Kentuckywrestling.com HS Rankings 2014/2015 - JANUARY 14

Topic ID: 11510 | 132 Posts

The down side to waiting a full month over the holidays to update ranking is TOO MANY RESULTS!  So, we decided to go ahead and post this update without fully reflecting everything that has happened, but we got through most.  Hopefully, we can wade through the last few things this week and post another next week.  Maybe even get on a weekly update for the last few weeks of the season to reflect any last second major changes that come up.  But the end of the season gets busy, so we will see.

A few notes:

1) Toughest rankings decision of the year at 152.  Ackley hasn't done anything to lose his spot, but Barton has been on fire and has so many quality wins that he gets the nod this week.  I almost never do that, but very seldom do you see a lower ranked kid pull off that many big wins compared to the prior number 1.  I actually got to see Ackley this past weekend and he was spectacular, but he just hasn't seen nearly the same level of competition.  I am really looking forward to seeing these two go at it.

2) Union still has a slight lead in the team race, with Trinity close behind.  Things are starting to separate a bit at 3-6, then the field.

3) Some rumors that there are some big changes still to come at a few weights.  We will see in the next couple weeks.

WR Rankings 2014_15 JAN14.pdf

Thank you as always for putting these together

Thanks for the update Ranger! Just some info-Dante Castellano beat Cody Schultz from Scott at Kenton Co. Championships lastnight.

Also, Branden Johnson is definitely back at Dixie. He also wrestled lastnight.

At 285 Matt Davis SOLD takes 6thplace at Fern Creek Gladiator a small tournament and remains 4th in state?

Didn't know that meant I wasn't allowed to ask a question. Thanks for clearing that up for me

there's your poster's misconduct warning, 385, for questioning Ranger's judgment.  One more and you will lose one reputation point.  :D

Thanks for the update, Ranger.

I'll allow it one time, but that's it.

Seriously though, cream rises to the top.

It is just funny how folks who only focus on their own kid or kid's weight class are so quick to pick out another's losses but fail to mention when their kid's losses are overlooked. Not saying that is the case in this situation. But things can be questioned tactfully.

Honestly ranger you do too much and for that I am grateful.

I'm just a fan of the sport, I have no children or brothers or anything wrestling. And especially not in heavyweight. I was just at that tournament and thought it would be interest to see the shake up in the rankings, that's all. As always, thanks for all that you do for fans and the sport.

Good deal. We will be hitting the upper half in more detail this weekend.

I just know what a daunting task it is to put out these rankings.  All in all Ranger/Dutch do a great job.  We are lucky to have someone who commits the time to do it thats all.

First off thanks for doing all the work you do on these its got to be tough so as to help Skyler Martinson is 120 and will remain there if that will help you for the future ones. Again just to help you so we can get more of the kids in the right weight classes what you do is tough with them all moving all the time.

Thanks for the update. It seems kids have been bumping all over the place this year so it is tough to know where they will land sometimes. Then with the 2 pounds sometimes you get some surprises.

If a coach, kid, or parent would like to have a wrestler considered on the rankings I would suggest sending useful post.  I would suggest listing the wrestler, tournament, and who they beat.  This is information that could be used to make an educated placement on the rankings.  It is very tough to search every team and duel that might take place each week in the state.

When a post or private message comes across that just say's "look out for Billy at 138" or "I will show Billy that nobody wants to rank him".  This not the information that we are looking for.

Also just because a kid gets a big win over a ranked kid but has lost to 4 kids that are not ranked that is taken into consideration.

These rankings are meant to be fun and get the state talking about wrestling.

Camerin Cole of Christian co. Has lost to both Daniel Dyess of uha and Salings of manual at the CCI

Billy B.

Speaking of Raisor (13 HWT, Woodford), I have been to at least 3 tournaments with him this year and have yet to see him win a match. Also, Nolan Bowman (also HWT) from Southern picked up some wins over ranked wrestlers at WCI and should be watched.

