Topic ID: 14373 | 17 Posts

I was just recently asked to Coach Team Kentucky for the Scholastic Duals on April 5-7 at Wabash College in Indiana.

Coaches if you have any state placers from this past season (who are not seniors), and are interested, please contact me ASAP!

It will cost $130/ wrestler (includes entry fee, hotels, and team KY gear)

We have to have a lineup turned in very soon so if you have any kids interested please let me know.

Spots are filling  up quickly. We are trying to put together 2 full teams and possibly 3  if we can. If we have any openings I would love to get as many kids on board as possible. They are guaranteed 7 matches (minimum), but if they are an alternate we will definitely get them matches as well. This is a great opportunity for our state and our wrestlers. Please contact me if you know anyone that is interested in representing our state.

I am in the process of trying to schedule a few Team Kentucky practices before the event.

We almost have 2 full lineups for Team Kentucky.

We are looking for;

1x 195 pounder

1x 220 pounder

if you have any kids interested please get back to me ASAP. We would love to have alternates as well.

We have had a few kids backout last second and aren’t able to go.

Pye, Stevens are out.

B. Beane, D. Calderon are now in.

An absolute awesome experience being a part of Team Kentucky! Had an amazing time working with these guys! Our athletes from Kentucky wrestled their butts off! The Blue Team battled all the way back to take 3rd place! Thanks for the opportunity.

Thanks to the coaches and kids who stepped up to represent KY!

Can’t say enough about this group of guys and the coaches! These young men went out and represented KY very admirably. It wouldn’t have mattered if we sent every State Champ from this year, we couldn’t have knocked off Illinois or Indiana. That’s just the cold hard facts. Those 2 states have their stuff together. We as a state have improved immensely on our feet, but our mat wrestling is still lagging WAY behind!! We told these guys to go back and ask their coaches for more mat wrestling training. Also, these other states are relentless from every position. We need to teach our kids to be just as relentless. This was an absolute awesomen experience. Team KY’s crowd was great! The kids were great! And the coaches were great as well! I had a blast coaching beside all of them. #HAILKY

Well done wrestlers and coaches. Thank you for representing Ky wrestling with Pride and Honor.

Awesome showing!

Seems that in the last decade the emphasis has been on our feet.  Mat wrestling has become a thing of the past in KY.
