Sean Fausz

Topic ID: 13221 | 101 Posts

Wolfpack Open champ at 133. Outscored his opponents 58-8. Nice job!

Nice job, Champion. Sean has always been tough, best in class for sure.

Getting after it again at Journeyman. 3-0, first place finish. Two TF and a 7-2 win in finals. Ranked #18, sure to climb.

Big test coming up Friday vs Nebraska and #4 Montoya.

#Packmentality

Lost a tough one to #4 Montoya 11-5. No big shakes losing to the senior. He was game for the match.

After dropping during the first week of the season, Fausz' ranking has climbed. Currently #14 in one publication, after a 2-2 performance at Midlands.

He's definitely been doing very well. Had a solid freshman year also. Should be a 4x qualifier! 17-4, not a ton of quality wins, but wins none the less.

2015-16: 2016 automatic NCAA qualifier at 125 pounds as a redshirt freshman … Finished the season 17-10, including 9-7 in duals … Ranked in all four Coaches’ Panel Rankings, a season-best #17 in the final poll … Went 3-1 in ACC action … Went 4-7 against ranked foes … Was 10-1 in bonus point matches, including four pins … Went 1-2 at the NCAA Championships … Earned All-ACC honors with a second place finish at the ACC Championship … Entering as the No. 2 seed, reached the finals with a 4-2 win over #25 Bentley of Pittsburgh … Started the season 3-0 in duals at the Northeast Duals, including an 8-6 win over #19 Petry of Minnesota … Top win of the season was a 5-4 win over #9 Lambert of Nebraska in a road dual … His final eight opponents before the NCAA Championships were all ranked, he picked up three wins … Placed fifth at the Wolfpack Open, going 6-1 … Finished the season ranked #20 nationally at 125 pounds by FloWrestling.com … Named to 2015-16 ACC Academic Honor Roll.

.....takes the Appy Open with a convincing 9-2 win in the finals.

Nathan Boston took 3rd at 133 (only loss was 7-6 to kid from VaTech) and Keegan Duncan went 0-2 in same weight.

D. Lampe took 2nd

Daggone, how'd I miss all that?! Nice showing

Larry Early wrestling unattached with Old Dominion didn't see that as his landing spot after leaving Minnesota...

He clocks in at #12 this week! N.C. State takes on Va Tech this weekend. #2 Joey Dance v #12 Sean Fausz. I believe it will be on espn3

Wow, cant speak highly enough about Fausz. He came out like a ball of fire against a very worthy opponent. He had the opening takedown, but in the end Dance proved to be too much. Can't be proud enough of what fausz is accomplishing! Constant attacks and offense.

As for dance, I haven't seen him this possessed in a long time. Usually he's content to go up by a point and hang on. That technique has caught up to him the last two tournaments. He's looking very tough.

Yeah, Dance was on another level, and JACKED. Agree with all you stated. Loved that Fausz went right after Dance.

125 | Fausz with the TAKEDOWN with 5 seconds left in OT! Defeats 2-time All-American Youtsey 5-3!

Wow! That's a very impressive win. Youtsey is a staple in that Wolverine line up. Congrats Sean!

Awesome job again! Proving my point about him being CC greatest! Where can I watch?

Huge win!

3 seed in ACC in 6y man bracket. Draws 6 seed 1st round with a potential date with 2 seed in semis.

Fausz Into finals with a dominant first round win and exciting semifinals win 12-5. Rematch with Dance for ACC title. NCAA spot locked up.

That semi match was awesome. 5-5 mid 3rd, great scramble that went to vid review, eventually no points. Sean gets TD with 39 seconds left and adds backs to ice it. Gets Dance in the finals.

Finals at 7.

Where can i find a stream ?

Lost in OT, 3-1. Looked great keeping Dance at bay. Fausz was in on one shot but Dance donkey kicked out of it. Neither guy able to ride from referee's position. Finishing above his seed should help in NCAA bracket placement.

Dance is tough to finish on! Next up NCAAs

Stud

26 and 6 , Now a 2x qualifier who is currently ranked top 10 per intermat and flo.

Sean was seeded 12th. Has a very winnable first riding then should have 5 seed Lambert. It will be a tough go but anything is possible.

Pretty awesome having a ky kid get seeded! How often does that happen?

