Team Kentucky- Scholastic Duals

Topic ID: 14867 | 57 Posts

I have been asked to lead Team Kentucky again for the Scholastic Duals on April 4-6th at Wabash College. Last year we had an amazing tournament and came away with 3rd in the Nation!

We need our highest available state placers in 2019 to participate so we can walk out of there as National Champs in 2019! We will have information at the state tournament for our state placers who are interested.

There will be multiple Team Kentucky practices throughout the state leading up to Virginia Beach Nationals (end of March) and Scholastic Duals (early April).

Lets bring home some more hardware for the state of Kentucky!

Any questions please contact me at (859) 312-4414 or [email protected].

Head Wrestling Coach

Woodford County HS

Coaches, don’t let your wrestlers miss out on this opportunity! What a great way to pick up some new partners, friends, and family for life. We battle each other November thru February. After that, we should band together to show the rest of our country what we’ve got. Last year was so much fun. Placing 3rd as a team was amazing, but I know we can do better. Who’s ready to win a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP?

What a fun experience, like Nike Man said dont miss out on an awesome opportunity to compete and train with studs from across the state.  Last year we put together a great team as well as a coaching staff.  Lets bring home the gold this time.

Now that state is over we have a great list of state placers who I’ve already started contacting to participate for Team Kentucky at the Scholastic Duals at Wabash in Indiana on April 4-6th. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Coach Parks

**8 state finalist, 2 state champs, 27 state placers

I'd pay money to see blue vs white.

11/28 from region 1. Wish Micah and Matthias, and Stephen Little were on this. Is this a tournament where you wrestle pools then get placed in a division (Gold, Silver, etc) or do we pick what division to wrestle in beforehand?

First day wrestle pools and then placed in a division the next day.

What an event that would be

Interesting to see Cole Thomas wrestling for Team Indiana.

That's Disney Duals in June.

Will there be a wrestle off for 1st and 2nd team or will it go on the results at State? Some kids were sick and not at their best

Goes off state results. Teams look to be set to me.

It's a big thing to represent KY.  I wouldn't think it should matter which team you're on.  Whether Blue or White, it's a great opportunity, and a chance to face quality competition.

Would be a great fund raiser to have these 2 squads scrimmage.

I don’t know about great. We essentially do this with the all star meet to kick off the season and generally get 100 people to show.

Good point.  Maybe this next generation of wrestlers and parents will get behind the annual all-star event.

As a coach with Team KY last year, I can tell you guys that both teams will get all of the tough competition that they want. Last year Rusty really had to pull teams together rather quickly, and man, what a success we had. Those teams impressed! These 2 teams this year should really make some noise at Wabash. I expect to see another plaque come home home to KY!

To Ranger and Dutch, I am a huge fan of the All Star dual. It is an awesome way to kick off the season. Now that my son is done with high school, I’d love to kick around some ideas with you guys about trying to make the All Star event even better. Give me a shout, I’d love to help.

Where did you see Cole Thomas registered for Team Indiana? Cole was asked to wrestle for IndianaMat All Stars at Disney Duals. If it weren’t for us already purchasing airline tickets and plans with Dutch and his wife at their new house in Florida for spring break, we would have loved to wrestle with Team Kentucky. Some amazing kids on the team and always great competition. Sorry to be missing it to hang with DUTCH!!!!

Don’t be sorry. Let’s just call it a recruiting visit for Walton Verona next season. I’m flying in Mason to help with that process.

It was held at John Hardin HS in Elizabethrown for a number of years and moved to Moore HS in Louisville this past fall.

Our mailing address is Walton!! I only own Black, Gray and Orange!!! Plus I’m only coming to see Mrs. Dutch anyways and to fish off your brothers yacht!!

I’m going to use Cole as bait. Stacy says to bring that Speedo you have been know to wear.

I read it on IndianaMat forums. I was mistaken it was for Team Indiana for this tournament in Wabash, but that seems like its for a "Team Indiana" when wrestling at Disney Duals. Different tournament though.

All star division you are allowed 3 members of your team from attached states. That comes from the head coach. We are just honored they considered Cole.

*Gilbert (MDC) is in at 106, Eckman (UC) is out

Team Kentucky practice tonight at Woodford. 6pm. Everyone is welcome to come out and train.

Looks like the blue team is off to a great start.

Blue Team is 3-0 and the White Team is 1-2.

Both teams are battling and competing very well.

After a tough day 1 of wrestling, KY Blue goes 4-0 and KY White goes 2-2!

Team Kentucky takes 4th place at Scholastic Duals!!

Big thanks to Coach Parks for doing a tremendous job organizing Team Ky this year and to all the coaches who contributed time and energy to help prepare these kids for a great competition. This young group competed very very well giving the team champion IN Gold their toughest battle of the event. Unfortunately that dual on Saturday morning took a toll on us and we ended up 4th. But that is nothing to be disappointed about as these young men had a great weekend. I really enjoyed coaching and hanging out with the guys and wrestlers this weekend. Also had the pleasure to meet a few more parents of these good young men as well. So many positives to being a part of these teams.

Just want to give a big thanks to everyone who helped make this possible! The wrestlers, coaches, sponsors, KYWCA, and the families who helped out are amazing!

I’m very grateful to be apart of Kentucky Wrestling!
