Predictions on one of the best two tournaments in the state?  Teams?  Individual match-ups?

I predict Union to not bring a full team considering they have guys take the ACT every year at the same time as this tournament. They just dominated a good Castle (Indiana) team. Looking at the teams scheduled to attend, looks like it's going to be a meat grinder. Ranger should have  a ton of good results to base his next rankings off of. 

BIG MOE AT RYLE RUMBLE ,IT WILL BE ODD SEEING A STATE PLACER AND CHAMP FROM TWO DIFFERENT SCHOOLS COACH AGAINST THEM BOTH .WILL WALTON BE AT FULL STRENGTH ?WILL SCHOOLS HAVE KIDS TESTING DURING ONE OF THE STATES BIGGEST TOURNEYS AGAIN .I KN OW IT SOUNDS like an excuse but it's for real and it's a shame kids  who may be going to college to wrestle with people who are to da"!; dumb to schedule a test around such a big  tournament .BIG BIG WEEK IN WRESTLING ALL OVER GOTTA LOVE IT.

Union is only supposed to be missing Escalera and Carr. They are in Virginia.

Austin Murphy Vs Trent Johnson.  Looking forward to that match up.

It's going to be a tough tournament, looking forward to seeing how our Kentucky boys do against one of Elder's best teams in years

When do pool placements come out?

pools aren't up yet, but the seeds are posted. 120 and 145 will be fun to watch!

152 is another one to keep an eye on.  Brown, Smallwood, Ervin, Shelby, Roland, and #6 in Ohio D-1 Craig. 

120 will be interesting with most likely multiple future state champs in the mix.

Moeller is way down with this being the first time in years they do not get an Iron Man Invite they may have a couple individuals shake up some classes but I doubt they can Beat Elder or could Beat a full Union Squad .Murphy Johnson match should be good And I'm wondering how The WV team looks down a few of its studs watching them closely to see if they can upend the Camels in the region ,Seeing both their practices I was pleased and surprised that Coach Roth runs a tight orderly ship much like Coach Bankamper but without as many deckhands lol It will be a tall order for little WV to take the throne from the bigger Schools in NKY particularly the Camels .WVs heavy could be anywhere from not placing to a state champ depending on his use of time remaining in the year and they have powerhouse kids like the bigger schools .CC has the coach of coaches in NKY and studs as well Wells Yenter Carter Kechum and the Camels vs Smith Roth Moore and the crew at WV.its going to be a shootout .

Rivalry good for the sport I would hate to see anyone dethrone the Camels and there are kids I couldn't cheer against on both teams Bankamper is the king of coaches in NKY wrestling and i doubt anyone ever matches his career but WV has some headhunters in charge and some kids who are paying dues and covering every angle and a few coaches I wouldn't want to have to battle if they had the bodies in the room to work with.

Not sure what Ryle has in the mix I know they lost some studs and I know SK has some studs if not the man this year in KY .I'm barred from tournaments so I will have to comment on results or sneak in and get firsthand knowledge .

Not knowing which ky teams have the full lineups with firepower that can hang with anyone I'm thinking and hoping Union brings enough horses to trample any Buckeyes with intentions of crossing the river and "cherry picking "this tournament nothing against anyone just my personal pet peeve on the knocks on my home state and it's people in general although I have a few wrestlers I like on Moe and Elders team If CC isn't deep enough I want to see Union take it all despite them having maybe 1 person from there foolish enough to be anti Nature Boy lol of course I'm sure there's an Anti Nature Boy cult on every team .

herd of Bacons came in from  Pennsylvania.

Five take aways that I got from the results.

1- Yost is tough at any weight

2- This could be Zane Brown's year

3- There is more than one Andreoni to keep an eye on

4- This Bacon kid just made some noise

5- Varble is a real contender

So what you are saying is Rusty Parks has a good squad on his hands 

Lol. Your read in between the lines.  I gave props elsewhere too. But to answer your question, yes, I think Rusty has a pretty solid team.

Great tournament as always, great matches, and fun to watch.  No doubt this is an early assessment for many of these guys.  Some of the matches were intense to say the least. 

My takeaways- Bacon from Union- tough kid.  Pushed Wells as far as he wanted for sure.  Had a cradle locked up twice on Brady but couldn't turn either one for points.  He will be a contender by year end.  Zane looks great.  He's hard to score on.  He beat Smallwood again, and controlled the entire match against Craig from Elder who is tough as nails.  Yost looked good against Yenter, this weight at state (along with 120 will be insane).  Saul was Saul, but little Andreoni wrestled a tough tourney.  Big question here is does Saul drop to 126.  Andreoni/Buckman was a great match.  Buckman hung in there and battled.  Curious on how the game plan changes had they awarded Avery the 2 at the end of the first period. 

Match of the tournament for me was Murphy (Elder) vs. Johnson.  Unbelievable match, scrambles, attacks, defense.  I thought for sure Murphy wouldn't be able to hold him down.  It was crazy, one guy would hit a sweet duck, scramble no points, so then the other guy would hit a duck, scramble no points.  Then they did the same thing with high crotches.  Unreal match.

This weekend for me definitely let me know the season is under way!

First year in ages we did not have Moeller at Ironman. Looks like a down year for them. Congrats to Elder. 

ELDER IS LOADED.Moeller is down and I was surprised to see some of their long time wrestlers not up to par at all.

IN ALL HONESTY MURPHY NOT GETTING THE OW WAS AN INJUSTICE BEST MATCH OF THE NIGHT AGAINST WHAT LOOKED TO ME TO BE THE MOST TECHNICALLY SOUND WRESTLER IN THE ROOM I SURE IF THEY WRESTLER 10 TIMES IT WOULD PROBABLY BE 5 TO 5 MURPHYS LOOSER STYLE WORKED IN THE END BUT IF I WERE A COACH I WOULD WANT MY GUY WRESTLING LIKE JOHNSON HE WAS IN STANCE AND WRESTLED NEARLY PERFECT BUT MURPHY WHO LET HIM LOOSE WITHOUT MUCH FIGHT TURNED IT ON IN ULTIMATE OVERTIME FOR THE WIN THAT WAS AWESOME ONLY THING I SAW WAS MURPHY MADE A MISTAKE JOHNSON DID NOT CASH IN ON.

Some ky studs missing Smith Moore Cornett and some others for various reasons .The upper weights in this tournament will not fare as well at Swowca although Elders 220 has some skill and is a go getter Very impressive .

Elder is going to be tough to beat this year and next year

I would say 3-4 years and maybe longer.  Their MS squad is tough.  The team they have currently has 2 SR's, and 2 JR's I believe.  The rest Fresh/Soph.  There might be 3 SR's as I think one was an extra this past weekend, but will be dropping and make lineup as the starter next weekend at SWOWCA.  The Fresh/Soph class they have had some OAC studs on it.  A couple of them can not make line up right now due to well, the lineup they have.  I would say Elder is probably the best team in Cincy this year, I think they have the horsepower to beat Mason, just due to their upper weights being studs.  That will be one heck of a dual when it happens for sure.  Either way, this team will be tough to beat the next few years without a doubt.
