It's that time of year folks
Now for those of you who haven't played before allow me to introduce you to the roles.
You are going to pick a winner for each weight class, and when you do you are going to assign them a point value of 1 through 14. The 14 goes to the wrestler you most expect to win where the 1 goes to the win you are least sure about. So if I assigned my 14 to a healthy Tyler Frankrone then I would get 14 points if Frankrone wins, but if Frankrone decides to sit out the tournament I would get 0 points.
We also do a dark horse, I'm going to go off of Ranger's most current rankings but if enough people say we should wait for his predictions then I will change it. The way your dark horse works is you pick someone ranked fairly low in Ranger's rankings that you think will place a lot higher and you get points for the difference. So if I pick someone ranked 17th and they finish 5th I get 12 bonus points.
Finally we have the tiebreaker which is you pick the team you think will win plus the score you think you will have.
Alright I think that was enough here are my picks

Every year it feels like Angel gets overlooked. How many years in a row does have to reach the finals at 138 to be 'favored'. I'm sure he will only use it as motivation. He's a great wrestler and even better young adult.

Love Angel, super great kid. He's funky and has great hips, but I feel Logan can handle the funkiness because he wrestles from his butt a lot. But I feel Logan is bigger and a little stronger. It's was close in my head and Angel has a much easier draw, so it may actually work in his favor. Wouldn't be surprised if he is on to of the podium Saturday night, but I gave the edge to Logan. I also made this prediction based on Logan not being sick like he was at regionals.

Sorry if I have ever underestimated or overlooked him I do not see him as much but He seems a great Kid and wrestler ,Never fear and he can keep his head up if he wins this year he Will be the OW at least in My book .Good luck to Him !.

Not sure. I think 138 will be Angel, Logan or AJ...all of them are well respected, multiple-time placers. What if some kid comes out of nowhere, not ranked in top 5 and upsets some studs to win at a different weight? Good shot at OW.
120 is a crazy deep weight class too. If someone possibly knocks off Saul I think they would have to be considered too.

What if Sparh or Binder Wins 138 ? WOULD THEY NOT BE CONSIDERED OW even more so than anyone for Winning for outdoing 2 State Champs ?? ALL DEPENDS ON what you get OW for , Performance that Day or Body of Work or a Mixture ,I have seen it both ways .Seen a kid get fastest pin most pins and have the most dominating performance at state under worse conditions than any state champ ever and not win ow then a kid who had never won a title get ow for beating that same kid the next yr ?It all depends On the motivations of the coaches .
A COUPLE AT 220 Could win and be undefeated but not beat any returning Champ but have to get by an undefeated opponent .A lot of scenarios .The easiest case would have been If Frankrone pinned through he would have been a good choice on Body of work and repping his State even if his class was weak .What if someone knocks off Saul maybe they could be a candidate..
In the end it looks like whoever wins 138 Angel Logan Binder Or Sparh and yes Sparh could win will be OW .

