Not sure if anyone watched the Minnesota Iowa dual yesterday or not. For the most part, the dual was pretty lackluster, excluding the 125 bout. If you have an opportunity to check it out, I would highly recommend it. Lizak caught lightning in a bottle and took it to Gilman for 2 periods. Gilman somehow erased Lizak's 8 point lead, putting on a takedown clinic in the third, prior to sticking Lizak. Lizak's leg riding ability is extremely solid and he'll be a tough out for anyone he meets at the NCAAs. Even through victory, Gilman was certainly humbled.
Gilman vs Lizak

down 8-0 (9-0 with over 2 mins riding time) and Gilman stormed back and took the lead then pinned him. That's what national champs do. It was insane.
Great "never give up" vid for the kids to watch. Gilman down 8-0, fights back in 3rd but still down 10-8. Gets the pin. I liked Gilman's reaction after the pin. Could this be the recipe that others can use in game-planning for Gilman?
True, the dual was a bit pedestrian to watch. Gunther mild upset over Wanzek, and Kroells not getting the pin (7-0 win) really hurt the Gophers. At that point it was 19-8 Iowa. Should (coulda, woulda) been much tighter, 16-14 going into the final two matches where the teams were projected to split. Iowa brings it every match.