So, true rankings don't make your kid a better wrestler your wrestler has to do that and if you kid doesn't see himself/herself ranked all the more fuel for the fire to get there!  It takes a ton of work to do these rankings and I know for fact Dutch and Ranger are great judges and very fair in what they see in a kid who is wrestling.  Rankings are just a way for others around the state to keep up with what is going on in other regions so that they have an idea of how the others look.  By no means is it a guarentee and if anyone was able to go to each and every match I'd like to see that!  Love to see the rankings to keep up with how a few great coaches can share thier insight on wrestlers we may not see till it get's closer to state.  Take all the insight you can get when it is given at not cost to you!

I have to say that they may be for fun but they have a purpose and are used For seeding purposes in tournaments and by the media when they discuss a team or a kid ,they do have weight and purpose .That said some of them do not follow rule of thumb or the seeding procedures of most tournaments .

If they were pointless and just for kicks there would be a ton of rankings ,Newspapers and everyone else go by these rankings ?

Well it has no bearing on the state tournament or they might use them to seed it. Wait a minute....I'm beating a dead horse again.

Bowlbear rankings can make your kid a better wrestler! It all depends on how they look at it. My son was unranked going into his freshman year, with 3 ms state titles and a runner up in 4 years. That was hard for him to swallow. He then realized what i had been telling him ms and hs is a whole new ball game. He lifted so hard that summer put on 25lbs and missed the state finals by a point.I strongly believe the rankings made him a better wrestler, just all depends on your perspective. And yes pin and win keep beating that dead horse because it still needs beating, lol. I have already prepared for a terrible draw because its been that way for the last 2 years so why should i think it would change, lol

Freshman Never start of ranked in any state ? My son was a FIRST yr cadet Fargo AA and placed top four at Iron Man highest nationally ranked Freshman in his class in the country as a Freshman and couldnt get a seed at Swowca lol ,A fresh wins a few matches duiring the yr and he gets ranked by state time ,And yes it gives them incentive .

As far as I know.  Rankings are NOT used at seed meetings.   I could just see it. "Hey my kid should be seeded ??? because the rankings say so". It would never hold any weight, and I don't think it should hold any weight at seed meetings.

As mentioned the rankings are just for fun and to see where some of the wrestlers you can't/don't see are doing and at what weight they are doing it at.  Then again it does not really matter what weight Johnny is going on the other side of the state.  You choose a weight class you are most comfortable at, then train at that weight and try and demolish anyone who steps in front of you on the mat.  I find that for most kids it better if they don't know the kid standing in front of them, they then just do their thing with no holding back.

The rankings will work themselves out at State, this is a fun forum to read though. The kids are all working very hard twords their individual goals. I for one am glad my son has not been mentioned in the rankings. He likes to fly under the radar. One wrestler mentioned in the rankings is not even wrestling anymore due to a medical issue, but I like to see him recognized, so he will remain nameless.

Bulldog your right about not wanting or knowing your opponent, that way you can just wrestle but unfortunately my son will see his main competition 4-6 times this year.I know from his past he does much better against kids he knows nothing about.

Bulldog ,im completely puzzled by your post ,if your a coach you should know they use the Rankings ???????at tiurnaments .

Go to Track,Or Baumspage ,almost every tournament uses the rankings for seeding , and I have listend in using my ninja skills because I am not a coach at seed meetings in KY , they in fact use them as well be it official or not ,thats why I do not get a couple of the rankings ,The seed committee has criteria for seeding ,the rankers do not follow any criteria or real rules ,even nationally they do whatever they want and are bias ,I see only one national ranking that uses a criteria based point system to determine its rankingsv, usa Olympian .

State Champ criteria is used a lot and always exceeds normal tournament results .