sometimes i wish more had your knowledge of the sport. Doesnt take rocket science for someone to see 138 iS the toughest weight class. The top 3 not only can, but do compete very well nationally. Name another weight class with 3 state finalist from 2015?
CHASING OWs or MOWs, There could be books written about it , Picture a kid with 2 undefeated seasons and titles with only two losses at H'S state tournaments 1 to a returning champ sr by 1 point another to a stud by 1 point ,Never won an ow even with a year having Fastest pin most pins least time and wrestling up a weight from his lowest weight that year More national accolades and wins against tougher opponents than anyone in KY history except maybe 1 .,
Picture a 3 X state champ from a legendary KY wrestling Family a true mat Warrior WHO REPPED NATIONALLY MORE THAN ANYONE CURRENTLY WRESTLING IN KY IMO Never winning an OW .
I HAVE SEEN SOME KIDS NEVER WIN AN OW WHO DESERVED ONE MORE THAN ANYONE WRESTLING THIS YEAR .JUST MY OPINION BASED ON FACTS OF COURSE LOL .NEVER SEEN TWO STUDS LIKE KEVIN COOPER AND MY BOY STEPHEN COME UP AND TRAIN HARD AND SET THE BAR FOR WHEREVER THEY WERE .STEPHEN WAS A TEAM OW WINNER AT MOELLER AS FRESH LOL.COOPER EASILY THE MOST RECOGNIZED AND FEARED KY WRESTLER I HAVE EVER SEEN AT LEAST IN OHIO .
JUST ME RANTING ON TWO KIDS I SEEN COME UP AT THE SAME TIME .
AND MAKING A POINT ABOUT OWS I HAVE ONLY EVER SEEN TWO KIDS WHO NO COACHES UNDER ANY SCENARIO COULD DENY OWS AND THEY COULD COME UP WITH REASONS FOR OTHER KIDS TO WIN EVEN THEN IF THEY WANTED .
BROCK A FIVE X CHAMP AUSTIN for doing it all .
THERE COULD BE SOMEONE WHO STANDS OUT FOR WHATEVER REASONS.THE BINDNER KID WITH 1 LEG WINS I WOULD GIVE HIM THE OW IN A HEART BEAT .
AS FOR NATIONALLY AND KIDS WHO HAVE REPPED THE STATE AND I KNOW EVERYONE WILL MURDER ME FOR THIS BUT WITH OUT FRANKRONE WHO REALLY ONLY HAD GREAT NATIONALLY AL SUCCESS THE LAST YR OR A LITTLE LONGER .I DONT SEEN ANY NATIONAL LEVEL UPPER THREATS EXCEPT SAUL .ERDMAN ANGEL AND BINDER HAVE DONE NOTHING OF NOTE ON A NATIONALLY LEVEL COMPARED TO NUMEROUS WRESTLER OF THE PAST FEW YEARS.SO I HAVE TO DISAGREE ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL COMMENT ABOUT THEM JUST BEING REAL .
I DO NOT SEEN ANY TOP PLACINGS AT IN SEASON NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS OR OUT OF SEASON TOURNAMENTS BY ANY OF THEM ? IN THE PAST YOU HAD Brock FRANKRONE placing at iron man and winning an nhsca title along with state titles .Faust winning state titles placing at fila and Fargo ,A Stephen winning state titles placing Fargo Iron man power Ade double a a as well as 2 X freestyle a a and 2 X nhsca placer 1 at srs,Not sure of all of Fahys wins but he was in the mix at a lot of national stuff.
ANDREONI IS AN NHSCA PLACER AND IN THE MIX NOW .
Can't forget Cornett at NHSCA
But outside there they have not struck any gold .
AND AUSTIN WHO WAS IN THE MIX EVERYWHERE HE WASNT ON TOP OF A PODIUM .
NOT TO MUCH NATIONAL LEVEL THUNDER AT STATE THIS YEAR WITH OUT TYLER .
IF SAUL WERE TO PIN OR TECH THROUGH MAYBE EVEN A MAJOR HERE OR THERE IT WOULD BE HARD TO DENY HIM .
BOTTOM LINE IS YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN AND WHO MAY PULL ON THE HEART STRINGS OR EGOS OF EVERYONE OR HAVE THE GREAT WEEKEND.
BUT YEAH 138s champ will probably take it hands down .

I added a bit, but admittedly I do not know everything everyone has done but I do know what tournaments are considered national level and without any freestyle greco success like only a few KY wrestlers have ever had ,You have to look at NHSCAs some Nat duals,Maybe flo and not many KY guys hitting in season. Nat tourneys like power Ade or Iron Man .And I overlooked Boston who was in KY two years he of course had a lot of success nationally without any fr greco thunder like Fausz Austin Or the one and only Jo Jo Carr or Stephen in the past and I don't recall him ever hitting Iron Man or power Ade but I'm not sure and never saw him at NHSCAs opting for the newer flo nationals. And he never went to Nat duals with team KY like most of the KY champs did .
I agree 138 is toughest weight. Doesn't guarantee the OW will be from that weight. SOOO many different scenarios can play out this weekend.

