Hi everyone,

A new book came out yesterday that is the story of the boiler room blowing up at Simon Kenton High School back in 1981 & the SK basketball team that year going on to win the state championship....before you read "basketball", and ignore this post.  The author Eric Deters is a lawyer in Independence (Simon Kenton High School area) who has:

1) donated his time to the Kentucky Middle School Wrestling association to incorporate us for free...AND paid the registration fee out of his pocket.

2) helped sponsor our middle school wrestling tournament last year....and will probably donate money again this year.  He's very generous towards any youth sports cause.

The story is actually pretty amazing.  Haven't read it yet, but I bought a copy.  If you're interested, please show some support.

Wow was that a flashback.

I remember when that happened.  We were in middle school (8th grade)when we heard the news.

Yea, i was in the 6th grade....Independence FROZE when that news broke out.  I never realized until this book came out that the boiler room blew up and SK won state in bball in the same year.  Shows you how observant i am.

The story is very intense, I know several police officers and firemen (retired now) that were there and had to retire because of their emotional injuries, I had just moved here a year after it happened, there was still a silence when someone brought it up, no one wanted to discuss it. Tragic, yet an amazing story.

And now, I am older than both of you by several years, Grappler, maybe we should trade names,,,???? :?