Rankings are never used in seeding procedures for any wrestling tournament.  Like Crazyhorse mentioned, the criteria used for seeding is predicated on "actual" performances at the state, regional, district, or sectional  tournaments, or placement at the tournament the individual is participating in from the previous year, followed finally by win-loss percentages for current year.  That is why when you look at at Track, Kapp, or Baumspage you will see numbers like  "1.1" or  2.1, or 3.4, or 87%", next to the seed nominations.  The first number represents the criteria used, the number after the decimal is the placement using that criterion.  In the example, a 1.4 would mean a wrestler placed at the state tournament (first criteria) specifically, 4th place.  A "2" would be second criteria, 3 would be 3rd criteria, last criteria would be their win-loss percentages for the current year, etc.  There is never a criteria for "rankings" at any level of the sport.  State Champions would always receive a 1.1 for seeding purposes at 99.9% of all tournaments in the country.  However in your larger tournaments like Super 32 or Ironman, they will use placements in National tournaments as a higher criteria for seeding purposes to appropriately seed the individual state champions competing in that tournament.  As an example, go to Super 32 brackets for this year and look at the seeding nominations.  There were state champions from 6 different states competing in one weight class, maybe even a couple more weight classes were stacked like that.  I assure you, they were not seeded by where they were ranked nationally.  Criteria is always used.  Past performance is the indication used to "predict" or "seed" a wrestler for a tournament.

I appreciate the work that any person on any forum puts into compiling a ranking system.  It is very time consuming and speaks to their level of passion and commitment to the sport.  As a fan, it allows me to see the perceived strength of an individual's ability that I would not want to dive into their accomplishments and do the research myself.  At the end of the day, a wrestler has to enter the circle, step on the line, and go.  Therein is the only determinant of whom is truly number one.  Regardless of their seed, but more importantly, where they are in a ranking.

Thanks for the efforts Ranger and Dutch...I find value in what you put out.  Please keep it coming

I noticed Clayton Hanson from north Hardin was not ranked what happend

Tore his labrum , actually had surgery yesterday . Tough kid he will be back stronger than ever.

That is correct they use state placement ,I am totally wrong ,Rankings mean absolutely nothing ,I didnt hear coaches at seed meetings talking about them ,and yes StATe placement supersedes win loss record duiring the yr You are right thats EXACTLY why I said the rankers do not follow any set criteria like they do at seeding meetings .

yes they are meaningless ,so if you think they do not look at rankings like the press at seed meetings keep drinking the Koolaid.

When you pick up the paper on rare occasions to read about wrestling, and they talk about teams they use past state placement and always mention CURRENTLY ranked thats these rankings ,They are not just for fun

Tore his labrum , actually had surgery yesterday . Tough kid he will be back stronger than ever.

Really lol now no newspapers report wrestling in NKY go to the sports section not the funnies ,I have read a few articles this yr already ,

And I have heard coaches bring them up and get told state placement supersedes them again thats why I said rankings do not use set criteria seedings do for the tenth time

And they hype up the wrestler the school the team and the COACH .

My Force is very strong You have been reading about it for yrs Bulldog .

Shawn Stacy at 152 pinned Edmund Collin in the first period and competed with Alex wright( 2 point swing)

Edmond Collins also pinned Stacy at Grundy

Doing Good things at Holmes ,Bulldog,Keep up the good Work.

Can we please start using a little punctuation? It might be a little easier to follow some of these mind numbing rants if they were put together coherently. And please, before you attack me for saying this, look at your comments. If they are punctuated, I'm obviously not referring to you. Being someone who doesn't troll the forums nonstop, it is a little hard to follow certain people's comments without feeling some sort of clarification is needed. Thanks in advance.

Aaron Chandler at 152 for Central Hardin has wins over the ranked wrestlers from Anderson, Meade, DuPont Manual, John Hardin and maybe a few more. His few losses are to #2 Ackley, #6 Williams and #13 Eldridge though I have surely missed one. Track has his record at 22-4, and that sounds about right from being at most of CH's tournaments. No, he isn't my kid or even best buddies with my kid. I'm honestly trying to help and ask forgiveness for any bias I may have by being a Bruins parent/fan. As always, much gratitude to Ranger and anyone who helps to put these rankings together.

Thanks Ranger and Dutch!!! There has to be all kinds of time you put into this.

. It all shakes out at state. My son Belk has wins over 4 top 20 kids and wins over 3 top 10 in Ohio. It all shakd out in the state tourney. So ranking don't mean anything until their next match.

A lot of big matchups this weekend in two big tournaments Rankings will surely change.