I told someone this week I see 5 kids in that weight class that either have been or will be state champs: Ervin, Hurst, Moore, Wells, Storck. Maybe even Insko...he's still in middle school!
I agree but ,have to disagree on your comment in order to be 5 who have been or will be the ones who have not would have to win ???? WELLS IS A SR ?HE has not won so if he is going to be one or has been he would have to win this yr your comment is a bit false and misleading ,I do not know stork or insko so I could not comment on Em but I don't think they are both state champs now .As for Wells he of course in my opinion like Moore is worthy of state champ status .Hurst is a former champ I believe .

As for match ups other than all the mid to lightweight studs going to clash and with Frankrone missing .There seems to be an upper weight showdown at 220 worthy of any notice that the other classes may be getting Reed a Jr runner up last yr and an undefeated record vs Portman a Sr with 50 plus wins and undefeated .Hello .......not to many undefeated former state placers going to mix it up and few rarely do there's going to be good stuff all over to watch as well as Can Young finally fulfill his destiny at Hvy?
3 minutes ago, marriedtothemat said:Wells is a junior.
Lol IBD I thought he was a Sr ,that's great he and Tanner and my son have been friends it seems so long I thought he was a Sr ,That's good I will enjoy watching him another year along with Tanner and the others at CC ,I suspect He and Moore will separate classes ,They have had some wars along with the others down there in the lighter weights .Hope he does get a title but still not 5 champs in that group till five win !! When you have middle school kids wrestling and training and competing with High Schoolers it is easy to lose track ,I put Brady through some work outs five or so years back along with a few others from KY and Ohio he was tough ,Too bad he didn't show up more often or He would be a State Champ already lol we have ongoing bets ,He almost got to shave my head last yr if he would have won state ,He gets my pimp leather coat if he wins this yr ,Thought he was a Sr so I guess he gets two shots at Styling and profiling like a Boss and I will probably be a bit colder this winter or the next .Hope he gets a W .
But I guess my golden boy Karius Washington will pick up his dead weight and WIN STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A bit surprised so close to state and all quiet for the most part ,Some very dominant guys out of the picture ,Yenter himself told me he lost twice to tucker but was coming for him of course and Frankrone out do to injury leaving a class that he had sent anyone who could manage either fat and happy or lean and mean ,leaving me with a KY grade school state story to tell ,Having lived in Ohio for a few years and having to to move because they sold our House we rented we moved to Independence ,Me and the Boys would often go Jogging by Thomas Moore ,Some of you know the duck ponds and stuff around the area nice scenery and all ,Anyway a certain dad/Coach not sure what he was would often see us there and beep we would wave he would go on but anyway we get to grade school state and people are like what are you doing here you guys live in Ohio and I was like no we live in Independence here's bills and what not in our name "End of story right "No lol.
So anyway we are in the hallway waiting to weigh in and this coach person who always waved at us while we were jogging by thomas moore was waiting with their son as well we are standing on one side of the hall him directly across so he says I thought you guys lived in Ohio and I'm like we did but we moved do you think know we just come to Thomas Moore all the time to run we live down the street from there LOL and he's like oh I didn't know ,so anyway the guy is like what class is Austin in and I say he's wrestling 100 I think , And he goes well that's my boy +=÷= class and I'm like we'll that's what he weighs and he goes well He's been wanting to wrestle Austin ,And I'm like we'll guess what ..He will get to .. so the guy and his boy is standing there and the line moves and all of a sudden he grabs his boy and splits ,a few minutes pass he comes back gets in line a ways back and his boy is drinking gatorade and has two bananas in his hand and he's eating ,Needless to say after weighing in in his sweats he doesn't make weight and wrestles up and comes out of the weigh in room and says dang he didn't make weight so I say it's okay they can wrestle after they are done .exhibition and of course they did ...Twice that day once a quick pin the other a beating ...but what made me mad was there was such a stink about us not living in KY when we did and this dad in particular raised a fuss .of course we all became friends pretty much later and I cheered for his son to win state years later .
Long boring story ,But it's the truth kind of our KY Youth state story, Think Austin wrestled a CC kid in finals and Stephen wrestled Logan Jones Not sure what grade must have been about 4th 5th for Stephen he had just started to get extremely Nasty as far as wrestling level he was hitting cross picks and good stuff all over getting too good for me to even coach back then .
ANYWAY FRANKRONE IS SUCH A BEAST,AND I KNOW PEOPLE WILL SAY THEY DID NOT RUN OR WHATEVER AND IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT THERE'S ONLY ONE CLASS IN THE STATE THAT THE #1 RANKED KID HAS NEVER PLACED AT STATE , Actually making me want to see him win even more because he could have got out of dodge like everyone else .
SAW HIM WIN REGIONAL AND HE DID A GREAT ICEMAN Chuck LIDELL VICTORY POSE AND YELL NO TELLING WHAT WE CAN EXPECT AT STATE EVEN FROM A FIRST RD WIN LOL.
ANYWAY BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE SAFE TRAVELS AND SAFE TOURNEY ,LIKE TO SEE THE TITLES GET SPREAD AROUND AND SRS WIN BUT THEN AGAIN IF UNDER CLASS MEN DO NOT GET THE Ws legends are not made .
AND PER SOMEONE ELSE'S COMMENT ,I AGREE ANGEL VASQUEZ DOES SEEM TO BE OVERLOOKED AS FAR AS CHAMPS GO ,SURE THERE WILL BE SOMEONE SURPRISES DAY 1 .
BIG QUESTIONS ON MY MIND
1 Can AJ get that Title AND BACK UP THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT ,I THINK HIS CONFIDENCE IS ACTUALLY WORKING ON THE PSYCHE OF HIS OPPONENTS ,WE WILL SEE .
2 Can Grazziani Actually pull it together for 1 whole tournament and win State NOW THAT FRANKRONE IS OUT.
3 WILL REED BE THE NEW 220 CHAMPS OR IS PORTMAN GOING OUT WITH A TITLE OVER WHO I SEE AS THE PEOPLES CHAMPION.
4 CAN YOUNG WIN AND LIVE UP TO HIS LEGEND .
5 IS SAUL THE NEW KING OF KY WRESTLING .
6 HOW MANY NEGATIVE CHECKS CAN ONE MAN GET ON ONE POST ?
7 Can Brady Wells leave All Tech pimped out in style wearing the Nature Boys Leather jacket .
8 WILL there still be a Nature Boy next yr .hahahahah.

