Just to let you all know some of the results (as best my feeble mind can remember), Larue, Union, Trinity and Caldwell all represented Kentucky well in this tournament. Larue finished fourth with Union and Trinity right behind. Some individual results:
Bradbury won at 103 (he and Elam from U.C. were by far the best there at this weight class but had to meet in the semis due to seeding and Bradbury won that one in double o.t.)
112 - Smith (Tr.) got fourth and Carr from U.C. was runner-up
119 - Help? The other Carr may have placed here.
130 - Ervin runner-up
135 - don't remember if anyone was here or not
140 - Matt Miller runner up
145 - Don't remember any KY kids medaling here
152 - Hitchings runner up to Mater Dei. Pat Banks 3rd. Banks got the third seed and the Mater Dei kid (Dewitt) got the second seed so thay had to face off in the semis where Banks lost 1-0 (would have been the better finals match cause the 1 seed from Franklin community did not look good at all).
160 - Wheeler third had a heckuva match against the Mater Dei kid early and then came back to beat him in the consolation bracket.
171 - Caldwell County kid got runner up against the #1 ranked kid in Ind. from Evansville Memorial. I'm telling you now that the Caldwell kid is tough. Barnhill and the Trinity kid also medaled.
189 - Don't remember any KY kids in here
215 - Shipp got sixth but did upset the 1 seed in the second riound
285 - Embree took fourth
This has to be one of the tougher tournaments I have ever seen with tremendous balalnce in all of the weight classes. I really did not see hardly any weak kids at this tournament. Mater Dei has to be admired for thier talent and discipline, definitely the best "team" I've seen. If you ever go up there, be prepared for a lot of home cookin (and I don't mean food). The Indiana kids appear to be strong and they also appear to cut a llot of weight. Sorry for missing some of you other guys that placed, Pappy's memory is failing in his old age. Happy New Year!
