Why do you think he wants to wrestle two Nat tournaments in less than a week .hHe could set back and enjoy and hide like all the other top ranked kids do but he loves wrestling .

Never would imagine Austin would be one to sit back and hide. Anyone can say whatever they want but the one thing that can't be denied is that the Myers will wrestle anyone on any stage.

Who ran him off the Matt over and over just like he did Hemida and even Dunn .

I agree it would be easy for Austin to say "well I'm already committed to a school no need to compete nationally until I'm on campus" but the fact that he does shows he wants to continue getting better and loves to compete.

Intermat had him at 30 overall commits all weights and Brinson at 12 .normally they would say Austin or someone with his credentials in freestyle greco would get a look but whatever they use whatever they want to justify their placements .No one at 220 competes as much as Austin and win or lose he's always in the mix .they refused him two yes in a row at iron man they try to control the rankings by keeping out a kid who would have won Austins coaches and myself all tried to get him in only to be ignored then lied to .Iron man is a joke .

Austin is 3rd at 220 for intermat, 30th overall. But I can tell you Austin is a lot better than Assad who was around 36. Assad is a great wrestler but I've seen him wrestle in person and I never really felt that sense of "this is a legend in the making"

Austin was universally third across most rankings I saw, he's second now with that win over Brinson. Wood is one of the most hyped upper weights in awhile, I'd compare him to Brooks Black but well... Ya. Well I suppose Coon got a lot of hype to, I'm not counting Snyder because he was all around hyped

LOWE USED TO USE Fargo and the other tournaments for his criteria even with Brinson edging Austin last yr with Austin dominating cen reg and doubling at Fargo the only one at 220 he should have passed up Brinson after Fargo .but whatever Brinson 12 just got out wrestled by Austin 30 and no one not wood Brinson and in the last few weeks anyone period has wrestled Austins schedule .I'm setting in the middle of PA so hype doesn't mean squat when your in their neck of the woods and they are no where to be seen.Austin was looking at a rematch with Hemida after the 32 garbage he was entered must have gotten "Hurt" or lost .maybe missed weight who knows .still some very good comp here It's an Awesome set up .

Regardless of what Lowe has as issues with Austin wins Sr Nat gets the ow beating a higher ranked kid in a match hyped up by NNhscas and everyone else and he barely comments about it pumping Schram for four wins witch is great but let's face it Schramm isn't on the same planet as Austin I have seen him teched and losing two matches in the same reg season tournament before Austin never lost a reg season match .and yeah It was Stephen doing the teching.

There are those exceptions but for the most part the young guys are not as competitive at heavier weights

Campolattano was dominant as an underclassman. Now the best example is Kevin Vough who is arguably the best heavyweight in the nation as a sophomore

Had a couple pa hammers. Beat a pa runner up last night 11-0 to advance to today. Today's match was a barn burner. Ryan won it by riding hard and earning the riding time (1:03). Razor thin. Fought off a few deep shots as well.

I saw the 11-0 win over the 8 seed. Just unbelievable. These kids are going to be next to untouchable next year in Ky.

And also I dont want to beat a dead horse here but if that alone doesnt disprove the theory of "Ky kids cant compete" then I just dont know what in the world would.

That was awesome! Kid is a total stud on the mat, and then he was thoughtful enough to ask a girl to prom during an interview after winning a tournament of this magnitude? Great job ATM and congrats on representing Kentucky wrestling the way you have. Your last three weeks have impressed the hell out of me and may others across the country. Keep up the good work and we'll be seeing you at the next level very soon. Also congratulations to all the other Ky representatives this weekend. The state has a bright future with the way some of these younger guys performed. Good job guys!

I think he has built a very strong case for #1 compared to the sparse wrestling Wood has turned in, but I don't know if anyone is confident enough to give him that coveted #1 ranking over someone he hasn't wrestled yet

I THINK Austin just wrestled in PA and was at Fargo so if someone like Hemida Wood or anyone else doesn't show its not his problem he's the guy carrying 4 state titles the undefeated record four runs at nationals and a win at flo along with a double aa at Fargo as a Jr none of which wood has .sorry cadet world silver so what 1 pa title ? I agree 100%. How can you punish a kid when all he has done is win. The only way he could FURTHER cement this case would obviously be to win greco and freestyle at Fargo. Which I really hope be does.

He already has the #1 spot in freestyle greco wrestling at 220 that's why he's the USA Olympian rankings Champion .didn't get any cred for it in the rankings .Over the years the rankers have always used that as an excuse to give others higher spots .In Austins case they did not.He should have passed Brinson up the first rankings after FARGO last yr and wood did not do Fargo Jr's opting for fila cadets and skipping fargo.How can someone with one title be ranked ahead of Austin at this moment .

Hard to say until they wrestle I do know Austin just beat a PA state runner up 13 to 4 and should have had more as anyone would agree who watches the match and they can on flo or ask the Guy in his corner DUTCH.The pa runner up Robb lost to their champ by a couple got majored by Austin probably should have been teched or pinned .Same kid lost to Dunn 10 to 3 .Dunn Hemida Wood none showed at either national tournament .As for freestyle.greco I'm sure wood has more experience than Austin and if he were to win they would use that as criteria for him being 1 yet Austin has the double aa now and gets no credit and I do believe and know wood has more losses than Austin and Austin has avenged his only real loss .As for the international comp question the fila weights are different there is no 220 it's 212 or so and 260 or so if your going hvy in college the intelligent move is to go up particularly if you have been a 220 for 4 yrs in a row .I think he goes up for freestyle greco some want him lower some higher .He of course will choose going up as the idea of cutting will not only bother him but make him feel as if he is avoiding something some says he is not going to be successful at ...going up .International is 260 270 something college 285 .I'm sure it takes a bit but.he should reach those weights or a suitable size to compete with those there with some effort and time .Probably goes hvy at Fargo as he will be looking at where he needs to be a couple months afterwards for the college opens staying 220 in July and needing to be 30 lbs heavier in Nov would not be wise .He probably hits Fargo over 240 perhaps even 250 by NOV and the beginning of college wrestling he can be 260 or more and in far better shape than most he will face .

I see the haters scrambling for excuses lol a loss to a hvy at a charity event in ot lol The real national tournaments are NHSCA and FLO and Fargo Austin is the highest placer or Champion in all three still in HS of course wood hiding all yr or hurt and not competing until his state where he won by a couple points then never showed anywhere at any tournament .And Dunn lost to Hemida earlier this yr And the excuse for Brinson being 2 was a win against Austin and Hemida and his state wins Austin has beaten Brinson worse than he lost to him last yr beaten a 3 X state and ranked kid in Butterbrodt Beaten a PA runner up by a bigger margin than anyone else has and beaten a ranked Mich state champ he teched the 32 champ a couple months before 32 beaten the hvy runner up there lost to the hvy in ot in a charity dual with 5 plus lbs the day before weigh inns 4 days after his 4 title win .and an undefeated streak in HS in his class no one now or in history has had at his weight .He is #1 no doubt about it in any honest man's mind .