I was unaware that AJ competed nationally. What has he done or where has he been? Not a knock, he has been my pick all year long.
Tucker Hurst and Saul Ervin with match of the tourney so far. Saul got escape with 30 seconds left to win 5-4. He may not have another match that close all weekend. But he's got another state finalist in the quarters with Wells. Seed the damn state tournament already.
It absolutely should be seeded. There isn't a reason not too. At the very least seed the top half and random draw the rest. There is probably a very simple solution to this.
Union with 10 in the quarters and a 30.5 point lead over second place Oldham County after two rounds. Figured if they came from a 'weak' region they wouldn't have had that many in the quarters. Nothing to do with being tough wrestlers I guess. Smh...
Well if you can't stand the Honesty lol
HOW ABOUT THIS COMPARE THE NUMBER OF PLACERS OTHER THAN UNION KIDS WHO ACTUALLY END UP PLACING COMPARE TO KIDS FOR REG 6 OR 4 .LET'S NOT BE A CRYBABY OR ANYTHING IT'S SOMETHING THIS COMMON KNOWLEDGE Even AMONGST UNION COACHES ,It's day one of course they have a bunch still in as they should .
Would you prefer someone to say WOW they come from the toughest reg so you can pat yourselves on the back .
Trust me it's not like when CC won a few yrs back from the toughest reg that yr .There that's my plug for the home team and reg hahahah
And yes they come from a weak region. Compared to 6 And 4 who are their rivals over the last few yrs in reg and how many teams from 4 and 6 would beat them during that time .
6 out of 8 matches at 220 in championship Rd 2 were pins 1 inj Def I norm win .gonna be some clashes .
And yes day 1 if you get a high seed from a weak reg you wrestle lower seeds and your team from a weak reg can rack up points.
I know union is good but they have won state titles before because their reg is not as tough as others .
You are literally nothing around here Natureboy go back to Cambellsville and tend your cows
It would be boring as heck without Natureboy. I might kid him a little but I enjoy reading his stuff.

