The rules state that a takedown will be awarded when you have control of your opponent ON THE MAT or when he has weight supported on his hands.  This was not the case in the Voth/Cornett match.  Cornett had his leg around Voth and was on Voth's back, but did not have him to the mat and Voth's support was on his legs only.  Result = no takedown.  Bad call!!!

it shouldnt have been that close in the first place cornett got alot of good calls in his favor crap take downs if you could say out of bounds with no control and still got the points voth lateraled him out of bounds and should of got back didnt even get a takedwon voth is the better of the 2 and it will show come state

voth was awarded the points for the lateral out of bounds and was awarded 2 back points as well, cornett started the match down 6-1 and fought his way back my opinion is that voth wont start with such a lead next time

Dakota won't wreste Johnny like that next time. I'm not saying that he'll win, but you have to take in the fact that he stepped on the mat nerves as he could possibly be. Next time they wrestle he'll have a better idea of how to wrestle him and maybe close that gap in points.

johney wrestled a very dominated match, and at no point was the indiana kid in control during the match. I can't see anything different happening the next time.

I'm not making any excuses for Dakota. All i'm sayin' is that you got a guy that just came down here and has heard people talk about this guy like he's a god or somethin'. After all that, he spent the whole tourny listening to people discourage him and give him no credit for anything that he accomplished. Finally, he warms up and is as nervous as i've ever seen a wrestler and stepped on the mat as the underdog and gave it everthing he could. The next time I guarantee you that it won't be nearly as dominating a performance as it was at Woodford by Johnny. I give Johnny all the credit in the world but Dakota will be a different wrestler both mentally and technically when they step on the mat for Wolsiefer vs Choate 2 at JCTC [assuming that's the way the matches pan out. I'm sure it will be]. And after that they have state. So don't put Woodford down as the definative answer as to how well Dakota can fair against Johnny on the mat. It was only the first of hopefully many meetings.

I really don't see the match between Johnney and Dakota to be any different than what happened at WCI, except Johnney may pin him this time, or another major.

Dakota is by no means a bad wrestler but Johnney is just on another level than really anyone in the state.

I'm not sayin' that Johnny is over rated by any means. I'm just sayin' that Dakota really is underrated when it comes to him and Johnny.

my hat is off to the both of them i only know one of them personally and ive worked out with dakota before and i know how bad he wants it...and ive seen and heard and everything about john....so i dont think anyone has any room to put down someone else especially when you cant make it to where they are anyways......let the wrestling do the talking..

I think that 119 is turning out to be a really tough weight class. I'd say after the WCI, Shane Parks has to be one of the favorites to win it this year.

Check on the rankings tomorrow.  We are on the same page on this one.  ALTHOUGH, he still has to deal with Matt Zarth a few more times.  And like you said, this is shaping up to be one of the toughest weights.  All of the top 10 are very solid wrestlers.  And the next 4 or 5 guys are very capable of pulling a big upset.

yea shane is wrestling very well this year but with a stacked class like that, its hard to say hes gonna win it hes got plenty of guys that will be gunning for him now

I agree Ranger, he will have to face Zarth a few more times. Don't be fooled by Coach Headley's mild manners, he is big into teaching his guys how to beat specific people.

Dont overlook the Woodford coaches having these kids ready for State also! Good Luck to you Shane.
