lots of falls and techs but 120 had some close ones already. Roth over Miller 3-1 and Wallace from Wayne Co won 4-2 over Christian Co

pinned in 50 seconds. wow
Just now, DrBaker said:8th grader Slayton knocked off a 1 seed!!!
Slayton is unranked as an eight grader, but must be very good. Smallwood lists him as a "significant win" on Track. Dunborn was ranked 11th.

I fee like every yr a 40-50 win kid from Wayne loses first round. Not at a shot at their team Wayne is always tough. Just a trend that continues each year.
Slaton had his way with takedowns. Really took over from the feet. Impressive win. Can't believe Deck got pinned.
Castellano won in last 20 seconds. Came back from 5-2 deficit in 30 seconds to win 8-6

Desmond Lewis from Valley. He had been having health problems the past couple days, I didn't think he would wrestle. I'm really impressed he went out there and gave the performance he's given so far
Hope the young man is okay. Got their singlets confused and the score said 9-8 red winning. Dante must've been red.
Tucker def. Deck 2-1. Rode him the whole 3rd period. Refs aren't calling stalls at all.
I'll start by saying I don't know what the solution should look like, but we really need to start seeding this tournament. Maybe get coaches together and brainstorm the best way to go about it. Sheffer vs Johnson in the quarters? Crazy!! Castellano vs Ervin (combined record of 88-2) in the semis? We know those records aren't padded, either. Here are some potential blood round match ups: Insko vs Yost. Bacon vs Bates. Dodd vs Yenter. Tylan Tucker vs Payne Carr. Dallas Miles vs Smallwood. Some great wrestlers aren't going to place while some good kids will place due to unbelievable draws. I'm not saying there won't be some crazy upsets from time to time (that's what makes state intriguing and entertaining), but some of these brackets are ridiculous.
Fast forward til the 3 minute mark. https://www.periscope.tv/w/a3Ymizk2NTM5MzJ8MVlwS2tkUHFwQkVHaqJgf6Dy1fmO2i0zlrT1wn4mzVRHqfFyozvH_7u2RhmK

Absolutely. Some guys are getting a cake-walk to the semis (maybe even finals)...

Because most people have to work on Fridays. Lol. The important matches should be on Saturday.
Great match between trent and bryce, but i have to say a very questionable takedown call on the out of bownds line for bryce, either way wouldnt have changed the outcome, trent lost when he didnt finish the takedown for a 2pt lead in the 3rd

No not LOL...if i wasn't in North Carolina, I'd be there. Do basketball fans not show up because it's Friday?

Sorry to disagree, but all any wrestler can do is wrestle the match in front of them. Everyone in the tournament earned their way in, I didn't see any free passes. While you may feel it was a cake-walk, they still had to win matches. Let's not take anything away from the hard work these young men have put into their craft.
Very impressed by freshman Colin Stevens (152) making the Semis. Bum knee and dislocated finger not stopping him so far. Zane Brown awaits next tho.
I love both boys cook and lampe, was teamates with them both. Both have worked so hard. Now stx is rolling those braves better watch their backs. X gon give it to ya
Union has 3 in finals. St. X has 4. David Woods from Calloway with the win over Ray Karl Irving to reach the finals. Kid is on a mission!
Congrats to Haverstick on a great tournament. Win or lose in the finals, it has been fun watching him have the success he has had.
Does anyone know where to watch the finals online? I have looked (probably missing it) on the KHSAA website but can't find anything about it.

They're not streaming it online.

Thank you. Really ticks me off.
Can anybody record the finals and post it to YouTube or something perhaps? It'd be greatly appreciated!
Yes please. They stream the state cheerleading finals but not the wrestling finals. Unreal.
Looks like the wrestlebacks will determine the overall winner this year. UC looks in good shape.
Wow, just realized Jett (ranked 2) isn't in it/going to place. Or Insko. Williams at 170. Some really good kids not on the podium this year.
Some really tough draws/weights/outcomes.

What time ?
Pratt 3rd in region 2, comes out to win state. Hats off to that kid, he came to wrestle.
3 minutes ago, ukpridewrestler11 said:That's a shame Bryce didn't win MOW.
Who ended up getting it?
Just now, ukpridewrestler11 said:Cornett. Kid is a stud and very impressive but that should be in Bryce's hands.
Weight class wise Bryce's performance was more impressive. If you are talking just down right performance Cornett looked like a man possessed out there. Easily pinned his way through the entire tournament.
Flat out one of the best overall tournaments Kentucky has had. Congratulations to Union County on their team championship. The Irvin's are a class act and are showing what it takes to be on top! Joey Roberts is a beast from Woodford dominating performance. Casey Cornett looked as impressive as ATM did his senior year. He's ready for his next level at West Point. Ryan Moore looked like a man on a mission to his 1st State Championship. Bryce Sheffer looked like as equal the MOW and will be missed. And a special shout out to Noah Duke on being a true 7th grader, from Kentucky placing 5th in the middle weights. Congratulations to all the state placers this year! You put on a great show. THANK YOU!!

Woods was on a mission only his coaches and some region 1 coaches knew he could go in there and win the thing. Beating the 8th 4th 2nd and The number 1 kid in the State to pull off what he didnt consider an upset to win his schools first state title..

I had a couple people in the know tell me day one he was going to win it, Woods did not disappoint those expectations.
Whoever BigBlueTheory is, thank you so much for the periscope live finals...it was great to be able to watch from home!!! It was very much appreciated
Walton edges out Sk for fifth takes 2nd small school div Ruber takes Heavyweight realizing some of his potential. For reference for refs its not stalling if you stand your ground and do not chase your opponent its stalling when you move backwards off the whistle every time .

You're very much welcome. 2.5 hours of live stream, well worth it for the folks who couldn't make it. Sorry for all the shakes, will try to have an actual tripod for my phone next year.
UNION once again puts on a show very solid over these last few years other schools rising and falling but Union.there in.the mix every year .Cornett pinning through very impressive he should do quite well this offseason at all the national tournaments he has always wrestled in the toughest classes not sure about this years but he forged himself into an unstopable force when it counted most.
like last years tournament on of the states best missing Fargo All American and 3 time placer Brandon Reed .A shame.one of kys best could not be there .
21 hours ago, Eminent said:Blanton over Smith. Smith was great but Blanton got his respect back.
Don't think he ever lost it. Only loss in state in the last 3 years was to Ben Barton who is wrestling D1.

Not going to lie, that's all I could think about when watching the 220 final. Reed is a stud, shame he couldn't be out on the mats this season.

I agree, just a lot of people counting him out against Smith. He was even ranked below him.