Great to see a KY kid seeded. 25-6 record against tough competition, that gets you seeded. Intermat has him 10th, was hoping this would hold up in seeding. Gonser will not be an easy out in 1st round and Lambert in 2nd round will be a bear. Beatable, but tough. Mueller, who Sean beat in semis of ACCs got the 10 seed and could see ACC champ Dance in qtrs. The committee wants to separate conference finalists so this might be why Sean got dropped to 12.

I believe Sean is 1-1 against Lambert

flo predicts Fausz as a darkhorse and has him finishing 7th. that would be incredible!

Sean with the first round pin !

SEan is proving he is the premier wrestler from KY nice job. Do it again tonight.

Not just that he won, but he looked very aggressive and physical in the match..  Frankly, his record is a bit deceiving with all of the matches he wrestled up at 133.  He is physically able to go with any of the top 125's, even Gillman.  Let's see if his wrestling skills and stamina are up to the match with Lambert.  Go, Sean!!!

He did pretty well at 133, 17-4. Two bad losses. At 125 his only losses are to Dance. I think he competes at either weight, but you are right 125 is a better fit. His road to the finals gets brutal from here: #5 Lambert, #4 Cruz, #1 Gilman in semis. (assuming seeds hold up)

Fausz in deep on a couple shots can't finish. FAUSZ with the 2. Rides lambert out.

2nd. Sean escape. Great wrestling 3-0 going into 3rd.

3rd. Lambert down, escape 3-1. Lambert attacking...fauusz is like houdinI....wins...Sean moves onto the quarters!

Making KY proud!

Sean with the 3-1 win over 5 seed Lambert of Nebraska on to the Quarter's!!!

The defense was impressive!

Loved the 1st period TD and rideout!

Congrats Sean on the excellent year. 29-10, second in the acc, 2-2 at the NCAA tournament. Thanks for being a fantastic ambassador of KY.

Thanks for the excitement Sean, So close to that AA, I bet you can smell it now!

He had a helluva year! Will he stay at 125 or move up to 133? He seemed to handle the drop to 125, but a lot can happen in a year.

I wondered about the extreme weight loss thing, He won State at 138 his senior year in HS. to age and drop another 13lbs. was questionable. and he did look to be weakened last year. 13lbs. does not sound like much to a upper weight but is a large % for a lightweight

He is on a nice roll to start the year. Undefeated, scoring bonus in all matches except one vs top 20 Taylor Lamont. I believe Intermat has him at #7

Cox has held down the 125 spot recently. Fausz beat him at Wolfpack open by MD. Since then it seems Cox has had the better of it in the room. Not sure what is going on. Weight issue, nagging injury, Cox has his number? Cox got smoked in first bout, but came back to record the pin next time out. Not wishing bad on anybody, but it would be nice to see Fausz re-claim the spot.

No weight issue, no injury, and Cox doesn't have his number.  It was the plan all along.  His engineering classes have kept him from training with the team.  Works with the RTC guys.  Second semester, after Dec 13th, his classes are in line with practice and he will be in the lineup, count on it.

Thank you, CCMS. Sounds like he has his priorities in line.

Any idea why he wasn't in the lineup tonight ?

Finished up finals too late to travel with team. Will be in Reno and then Naples, Italy.

Spent 6 mos. in Naples (Navy) . Best advice, take the 4o mi. Train ride to Rome or the ferry to Sicily. Beware of the campfire girls!

Oh yea, and a Bidet is NOT a urinal.

Wow!  Great TOC.   Look out Italy.

Latest IM rank has him at #8.  Was hoping he might move up a notch after Reno. I know, I know. Reno isn’t considered a upper tier event. His match w/ Fix was a great indicator of his mental and physical ability though.

He continues to be a stud. Looking forward to see him in person vs TOsu and NCAAs.

Big win for Mr. Fausz. Fun watching him wrestle in a high school gym again. This time on Flo

just took out Piccininni, 9-5!!!

Continues to be dominate. Solidly beats the #3 in the country.

125 is quickly becoming the most competitive, skilled, talented and fun weights. Tomasello, Surriano, now Iowa throws in Spencer Lee off red shirt.  After Shaun defeats Piccinni from OK State any chances of Fix dropping his red shirt?