Agreed. Sounds like get roasted is stating that CC is more rural than UC. Really?!!
I'm lost now ,Campbellsville is not CC ,Campbell County is CC and it's like 10 min from Cincy,And there are some Cows but I don't have any or tend Em LOL I did live in Corbin as a kid not really a lot of cows there either ,Lotsa shotguns though fishing and Hunting and some drinking "not legal there when i wad young"I always take up for Union it's kids and coaches but if your from a team from a tough district where your guys either do not make it out or get lower seeds because it's tougher then it's annoying ,Not a real knock on Union just a Fact .
As is usually the case I can argue but it would be like dropping a nuclear bomb on a country that hasn't developed the wheel yet ,seriously I am Literally nothing around here just go away hahahahahah Should I go cry now do you actually know who I am and how thick my skin has to be .
I have like 10 million posts on forums .someone with 3 tells me to kick rocks or I'm nothing I just kind of laugh of course your someone else hiding ,and I have more state titles and trophies In my house than you have ever gotten a piece of @% $ but it's okay .lol

Union is also a small school with 650 students or approximately 325 male students not a lot to pick from but they get it do year in and year out. What size are the schools in region 4 and 6? ST X and Trinity all boys around 2000 to 2500 students?
Yes and private so they can recruit as they wish ,life's not fair ,don't shoot the messenger !! I give union props always small school and all but it doesn't change facts .If CC had the team it had the last few years going against the comp union Did in their region they would have won state ,Same may be able to be said for others .
I have seen kid after kid not make it out of 6 that would have made it out of Unions reg.Im not knocking them it is what it is .4 is tough this yr they probably feel the same .
Now let's slaughter the Nature Boy for telling the truth.
I went to highlands we had less than 100 srs total and won umpteen state titles with a lot less males than union in a higher div than we had to be in for yrs. Facing tough comp .just saying

I didn't know Highlands won umpteen state titles in wrestling.
No evidently CC didn't have to switch reg they won coming out of the toughest reg according to Ranger and the reg scoring at state the only school I have seen do that the last few yrs.
And I said titles I didn't say any particular sport .I'm not hating on Union. Just stating Facts .I'm a fan of the sport and even Union but if you get 14 out of a weaker region your going to have advantages along with higher seeds once your there that add false points to your reg scoring when it's done .

So how many titles has Highlands won compared to Union (in all sports)? If you are just stating facts could you please give me the real facts, not that you aren't correct but when you make a statement like that tell everyone the numbers. I'm not hating on your statement, I would just like to know the real numbers.
I have no clue how many titles Highlands has won In Football or all together 0 in wrestling I changed schools quite a bit but I went to Highlands part of fresh and all Sr yr ,My good buddie Zeke Reynolds played Pro and another I knew went pro and got a SuperBowl ring his rookie yr MARTY Moore.
I do know some guy from Highlands brought up a coupla brawlers who snatched 6 titles and one pinned a Union kid in 9 sec last yr at State in the semis and was a better athlete than anyone I have ever seen at Highlands and proved it ........Hey I like Union man to the point of getting our home team mad at me and they are an asset to the sport and state but I just call it as I see it.

Listen, if your going to make statements you need to be able to back them up or don't make them. That is some free advice! Have a great time at the state tournament.

