I know that ranger does a high school ranking for the site, I was just curious if anybody else would be interested in a middle school ranking for this site? Any info or reply's would be appreciated

Honestly, I wouldn't like to see it.

They are young kids with very little experience. I don't feel like it would be a good idea to rank them. Most kids don't even start wrestling until 5th-8th grade, so you wouldn't even have much to work with.

Mathound: I disagree. I would love to see rankings. Thats just my opinion. My son is a 6th grader and has been wrestling for 6yrs now. I see more kids starting at a young age. This would be something fun to kick around.

The reason i brought this up is just for the fact that alot of kids use ranking and somewhat recognition to motivate them in practice and meets, eventhough they dont mean anything at the state tournament the kids still like the fact that they have been recognized throughout the year for their abilities..  It was just a thought...  I would still like some more feedback if possible..

I think it's a great idea these kids need to be recognized for there hard work i totally agree with the person that said it would motivate the kids to work harder in practice and hopefully make them want to continue with there wrestling career. May also be a great thing to use to make the sport more appealing to those who have never wrestled.

I understand. Personally, I am not a fan of rankings much at all but I understand it creates interest and I suppose something to work for. I never worked hard to be ranked, but for the end result. It just depends on how you look at it, I'm not a fan of them but a lot of people are.

Ranger does an amazing job with our High School Rankings.

We are trying to put together some middle school rankings at our site www.kyswa.org.  They are out there now, but they were put together as a very wild guess.  They are due to be updated soon.  We have not had much feedback from coaches about where their kids are at....so it has been challenging to put the individual rankings together....and it also makes the team rankings nothing more than a guess. 

Mathound - i agree with you that the rankings don't mean anything more than a complete guess at where people will place.  But as a coach, I know I will use it as motivation to say "hey, you've beat this kid 4 times....and yet he's ranked ahead of you!!  ARE YOU GOING TO STAND FOR THAT!!"  I'll use any cheap trick I can think of!!  :wink: :wink:

Plee I cant wait to see the rankings on your site, Since I started this thread I have been watching a few middle school tourneys and some dual meets and if its ok with the middle school fans on this site I would like to post my opinion of what the rankings COULD look like. Remember this is just my opinion though.

i would like to see rankings as well. I know for a fact i have beaten good wrestlers but i dont ever have a way to tell how my skills are compared to wrestlers across the state. So i would like to know just how good a certain wrestler is that i beat so i can compare

P.S. do u really think shirey should be #1 at 131? He has kind of come outta nowhere. he didnt win a single match at regions last year.

Hey what about Malcom Glover at 117 has yet to lose a match wrestled at Trinity MS duals he is from north have u seen him pretty impressive for first year.

Guys I want to try and do these rankings on a regular basis if you can continue to give me input on matches and wrestlers I will do my best to turnout good rankings... thanks for your input, keep it coming.

Man, just a few suggestions:

1) Cox from LaRue is undefeated has beaten the kid ahead of him, BIG NO NO!!!!!

2) Ray from LaRue has 1 loss, and has beaten all but 1 kid ahead of him!!!

dscicle,  cox beat McCrearys jv 124 which is Hurstle Upchurch..  Sammons was gone with the highschool the weekend of the Larue co preview..  I will look into the other..  thanks for the input though, any suggestions are appreciated.

oldman, it really doesn't matter. Cox has won both tournaments he has entered in KY and even dominated the private schools in TN!!! You can't assume Samones will beat Cox until they meet. I know Cox didn't lose to anyone from McCreary Co. last year. unless Samones medaled ahead of cox, the benefit of the doubt MUST go to Cox.

Zach salyers from johnson central will probably be at 103, and  defenantly should be ranked 1st

I have not seen any talk of Ockerman Middle . They came in second at conference , losing to Campbell Co.  I know Gray was not there , but that is still pretty good for a  second year program with alot of kids new to the sport . They beat Twenhoffel in the pool by tie breaker after losing to them by a point during the week before .They are at Oak Hills this weekend with Twen. and Camp. Co. I'll post whatever results I can get but will miss some matches . They also beat Conner and Woodland in pool to earn the right to go against CC in the conf. Campbell looks very good to this point . Best of luck to all and let's bring some hardware back to NKY. 

i would like to see the rankings, but some the kids ranked on there are 1st year or second year wrestlers and it hard to rank them over some of the more experience kids. I do enjoy seeing them though

Not exactly true eaglewrestler12, Shirey placed 5th at regions and did win some matches, just not enough.