I'd watch out for the 220 from Campbell county he might make a few upsets in the state tournement

CC has only wrestled outside of NKY in KY once this yr ,so it will be good to see the rest of the state at least once before the state tournament ,He has been practicing some with Moellers state ranked 220 and Hvy and some other pretty good kids in Ohio who are also ranked there ,Its like he has a Force field so far this year he doesnt give up a TD in tournaments or practice .I think he looks at it as his season is just now starting and he is trying to up his intensity ,A very big yr ahead two nat folkstyle events cen reg and Fargo and hopeflly a couple fr gr tourneys in Ohio.

I sure hope Austin enjoy his final state title this year.  To see the big boy smile is something else.  He deserved to have a big smile after number 4.  All the nay sayers or haters need to keep to themselves at the state tourney this year and allow him to enjoy his final romp through the Ky state tourney.  I for one believe he should get a standing Ovations after his final win.   There is not a nicer kid around off the mat (he's a killer on the mat) and deserves all the respect after his sr. and final year hear in the bluegrass state.

If I don't get the chance to say it at the state tourney congrats Austin.  To many more important people will be congratulating you at the state for me to probably get close enough to do it in person.

Well said bulldog. I echo that comment. Awesome hs carreer Austin your a Kentucky wrestling legend.

Austin has had a great career one of the greats for sure. He is a warrior but so is raynel brown people can't sleep on him he is an artist and won't stop till he gets it even if it means eating giants

Yes good luck to Raynell He will have his work cut out for him at state as will everyone .

How about Yenter I think he has outdid his rankings more than anyone all year from out of the top ten too what has to be #1 or possibly a tie for the spot.

come'on Saul majored Wells for third last year at state and beat him at the rumble this year. really think Yenter can match that?

Saul has beat everyone in the tough 113 pound weight class this year.

Has Yenter beaten Tylan Tucker this year?? I know he lost to him at Bryan Station Duals this year.

Oh did the 1 lose to the 5

Bryan Station was the first tournament of the yr.

Oh did the 1 lose to the 5

Bryan Station was the first tournament of the yr.

I was just asking if they had wrestled again and Yenter had beaten him since you said he should be ranked #1. I was not knocking anyone just asking a simple question. I don't see every match at every tournament every week and track is not always up to date.

I think Saul has earned the number 1 spot but Yenter is right there behind him

No I said he had the best record this weekend and most would probably have him first I should have said on paper a class I am not totally familiar on nor would I claim to be ,Either way he was the one most underrated in the rankings ,a slight that someone like myself who suspects and sees plots all around finds very annoying knowing what little I do .

In other words slighting a kid so greatly on purpose because of personal issues is not an honorable thing to do and I find a lot more suspect these days all around ,

I hope young Yenter does very well at state despite any issues I may or may not have with anyone ,And I find that some people do not handle authority or any even so miniscule power over people with any true sence of honor for the sport or its young athletes ,Power corrupts total power corrupts totally ,good thing the only power that really matters is a kids power over his own destiny on the mat

Yenter is much better than his initial ranking but by no means #1 at 106. Ervin clear #1 no question in my mind. Top 5 for sure. He has a very good future ahead of him. Future state champ for sure.

I understand ,He was ranked well out of the top ten and beat two top 5 kids handily this weekend and has beaten ranked kids often this yr ,Not claiming him 1 but if I did he has earned it a lot more than a 15 or an 11 ,nowhatimean

I follow ya

Those that go witch hunting always find a witch even if one is not there.

Those that look for conspiracy always find one even if there is not one there.

I'm sure if we looked closely enough into every team or organization we will find fact to back any conspiracy we want.

My thing is. Why look for it?  Everyone has an agenda whether it is conscious or not.

Take note of the little word with a lot of meaning "IF".  I've heard of many conspiracies in my time and have looked at them from both sides.  Every time there is facts to support it and for those that can throw that conspiracy theory back onto those who try expose a conspiracy.

It looks to me that little Yenter is following in his big brothers footsteps.  Moving up the list by leaps and bounds.  Looks like he like Mason Smith last year was overlooked by many at the beginning of the year.

I think the person who has made the biggest jump in rankings in probably Zane Brown from Male. He started preseason ranked 20th and is now 3rd. That is impressive for an 8th grader!

