In our Lexington City tournament we had significant growth this year from last.(we allow j.v. into tournament)

This made me wonder as a state how we are doing. I've looked at the 3 regions that have been released so far and compared them to last year. I must say its very positive so far.

In just 3 regions we are +49 wrestlers entered for this year. That's big growth and very promising.

Good stuff. Also, there are a few more I'd say in each region that have been out with the injury bug. A good trend to see. Curious to see how the girl's wrestling numbers increase next season. 

I think girls numbers will definitely jump again. 

Last yr only 50 were weight assessed,  this year we had 160 weight assessed,  with 111 entered in the girls state event from 34 teams.

Good to see growth in these regions, but crazy Region 7 has 86 more wrestlers than Region 4. Moore has 6 kids starting out in the semifinals, along with other teams with multiple kids in the semifinals. These kids are at least state tournament alternates just by making weight.

Maybe with some possible other teams starting up in the future I have heard about recently and this year Henderson started maybe a shift of of teams in different regions will increase the numbers of the small regions. As some regions get to many teams maybe some will be moved to the smaller ones to handle the starting in Semi rounds in years to come.

It looks like region 8 was a -4 this year.

Based off of track, Region 8 had 123 participants.  +5 from last year.