There you have it I said umpteen so I said exactly how many they won ,I suggest you get your facts straight before correcting a Brotha. And I backed all my statements up for the most part all my life hahaha
Here's some free advice to you don't argue over facts that everyone in your state knows is true no matter how much it stings .
And I will have fun at state you do the same .
Region 5 with a great showing thus far with Oldham, Woodford, and North Oldham being 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively.
As far as the above post goes, that's the Big School Duals State Champ, Big School Duals State Runner Up and Small School Duals State Runner Up. Sound like a tough region to me.
Sounds like they have the toughest region this year ,That's what I said that's what I meant that's the facts no arguing it .
Probably so. Union is a truly blessed program as a whole. If the current scoring holds true,
1 Union- Small School Dual State Champs
2 Oldham- Big School Dual State Champs
3 Woodford- Big School State Runner Up
4 North Oldham- Small School Runner Up
Who says duals don't mean anything?? Lol.

Yeah if your competing against someone who isn't .
And if your dad knows more than everyone else about training and winning you can go undefeated
I got 73 points.
I had to leave at 170.
Who won MOW, Quickest Pin, and Coach of the Year?
Ochsenbein mow
Landon young most pins/shortest time
Coach Riordan - coach of yr
Didn't hear them do a quickest pin, u may have missed it. But fastest I remember was young gor one in 10 or 12 seconds. Not sure if 1 was faster
How did a union coach not win coach of the year. They dominated. Congrats to Dallas on MOW tho! Huge win. Sheffer was dominant as well, plus Landon Young pretty much abused the heavyweight class to state title. Overall a great tournament but still not a fan of how they ran the finals matches.
Wow ,Just because your team wins your coach doesn't have to win coach of the year Oldham did work they improved greatly and added to the level of wrestling in the state obviously due in part to their coaches efforts .I think it was spot on .
CONGRATS TO YOUNG BUT NOT A VERY IMPRESSIVE GROUP OF HEAVIES AT ALL .I WOULD DARE SAY IF YOU TOOK THE TOP EIGHT 220S AND TOP 8 HEAVIES ALL IN ONE CLASS AND THEY WRESTLED YOU WOULD HAVE MORE 220S ON A PODIUM .Congrats to young but with his capabilities he did not live up to his potential or anywhere near it in HS as far as wrestling His finals opponent totally outmatched physically was in the match till he chose down young being big and physical couldn't manage a single shot .I was totally depressed by the whole heavy class.Nice posing at the end but when you come in as a fresh who is expected to be maybe a 4 xer probably best to go out humble with only 1 under your belt and so many losses to underdogs .Don't take it wrong I like young when we talk but dang if he had been my kid he would have had four or more and be a national name guaranteed such potential that was not cultivated .
Chandler wrestled smart and we'll at 220 in what may have been the best class in the tournament and that's what I said good kids tough comp all hungry .2 undefeateds neither winning .that's as tough as it gets
Natureboy,
. I Would have to say 220 was definitely the toughest but that's just because Im one of chandlers coaches. He has been waiting patiently for Austin to graduate in order to get his chance at the title. He had a tough road to the finals and kept his focus. He stayed humble and hungry all season.
Also I agree on coach of the year. Just because you win doesn't make you the best coach. Oldham county has greatly improved and made a statement this year. It's good to see the level of competition moving up in Kentucky.
Not sure who the best coach is ,I'm sure there are plenty of choices ,Spreading the love cannot be wrong and Oldham had a great year seems an obvious choice .
In the future now and again maybe pick a coach that doesn't have a Super Team but goes above and beyond ,Hard to say not sure of criteria .
CHANDLER did extremely well kept his head in the game never broke won a very tough class and did not give up on a dream over the years and had been put on the back burner as far as hype ,behind Reed and probably Portman at the end I will say this if I'm not mistaken he was at NHSCAs a few yrs back so he has been around and tested the waters outside ky and did not back down or give up ,He could have won OW as far as I'm concerned .
As for Austin ,I do not think anyone actually came for him he came in with a lot of legit cred and backed it up and added to it every year ,You can talk all the crap you want to psyche someone out but when you have someone who backs it up and does even more than your claiming not much you can do .
No one ever out worked Austin maybe his brother or others at times but all around all aspects I doubt anyone sees the day anyone in ky does .A smart person or coach would have studied him all his moves and matches were available so plans could have been made to stop him but actually scoring on him is another thing His D was as good or better than his O ,he gave up one td ever in KY and it was at state duals and he tripped on the mat while circling and his opponent jumped on him and then got pinned .
I expected a big Showdown once between him And Bobby Bryant who had the physical tools to battle him but they never met Bryant was smart he went hvy and won and that's what I would have done if I were a 220 facing Austin After Newberry Austin was never really pushed by anyone in KY .