It's not about being looked over. Freshman and younger alike have to pay their dues and prove it with results. That gives pertinent data to the ranking guys to justify the rankings. Pretty simple. I know the guys very well behind the scenes. No conspiracy at all I guarantee it.

These are kids everyone knew including ranger would work their way up through the season by results.

Got my 138 and 106 ,mixed up the 1 at 138 lost to the 5 not the 1 at 106 but the 4 at 138 beat the two and the 5 who beat the 1 this yr ,bottom line ,two CC kids outdid their rankings this week the 106 by far

I think you guys might wanna be scared for Saul rather than Yenter. Yenter has improved tromendously. He's one to watch at the state tourney.

Hmmm....Imposter?

Any predictions on jv state this year? Lots of kids looking good heading into it.

Stick with JV its where you need to be .

Wonder how high Trent Johnson will leap on the next rankings.

Well i feel like i have seen this situation before in other weight classes so my guess is no way will he move Vasquez based on his first lost to all the 138s. I think Spahr moves up to second then after that lets put a 3abcdef,it's that close

Speaking objectively, I think Spahr should move to the 1.  He didn't just beat Miller.  He controlled the whole match.  If memory serves, he beat him 9 - 4, and gave two of those points but cutting him twice.  However it worked out, there was never a moment's doubt who was controlling that match.  That being said, there are probably 15 or more legitimate contenders for the podium in the weight class.  I wouldn't be surprised to see someone not ranked place either.  It should be a lot of fun at state this year.  I think there are only 3 weights that have a clear cut leader (170, 182, 220)

saul is a firm #1 at 106 and would be #1 at 113 as well.

The only clear cut leader is at 220 for KY State Tournament. All the others are very close with great competitors that will shake up and surprise many out there. Looking forward to it!

saul is a firm #1 at 106 and would be #1 at 113 as well.

I second that

.

Saul Ervin would flat out not beat vega right now. No way. That was early in the season. Vega has turned it on. Dont see anyone stopping him or coming close, for his two time.

That's it then it's settled. There will be no 113 lb bracket at the state tournament this year:)

Lol thats funny pinandwin

Just combine 106 and 113 ,and 132 and 138,

Just combine 106 and 113 ,and 132 and 138,[/quote

Might as well throw in 120,126

Of course you would have to .160 and 170 would be lots of fun ,182 and 195 would have epic battles ,And 220 and hvy would be a class of almost 100 lbs Think of the missmatched but epic battles and how someone would have to change tactics ,That is unless they were strong enough to wrestle both classes the same with the skill of an agile 220 ,That would be something seeing a 285 lber tossed about like a 120 throws another 120 ,A benefit of Duals where people can actually bounce around if everyone is lucky im sure some of theses scenarios will take place this weekend .

And 220 and HWT

We just read and posted that,

Saul Ervin would flat out not beat vega right now. No way. That was early in the season. Vega has turned it on. Dont see anyone stopping him or coming close, for his two time.

I will wager you one KY Horse Park hot dog WITH relish that Vega will have close matches at state (within 4 points).  He won't dominate Moore, Hurst, Wells, Cook, maybe even Mitch Ervin haven't seen him yet but his last name warrants inclusion on this list.  He can turn it on and become beast (finals of Dragon) but is not consistent with that effort (look at his semis match at Dragon).  If I had to place a bet, yes, he would be my pick, BUT he will have to win some close matches.

Lets makes the bet then, vega by at least 4 every match :)

This group of union wrestlers is tough but the kids they have coming up in the next few years have the potential to be the best team union has ever put on the mat

Lets makes the bet then, vega by at least 4 every match :)

Lets shake on it

stepbrothers-handshake.gif

Its a bet we will meet up at state :)

I got a c note for 5 pins any takers

When do the UPDATED Rankings come out-There has been plenty of action the past few weeks-Should be some adjustments-based on the results?

Oh yeah. A TON of updates.

People always asking "when do new rankings come out" must get old lol. If it were me it's certainly not going to speed me up.

