well this kid beat this kid" that goes on. Just my opinion. Keep up the good work Ranger.

The annoying this kid beat this kid goes on at the high school rankings also, but I think part of the purpose is to get a rise out of people and keep the interest throughout the season.

Looks good Ranger. I like it.

Glad to Seth Ritchie and Cameron Ward for River City make the list.

Been watching Cameron get better for the past several years, will have to watch out for him in high school.

As far as Seth goes, only his second year wrestling I think, and if I was a kid, would want no part of him. His is a relentless attacker. Four and a half minutes of Hell I like to call it.

I'll play the "annoying this kid beat that kid" game, just not with my own kid. This Monday we saw a great match up at Taylor County between Griffin Dulak and Nathan Prosser. Dulak won 3-0.

I know they are two totally different sports, but take a look at NCAA basketball rankings. UNC has wins over MSU, UK, and UL and is still not ranked higher than any of those teams. Should Gabe Dean feel like he should be ranked number one for beating two time champ Ruth at the Southern Scuffle. Ranger takes on an extremely tough job trying to keep up with every kid in the state, one win over a higher ranked kid doesn't constitute the fact that a kids ranking should change. There is a plus though in the fact that hopefully a lower or unranked kid may not be discouraged but instead only motivated to work harder to either make the list or place higher at state than anyone would expect.

Blake Gamble is going 140 not 152 an JC has a sleeper first year kid at 152 that could place. Blake has been wrestling mainly high school this year and has been solid. I look for a middle championship in his future. Kid has put a ton of work in and it's showing. I believe Blue could also place this year. Kids getting better.

blake gambel is 140 now

and barkley truax 152