With all due respect to you and your opinion, my son excelled in several sports. While not measuring up to your standards in wrestling he did participate in 3 sports throughout his high school carrier while achieving nearly straight A's in his course work. (He had three B's in his 12 years of school). He has been a two time discus state champion and runner up another reason year and could end up with a third totaled this year. He has one shot put title with a runner up and a forth place another year. He was an All American football player with a five star rating his senior year. This earned him a completely paid for 4 year scholarship to a Division one school. He was offered by nearly every SEC school and several Big 10 schools and could have gone where ever he chose. He was ranking, in rivals final ranking, third in the nation at offensive tackle in the 2016 class and number 15 in the nation overall in this class. He was president off the FFA chapter this year as well as active in our local Church. He strives to do the best at whatever he takes in but he has to spread out his time in many interest. He achieved all of this not doing any of these sports full time. If this is a failure to you, I think your idea of success is somewhat flawed. I suspect he could have had the success you mentioned had he focused on just one sport or activity. However, he chose to enjoy several and has has a fair level of success with all of his ebdevors. Even more, he is widely accepted and loved where ever he goes. I also know his heart belongs to our Lord and savior. This last point is the point that makes me most proud. Maybe he did not live up to the billing but I can tell you as his fathe, I could not be more proud of my son than I am right now! I expect him to only get better as he matures and grows into a man.
I would be proud of him as well ,There are a lot of kids who do multiple sports who do not have his tools or capabilities and a lot are spiritual and many loved as well with good gpas .As I said I enjoy talking to him he seems a great young man and I'm sure he is adept at numerous sports as many would be with his gifts .and I'm not Knocking his win or accomplishment
I know he is loved and everyone is proud of him as they should be .

Alright I think that was enough here are my picks14- Brandon Reed, 220
13- Max Emerson, 182
12- Bryce Sheffer, 126
11- Jackson Oxford, 145
10- Casey Cornett, 170
9- Keegan Duncan, 132
8- Landon Young, 2857- Logan Erdman, 138
6- Hudson Heidorf, 160
5- Ben Barton, 152
4- Tanner Yenter, 1133- Adam Bender, 1062- Daniel Kimble, 1951- Ryan Moore, 120
Dark Horse- Dylan Grey, 160, 13th
Tiebreaker- Union, 191.5
Total- 78
Dark Horse- 13-5= 8
Final Score- 86