Johnson from Dixie heights steam rolls in wolverine, heavy weights better look out! Pinned s. Oldhams Davis in 20 seconds!

Looks like Johnson picked up where he left off at State's last year.

I can't remember seeing Davis from s. Oldham win a match all year.

Looks like he picked up after where he took his losses.Late in the season .

Johnson?

Last year didn't take a loss after NKAC I believe. I believe he meant quick pins

What are the dates for state?

Feb 20/21

Thank you

No I meant he didnt wrestle any of the tournaments he lost last yr and hasnt wrestled one decent tournament or opponent this yr and didnt represent the sport or the state when he had the chance yr ,and no one wants to hear Football as some bogus excuse .

No I meant he didnt wrestle any of the tournaments he lost last yr and hasnt wrestled one decent tournament or opponent this yr and didnt represent the sport or the state when he had the chance yr ,and no one wants to hear Football as some bogus excuse .

Didn't your son forgo his Sr year in FB this year?

I don't think football is an excuse.  I think its a reality.  There are many wrestlers, good wrestlers that don't represent in the summer.  I believe Johnson wrestles as a hobby and doesn't take it as serious as he does football.  Nothing wrong with that.  He is still one of the best HWTs in Ky.  And maybe that is all he cares about.

Don't hate on him because of it.   I'm sure some on the football world are saying the same thing about ATM.  He didn't represent his school in football this year.  Once again nothing wrong with it. It's a reality.  Not everyone strives to be the ultimate best at wrestling.  Many are content at just being the best in the state at their wt. class.

You have me all wrong and kinda ticking me off ,I got mad at a few wrestlers for being lazy and not representing their state when asked ,He was the beat Hvy weight and there are plenty who play football and do nat duals and always did Austin not playing had to do with avoiding dumb injuries and doing late summer tournaments ie Super 32 ,

Austin was an excellent football player probably much better than most knew or noticed but that doesnt matter and its not the pointb,Hard to not say anything when someones talking someone up who chose not to wrestle or represent then shows up late after all the tough tournament ,I thought he was very good I would have liked to seen him at nat duals on team kyb,Thats fine if its a Hobby but skipping the real comp and talking about pinning kids who havent won a match all yr makes someone sound like a BULLY

And who cares what any mf in the football world says about Austin bro hes a gd wrestler and will smack the snot out of anyone that doesnt like it ,Johnson has D1 lotential in FB probably could have in wrestling ,Still say if your going to wrestle wrestle and not say your not because of football then show up after most of the season is over and all the tough tourneys are done ,he probably wins state hes tough but he is no true wrestler .he should be on your team you seem okay with cheap wins and kids who do it for kicks or as a hobby .

yea, I'm pretty much ok with anyone who wants to wrestle and for what ever reason they want to wrestle.

My son got a late start in wrestling because we were deep in the football playoffs. His first love is football and then comes wrestling. Maybe that's why he isn't taken seriously in wrestling. This is his 4th year to wrestle and has had a good year so far. Whatever sport he's in he does his best no matter if he's sick or hurt. He may not ever be a state champion, he's a champion in my eyes.

Yeah well im ok with any kid that wants to wrestle too ,Thats the point. if you Want to Wrestle you Wrestle ,That kid who hasnt won a match all yr im ok with if hes trying .The kid who just wants to show up for a cakewalk after the hard part is over and not put in the effort it takes to earn the right to be called a wrestler is ok as well thats just the way the world is these days teach a kid to take the easy road and never shoot to be what you can be , except if you brag about him I will probably have a few comments on a forum about reality.

Thats awesome ,And I have seen kids in football make the playoffs and not miss a single match ,Im sure a state champ that pinned through a tournament wasnt worried about a late start.and if I coached the best College football team in the country and wanted a stud football player and he said im wrestling at nat for my state team to represent for my state The first thing I would say was I want that kid hes a beast and knows what it means to represent his team .I coached wrestling for ten yrs and football for a few all youth and jr high ,at those levels no coach ever said I dont want a wrestler or vice versa it was always bonus .

Ranger any idea if you will put new rankings out before regionals or wait?