I think with Fix dropping a match and getting hurt they are leaning more towards him sitting out this year and also speaking of Sean and Fix Sean wrestled him in a close 2-1 loss

I'd give edge to Fausz if they were to meet again. He was coming back from a couple weeks off and it still took a takedown in final 10 seconds to best him.

Being an Okie as well as an OSU alum (only ESPN says OK State) I was a bit conflicted during this dual but since we came away with the win i was able to appreciate Sean's match a bit more than I had initially.  Great win!!!!

Haha, I can respect that but come on you have to root for the KY boys!!

Moved up to #4 in latest Flo rankings.

One of my high school faves is having a quietly successful year, Dominic Abounader. Also great to see Marinelli unleashed. I like Stencel, but think he may be overrated at this point.

Outside of the top 8, heavyweight has a steep drop off. Stencil was hot at Midlands which led to his 20 intermat and 17 Flo ranking. Not bad for a Freshman imo. Each of the ranking services have 4 Freshman in the top 20.

Hard to disagree with your comment on HWT. That weight might go 12 deep. Watched Stencel v Parker in the Cent Mich - Oh U dual. Not too impressed with either. Stencel "looked" better but made a mistake that Parker capitalized on for back points.

Possible big test for Sean tonight ?

Sean didn't wrestle for whatever reason last night. No word yet.

Latest Flo rankings: #1 in ACC, #5 overall. That says a lot, this weight class is stacked and packed! Representing KY well.

He has the potential to be the best from KY ever. I should be seeing him in Raleigh this weekend vs the Buckeyes.

Dominant win on Friday vs Va Tech. He continues to represent Campbell Co and KY well. Big match vs tOSU (NaTo?) coming up. ACC Network carrying the dual.

TOSU says the full line up should be at NC state tomorrow with exception of a possible Kevin Snyder. I will be there to cheer on the Buckeyes and the king of Campbell County ...Sean Fausz

Tough sledding for Fausz today, going up against one of the best. He was a gamer though. Not being able to ride NaTo was a big turning point in the match. The 125 weight class is stacked. This was a good tune up for both guys.

Gym looked to be packed. Interested in reading wildcat's thoughts.

Just getting home now. It was an awesome atmosphere. The gym nearly exploded when  Moore got taking down at the whistle. A ton of Buckeyes made the trip also. The OH - IO chant was as loud as any wolf pack chant.

As for Fausz. He is much longer than Nato but  Nato had no problem getting to his legs. Fausz fought hard but was over matched.

The rest of the buckeyes looked decent. McKenna really seems to be peaking, but Micah and Moore have seemed very sluggish.

Was able to meet most of the Buckeyes plus Coach Ryan and Snyder were taking pictures with everyone. Class act all around.

I don’t think a loss to NATO means much. I don’t think Fausz is a finalist this year but he’s a solid AA. NATO is on the upswing.

Moore losing again?  I can’t figure that one out. McKenna and Martin made statements though.

ACCs on now. Not sure how high Fausz can climb in national rankings, but an impressive performance at conference tourney couldn’t hurt.

I missed Fausz’ side of qtr bracket. Who does he have? Bentley looked super tough on the other half and has #1 seed Hayes in semis.

in the finals of the acc  should be a good one  good luck Sean!!

Had a nice semis win vs Norstrem. He looks much bigger than he did vs Ohio St. Then again, NaTo can do that to a guy.

Excited for Sean. By FAR the best Ky wrestler currrently in College and among the best all time.

ACC Champ has a nice ring to it. Now go get you an AA to go along with it  Congrats!

The best to come out of Campbell Co. Interested to see his seed, and bracket.

better get a top 5 seed.

Got the 5

Another match vs ACC foe Hayes in round two. Possible qtrs match vs Suriano.

Was the weight cut an issue?  He looked good in overtime but not so much before then. Not uncommon to open up flat and then turn it on.

Tough second round let's wrestle back

Tough 2nd rd draw. I was concerned about that match before tourney began.

Honestly i thought he did good not to give up more back after the gator roll. Still has a chance to wrestle back though so hopefully that happens

bummer.

Tough out for Sean. He didn't seem to have the energy this weekend.

Correct me if i am wrong for those of you in attendance, but he was introduced as "kys finest" Sean Fauz.

Congrats on another fine season.

Will Fausz be at any off season events?

Don't know yet. Still can only do technique can't even drill. The ankle is taking a while to heal.
