2015 Ranger Report

Topic ID: 11767 | 36 Posts

Dutch and I finally put a fork in this one.  We got some good stuff added in, but there is always more that we want to do.  Hopefully the weather cooperates for everyone and we all get to enjoy a great state tournament.

Note, these are predictions based on the original brackets.  So some kids will be higher or lower than rankings show them based on good/bad draws.

Enjoy and I look forward to seeing you in Lexington next week!!!

Ranger report 2015.pdf

I realize it is just a simple oversight but Lucas Miozza@195 is not listed as a returning placer.

Darn. Missed that.

Any idea why I can't open the document? Says unable to read document. An error occurred while reading the document.

great work, Ranger and Dutch. this report is always an essential to have in your pocket at state.

Awesome work Ranger, it is appreciated as always.

I can't open it either. It says the same thing when I try.

Wouldn't work on my phone or iPad , but would on home computer

I tried iphone, iPad, and computer wouldn't work on either of my devices.

Dang looking forward to seeing it

Thanks Dutch that works for me!

Worked for me. Thanks Dutch and Ranger.

Aaron King from Johnson Central is a returning state placer.

Dodd from FC placed at 182 last year.  I couldn't open the final version so I don't know if it was fixed or not.

Nice job Ranger and Dutch.

Great synopsis and probably on target-I agree 138 is loaded. Lots of different styles. Loaded with kids with technical skills. Jacob Dodd has over 5o wins with most at 120. He is the kid at 113 that is dangerous and seemingly so what overlooked. Great report-thanks for putting this together. Still believe ST X is team to beat.

I've kept quite about a wrestler all year while his rankings didn't reflect his skills, but reading this report is a slap in the face to this kid.  Riley Hawes at 152 has done pretty good this year.  He has 2 losses at 152.  One to Barton in the finals of the Dragon and one to Ray in the Semis of Region.  All of his results are on Track.  He wrestles in some pretty good tournaments that get state recognition so I don't know how his accomplishments get overlooked.

He's 2-1 against Ray (I think Ray is underrated too)

He's beat Hoffman everytime they wrestled this year

He's beat Reithauer multiple times this year

The kid is for real and no one at 152 wants to see him in their bracket, including Ackley in the second round.

Since they're averaging ~70% accuracy at predicting top 8 then I wouldn't take it as an insult, just take it for what it is:  an educated guess.

Omg, someone who doesn't take this stuff personal. Never claimed to be anything other than an educated guess. Would be stupid to claim any more.

Although I will say that with much better information and some added help from Dutch I would expect that number to be closer to 80% on placers. But you are still talking a couple dozen proving us wrong.

152's around the state...you've been told.  So there should be no element of surprise in a few days.

70% accuracy in a high school sport as variable as wrestling is insanely good. It means you get  about 80 out of 112 medalists correct which is incredibly difficult.  if you think you could do better go ahead and post em.

These predictions were based on results. Which included wins, losses, head to heads. I assure you that I would love to be wrong about some of these brackets. Which I can guarantee that we will be. Every year some kids get upset and other rise to the occasion. I'm sure this year will be no different.

Good luck to all the wrestlers.

Ranger.  Got 2 words for ya.  Gator three.

Second the motion on Riley Hawes.

Really good wrestler. Bet he is one the podium at state.

Thanks for the great work, guys.

Never said it wasn't good, and never said I could do better...I only  mentioned it b/c someone took offense at the report.  I agree it's remarkably good, and their compiled data shows they're getting better every year.

Awe man beat me too it. Hopefully Riley can wrestle back to 3rd.

Rankings are in dissaray .seems some used the break to advantage others fell apart a bit ,coaches always talking about peaking ,I never really put a huge amount of stock into it except when reffering to the beginning of the season after six or eight weeks a kid should be ready , staying at the peak level when not wrestling is a different story or when you are wrestling a ton or man in a row it can be hard .either way saw some great matches ,thumbs up to Casey Cornett ,one heckuva wrestler and very smart or well coached or both wrestled frankrone to the wire ,cornett seemed in great shape frankrone did not although he controlled most of the match .Kid that beat sparh was on a tear he had a huuuuge gas tank ,wrestled like a college wrestler all three periods on the offense and even when he was down never quit , sucks for cc but it is what it is that kid had a motor .

Raynell wrestled the best i have ever seen him setting up shots and moving for a big boy not sure how it goes with Johnson but he looked darn good .as did Johnson .Interested to see if Hameidan gets past Ferris at 220 ???

Fern creek kids look in shape and as if they hit the gym thumbs up to them ,the red headed foul mouth lady in green wearing the x is annoying as always ,Miozza is a beast ,Erdman rolled Hurst torched some kids ,wells had a close one that he took off on later in the match ,Austin with a twelve second pin another in the opening of the second and 3 wins away from a whole lotta stuff .

Kid who got shot won a freaking match that was impressive as i told one of our very good wrestlers who did not make it and brought it up ,Maybe some more kids need to take some schrapnel next yr ,JK not funny at all but very impressive to never say die literally Awesome job kid should get a Superman tat ,bullets dont hurt me H2LL yeah

Wells and Hurst had the toughest 2nd rd matchups of the top 5 guys (Castellano and Regaldo aren't slouches and both might make podium) and Brady and Tucker still pulled away late and won convincingly. That will help them tomorrow since everybody's got some dust to knock off. Except maybe Meyers who looked very sharp and deadly

Max Andreoni had the #5 kid from Cooper in the 2nd round, won a tight 5-3 match.

That was a great match. Didn't like the stall calls on Andreoni bc he was out to the side, not on hips, and working tilts. I meant toughest matchups in the 113 2nd round.

Who's had the biggest upset so far?

I would say #21 Andre Williams over #3 Raynel Brown. Anything can happen with the big guys.

Great job picking the winners in the Ranger Report.

How about Logan Erdman , the kid had a field day. Great technician

Congratulations to the region 7 106'ers for a very deep showing -  3 of 4 make the podium and all 4 do damage and survive to day 2.  Bender, Wallace, Miller, and Deck all brought quality wrestling to the show, and elevated the competitive level of that bracket considerably.  Nice job guys.