I talked to Westerns football coach a couple of years ago and he wished his linemen would take up wrestling. It helps with footwork, balance and learning about leverage.

I will wager you one KY Horse Park hot dog WITH relish that Vega will have close matches at state (within 4 points). He won't dominate Moore, Hurst, Wells, Cook, maybe even Mitch Ervin haven't seen him yet but his last name warrants inclusion on this list. If I had to place a bet, yes, he would be my pick, BUT he will have to win some close matches.

Vega had two close matches this past weekend at state duals one he went up and the other he stayed the same weight. He beat Michael beets by 2 I think and Castellano by 5 those were his toughest matches I saw.

When are the new rankings coming out??

Vega looked good physically and technically from what I saw , I didnt see him annihilating anyone but I didnt see him in any trouble at any point either and thats all you can ask of a kid .

When are the new HS rankings coming our?

Vega is consistant-He just wins BABY!

Some classes you would have as much luck ranking drawing names out of a hat they are so inconsistent after the 1 spot usually and even with them in some cases .152 will be interesting and 182 Frankone looks as if he will be the very clear favorite ,195 Miozza n Miller should be Fun ,Both do work But Miozza BUSTED IT UP IN THE OFF SEASON ,and in the Weight Room I look for a fierce Battle at State .Lampe Meiman Heidorf Sparh Duncan Erdman Schefer Vega Ervin thats about all of em .Heavyweight is a ? with a state champ returning who has been absent most of the yr but throws a Monkeywrench into everything and was so dominant at state he will probably be 1 again in a class as varied in styles as it is in sises.

ATM had an 18 sec pin at HVY weight this weekend at state Duals and CC hvy is cert at 220 Hvy could easily become the best class in the entire state in an instant ,Young Brown Austin and Johnson .wouldnt that be a hoot suddenly all the hype of lightweight classes so close in comp are replaced with a class of two state Champs with 3 D1 athletes who are not even ranked #1 at the weight class currently ????

And Austin having a tech and pin wins over the GMVWA hvy Champ who pinned through at GMVWA has shown he can hang with the Big boys as well .

Are there any first year wrestlers ranked this year?  Typically some schools have to beat the bushes to get the bigger kids out.

You put the tease out there. Do share. Enquiring minds want to know if we will see this happen at Heavyweight.

Ranger any idea if you will put new rankings out before regionals or wait?

I wouldn't blame him if he got to 138 and just quit trying to figure it out.

It's coming. MS state has me majorly distracted. Will be back on it early next week.

182 ,you Have Frankrone ,But then what can you do ,I say it has to be Smith second then Mathews then Cornett ,or perhaps Mathews second .Big ? about CC is Krebs. will he wrestle and who will it be between Barrett and Lillie ,Lillie looked better most of the yr but did not look or perform well at Duals.Who knows I think x made unwise decisions against CC at duals but still won but CC lightweights did not look as sharp as the week before Lillie and Yenter were both off Hvy could be good ,Hate to say it 220 will not look good at all It will be nasty.

Looking forward to 152 and seeing if Belk can get it done for Ryle and Meiman looked good at 160 ,but did not look sharp maybe he was under the weather ,He should end up a 2xer after state .

Cmon man regionals are coming up wheres the rankings jk I wouldnt touch this yrs rankings if they actually did pay ,Whats the chances of getting kids placed or ranked when one week a kid can beat almost every kid in his class and the next cannot beat a kid out of the top eight its a mess lol

Look out for some region 8 wrestlers this year

Looking forward to seeing some big things coming from there, the recent addition of schools in that area show the growth of the sport in your neck of the woods. Good luck.

i'm dying to see the new rankings. i know people ask it a lot but just to ask for everyone else also, will be have updated rankings before region or after. or?

I don't Know when they will come out, but I do not expect them until after regionals. If they come out sooner there's gonna be plenty to talk about after those tournaments take place.

After regionals they practically Write themselves im Hoping they come out this week before not to knock anyone on their guesses at all it will just be interesting to see ,This yr seems like it will be a lot harder to rank than the last few .

Dutch and I will be working on it the next couple days. Have to decompress after ms state. But we should get something out before Friday.

thanks much man
