Has there ever been a person, that when you run into them in your bracket, it just kind of ruined your day? I'm not saying it had to be the toughest guy that you ever wrestled, but it was always that guy that could give a good "run for your money"
Not him again.

Whenever i see tyler voth i just give up
Come on now, you shouln't give up. Voth is agreat wrestler, but he can be beaten.
Yeah......wait tyler voth??? umm no..he's unbeatable
Unbeatable? Let's not live in fantasy land here. I said it once and I'll say it again, he's a great wrestler, but not unbeatable. Let's not forget that Coty Lewis should be at 125 fairly soon.
i was just kidding...but i dont think coty lewis will be a threat..i mean coty did get beat by dereck branch
Hey guys, first of all let's not make this personal. Second, I have to agree with DW. Although I am a huge Tyler Voth fan (I love that spladle) I can't say he is unbeatable. Heck, we couldn't even agree to give Jacob Murton that title last season. Right now I don't see Voth losing to anyone in KY, BUT that loss at state really caught me by surprise last year.
Never liked a Spladle, rookie's and kids who don't finish a shot fall prey to it.
Voth is a stud, but he's beatable. The only kid in the last 4 years that I have seen that's a monster is Sullivan. Don't even mention the Parks match. It's easy to keep it close when you stall it out.
Sullivan is still a beast, but why is he going to 103 again???????????
I would have to say Voth is problably the closest to unbeatable in state right now. Unfortunately, Lewis isn't the wrestler he use to be. Isn't that sad to even say? And will problably never be again....that takes work.
What happened?
PLD189, I wasn't trying to make it personal, I was just using Coty as an example. I think it will make for a good match. Coty obviously is batteling his own demons right now, but I believe he will be back on track shortly.
Where do I start? But that's probably getting too personal.....everything from grades, to personal life, to being lazy, etc. The typical talented athlete sad story...
That's unfortunate. He was real cool when I talked to him last year at state. I always thought he was a pretty nice kid.

I believe I saw someone by the name of Daniel Murner get nailed by that spladle last season.
I disagree 1000%. Murton was much farther ahead of the competition last year than Sullivan.
Never thought Muerner was a great tech wrestler and I grew up with him, seen him since the early days.
Murton was farther ahead, perhaps. However Murton ended up at Cumerb/Campell? (can't remember) and not to make light of that, but they're not the big dogs. Sullivan has the current credentials to start to get looked at by the big dogs. I don't think 103 again helps at all. I do not think anyone has posed a legitimate shot at Sullivan in 2 years. Murton had kids that did. I remember the Eastern kid (not his name) that took a heckuva match to him.
Coty is a good kid, but....
I think Ruschell was as close to unbeatable as I've seen his senior year.
This could be a good topic!
No doubt. Absolutely No doubt. Ruschell made it look easy.
Parks definatly didn't wrestle a 2-0 match with sullivan by stalling . If you watched that match you would know that shane was pushing the action most of the way. Sullivan hasn't been touched in 2 years because he stays in lower weight classes. If you remember coty and his match cotys 8th grade year you would understand.Thats not saying that hes not a great wrestler but thats just the truth. Also jacob could have wrestled in many division 1 schools , and maybe staying in state was a personal choice . No one is ever unbeatable if you've ever wrestled you know that.. I would say Voth is definatly a huge favorate to win no matter who enters his weight class. And Oc mvp You must be a sqooshy faced retart to make some of the statments you put on here!
That's real pretty Patriot, real f'n pretty.

Yes, Robert Smith gave him a match. But I can tell you that Sullivan's scorebook is full of 9-4 and closer matches (the score of Smith and Murton at state when Jacob was a junior). And don't go dogging on Cumberland and Campbellsville. I know he had other opportunities, but his personal preference was to stay in state. And that's nobody's decision and business but his. And I'm pretty sure those KY schools have kids with the talent to compete in D1. Brad Cooper is a good one to start.
Wow, we have gotten off topic something horrible!!!!!!! But since we are off topic, I want to say, Shane wrestled Sullivan a great match last year at State, and Murton or Cooper could have successfully wrestled where ever they wanted.
Ranger I'm not dogging Cam and Cumber, but c'mon they're not Iowa, Iowa State, Lehigh, Mich, etc etc. It's a pipe dream to say they are. Sure I agree Cooper is a great start, but you want to get national recognition, don't goto an NAIA school. It was his choice, and good for him, and I don't expect murton to take the burden of pushing KY wrestling to the fore front.

Thanks Patriot. I'm glad you saw that Parks/ Sullivan match and saw a highly technical fast paced drama.
I never said Sullivan is unbeatable, i said he is the closest right now. And yes, Voth is a favorite.
A sqooshy faced retard? Well done sir, I am humbled.
tyler voth is going to destroy coty in the 3rd period, his conditioning is terrible, and voth bumped up and beat derrick branch last year 11-2. and thos 2 points were ones voth gave him when he cut him loose
If we are talking about murton being unbeatable, I would have to say that Jairus was much closer than jacob. He wasn't as flashy as jacob no, but he always went for the win... and if I don't recall I don't remember any of his matches leaving the first period, including all of his state finals matches.
him and curt liska went to decisions every time
Unbeatable is a little unrealistic!
None of the people mentioned were unbeatable, Ruschell, J Murton both were stopped out of state, it took a trip to the Beast to do it but it just goes to show how unrealist is the term "Unbeatable". If the schedule is tough enough everyone is stopped over time. I agree they completely dominated KY HS wrestling during certain seasons.
Ruschell was not really challenged his Jr and Senior seasons that I can recall. I remember Warner wrestling him at the Dragon and the score was like 7-0 Ruschell. Thats as close a match as I can remember.
I watched the Smith vs Murton match and while Smith to his credit attacked and at least scored some offensive points which very few kids were able to accomplish against Jacob, I never felt Jacob was threatened or not in control of the match.
I didnt see the all of Jairus matches with Liska but I did see the finals at WCI their senior year when Jairus hit a superman on him to put him on his back and pin him, totally impressive. I thought Austin Cooper gave him better matches usually taking him a full three periods but I cant remember seeing Cooper ever score an offensive point against him. When he laced Purcell to his back for the pin in the 1st period in the state finals I was impressed. I still think Jairus is underated.

How was Murton not ever threatened when Smith put him on his back for 3 and nearly pinned him?
Just never felt that Smith was going to pin him and he didnt. I always felt that Murton would come back and dominate and he did.
anybody from larue or woodford!
in my weight class jake shipp and will starks!

Your telling me that if a wrestler is flat on his back for a full five count that you don't beleive he is threatened? or are u saying that just because he was jacob murton he was not threatened from bein on his back?

Any time you are on your back you are threatened. Did he get pinned from it? No, but after he fought off his back he continued to dominate the rest of the match, and basically the whole series continued like that between the two. I never really saw Murton losing to Smith in a full match.

Getting back points and having someone flat on their back are two different things, if he was flat on his back he would have been pinned. I think saying he was flat on his back is an exaggeration, I never considered him to be in danger of being pinned. I expected him to get out and he did and went on to win the match as I expected.
In the 149 lb weight class 3 wrestlers who compete in Ky are ranked on intermat. Dustin Centers#2 Chris Seta #3 and Jairus is 7th I believe . so Jairus is getting some recognition.
