Wrestling in College

Topic ID: 1390 | 2 Posts

hello all, this is O.P. McCubbins, i wrestled at Nelson County last year, i am currently attending Murray State University and am really trying to get a club team or something going, anyone with any info please help. Also i just heard that you can go to college "open tournaments" and wrestle unattached, is this true and if so how do you find out about the tournaments.? I really want to further my westling career, and as of now i am an Assistant coach for Calloway County High School and Middle School!

Feel free to email me at  [email protected]            thanks for any and all help!

Yes, you can wrestle at open tournaments as unattached. You will have to pay your own entrance fee but if you can talk to your school's athletic director, you may be able to start a club team, purchase some mats if you get enough people to say they will join the team, and even get them to pay your team's entrance fee.

I would it would be best if you started talking to some people around campus about starting a wrestling club team and start asking other athletes and past wrestlers if they would be interested in joining.

Watch the schedules of University of the Cumberlands and Campbellsville University for open tournaments that they attend and try to go.