Hmmm. Clairvoyant? Dallas did deserve it. Had to run the gauntlet to get there and then a great match vs Saul. Well done!
A few deserving ,Bindner,Chandler ,Come to mind for me .Bindner had a great match in finals over a stud .Chandler had a couple matches over some studs with a not so spectacular finals because of seeding in KY he had his big matches throughout .
Ochebein sp Dallas ,Looked spectacular a well oiled machine and it wasn't so much that he beat Saul to me as it was the fact I do not think he doubted he would win and watching the match he never looked like he would it was one of those matches two good kids going at it .It wasn't a match where someone waited for a mistake they both had O.
HE DESERVED THE OW ,ALTHOUGH I THINK IF ERDMAN HAD BEATEN ANGEL OR ANGEL ERDMAN ONE OF THEM WOULD HAVE WON OW Because it gets based on history a bit as well Bindner could not really get it for beating Angel for a couple reasons ,His name was out there so it wasn't quite as much a big upset .Saul is an Erving and the very name carries weight even though Angel may be a bigger mark to take down win wise .And the million lb elephant in the room Most people wanted to see Bindner lose .
IN ALL HONESTY Bindner could have won it his class was tougher even though I'm not sure who else he knocked off besides Angel not sure who sent Thompson to the boneyard .
AND SPEAKING OF THOMPSON HE NEARLY BEAT ERDMAN AND WAS COMING BACK ON HIM WHEN HE WENT FOR SOMETHING DUMB AND GOT STUCK .ERDMAN WAS FORTUNATE TO GET THE W THERE THAT WAS A GOOD MATCH .
Im assuming you mean Johnson. Logan controlled the match throughout and never lost the lead. Johnson is a solid wrestler. Not easy running the table after a huge loss in the first round.
Thought Aj deserved MOW. Beating Johnson, Oxford (kid is very tough), and Angel. I don't think it gets any tougher than that. But you can't argue Dallas getting it. He beat some tough kids as well.
120 and 138 were probably two of the toughest weights at state. 220 was right up there too.
IF BINDER BEAT THE JOHNSON KID AS WELL I WOULD SAY THAT GAVE HIM A BIT OF A STRONGER CASE FOR OW .I GET KIDs CONFUSED I DID NOT KNOW JOHNSON OR THOMPSON BOTH WERE GOOD WRESTLERS AND I TRIED TO Catch THEM I GOT EM CONFUSED OF COURSE .
I SAW THE MATCH IT WAS NO CAKE WALK AND HE MAY HAVE LED AND MAY HAVE BEEN A BETTER WRESTLER BUT IM PRETTY SURE HE GOT SCORED ON AND MORE THAN ONCE SO HE didn't control the match it was a match not a one way street and the kid was coming back and Logan was losing the superiority he had at times in the match they got in a funky scramble and Logan caught him and stuck him .
True a super job coming back to take third after a first Rd loss awesome job and a great way to end a HS run if not with a title ,But if you say it wasn't close or that he controlled the whole match I would disagree .
If you want the truth I had the feeling that he was gassing and the other kid was taking over the match then the scramble and pin.I think he caught a bad break Rd 1 and a lucky one his last Rd ,Not with the win but with the pin.
Regardless he has always been one of my favorites and I was hoping for him to go out with another title .Hopefully he learns from his trials College is no joke and no place to slack off .
The khsaa site says 6 to 5 for 3rd at 138 I thought Logan got the pin but I may be wrong .

78 points for me. Got 9 weight classes correct.
He was up by 2 and kicked him in the last few seconds to avoid a reversal. Not saying it was an easy match at all. My point was he controlled the match and maintained the lead throughout. No he did not pin him. Hats off to Trent. Hes a fine young man and an exceptional wrestler.

I'm not quite sure what you wanted Landon to accomplish this year. He reached the ultimate goal in Kentucky wrestling...BEING A STATE CHAMPION. Also, being the caliber football player he is has been a great asset to his wrestling.
I'm going to be completely honest and myself ,I like him I have talked to him he is a good kid /young man it seems ,I saw him wrestle as a fresh he had unreal potential , He won state the ultimate goal for some and many .
I have seen national champs without his potential and Multiple x champs without his potential .
IF I WERE HIS COACH /Father /Trainer and in a kid like his case manager ,I would have had him at Nationals all over the country camps and then some Football and track are great and no excuse for not doing more with what he obviously had ,I have seen him lose to kids who he should have completely dominated and even this year keep it close till the third with a kid I doubt could have made finals at 220 .
If I say I would have done more or I expected more I would take it as a compliment and I know there are plenty of coaches out there saying or the king the same thing .I never saw him at Nat duals or anything deserving of someone else like him who needed to be tested and pushed .He could have been the most dominant wrestler in the .....Country under the right people and still did everything he did in football and track .I said country not ky...not sure what bigger compliment I could give a Human Being .
Saw the scramble between Erdman and Johnson in the late 3rd .for some reason I thought he got the pin .Long day ..It was a good match the kid looked in shape and wrestled well .
