Alright germs and ladies, the time has come. We have seen all the teams and the line-up is set:
Trinity
Conner
LaRue
McCreary
Johnson County
Gray Middle
Bluegrass (formerly John Hardin)
Twenhofel
Newport
Inez
Anderson County
Bourbon County
Date is January 13(?) at Ryle High School.
Lets get some opinions: who wins???
Did Campbell County back out or what? I know they beat Twenhofel and I'm pretty sure they beat Newport.

After LaRue's showing so far this season, i give them the edge. They have all but 2 returning state qualifiers and all but 1 medalist back; on top of all this, they debacled Trinity at the Oldham County Duals in January. As far as i know, their only loses are to Evansville Reitz, and Evansville Matre Dei. Anyone else have an opinion??
I don't think Campbell made the cut. You must be top 12 in the previous year's state tournament. if the any of the top 12 don't want the spot, they move down the line in order of OVERALL finish. Campbell wasn't that high up i thought, i might be wrong.

I have no idea what the selection criteria is for the MS duals. I guess I assumed it somewhat followed that of the HS duals and since Campbell had beated some of those teams I assumed they would be on the list. I guess that's what I get for assuming.

Larue is tough, but beat beating Trinity this year isn't saying much. Did Trinity win a dual at all at Oldham?
Did any of the 96's there give Hitchings any competition?

Not this year.
Union County could beat Larue
they only beat Union by 5 pts. at the Central Hardin Duals and got a forfeit at Mitch Ervins weight which theres no way they win that weight class

Personally i think that the 5 spot could be a toss up between Twenhoffel, Bourbon and McCreary. But if rumors hold true then McCreary will be sitting a few of their eight graders out this weekend due to behavior. Tough time to do that but I guess the coaches is trying to get a point across to them.. I will give to a guess at placement

Union County's Middle School Team is very competitive too!
Finished 3rd last weekend at Fern Creek Invite behind Mater Dei and McEachern GA, finishing ahead of Reitz. Looking very good!
McCreary finished fourth, and has some good kids, Hvywt was very impressive!
Has Larue and Union met up this season?
I didnt see Unions name in the Duals lineup but they will be at State.
LaRue and Union have met several times this year, but Union has never had full lineup. LaRue has beat them handily in tournaments and the one dual they wrestled in, BUT if Union had their full lineup, it would have been some interesting tournaments and duals.
Next Saturday, Union will surely have their full lineup at the regional tournament as will LaRue, and it should be a hotly contested regional tournament as well as state tournament. When Union is at full strength, the top two teams in the state are probably LaRue and Union.
LaRue beat Evansville Memorial in a dual at Union, lost to Evansville Reitz by 3 points but won more matches in that dual, and lost to Evansville Mater Dei by 9 points. In that dual there were five matches won by 2 points or less, but LaRue lost four of those matches. It was a very close and tough dual.
