Me 5th at 145 is understandable for now. I'm just not at the point where I can function and wrestle well at that weight. I stepped onto the mat feeling like I was gonna pass out for my first match. As for my second match against Jimmy Roberts [who I pinned in the second period when we first wrestled] I only lost a 2-0 decision after some a crappy locking hands call and also for a scissoringthe head call. Not being awarded my reversal didn't help either. And at the end of the first I broke my finger. I can't wrestle for 2 weeks now. But if these are predictions for the regional tourny, then I definatley think I should be at least top 3. I'll be much more use to the weight and won't be tired/weak.

are you kidding me hunter has beat buddy and aaron and you got him that far down i agree with everything but that  becasue thats crazy he is better than that come on

thanks for the team rankings

Yea. I'm glad to see your thoughts on the team standings.

Yes, Hunter has beaten Cosgrove and Whitson, but he's also lost to Graham and Phillips who I know Cosgrove has beaten.  Outside of Walls, If I'm not mistaken, it looks like Gatsby is going by the order in which the 135 weight class finished this weekend, which makes sense.  Since Hunter was unable to wrestle, that's why he's down there.  Anyway, in this weight class, there's really no difference from number one to number seven.  On the Friday of Regional, this will be the most wide open weight class.

I absolutly agree with Dragon Master on that one. 135 has a lot of decent wrestlers in it with many on or close to the same level in skill. May the best man win... (outside of Walls of course.)

Wide open is an understatement!!  Other than Walls and probably the bottom 2, everyone has beaten everbody at least once.  The 135 weight class at region seed meeting is going to be a nightmare!!! :x

Yea. 135 is just gonna be one of those weights where every match at regional is a nail biting, edge of your seat match.

thats  a fair statement

For Hunter the losses to Graham and Phillips were greatly effected by the shoulder injury - but there should be some resolution on that issue this week.  But all in all they are all so close you could almost just rank them as equal & and since he was out this weekend it is understandable that he dropped......it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Are you all serious! does ne one care about region three rankings, seriously, they arent any good at all.  there the backups of the backups. take this seriously, come on!

we have already had this discussion - so just do not read the rankings if you are not interested - no one from region 3 is posting degrading comments on the other rankings threads - obviously there are some people interested - it just does not happen to be you - so why don't you limit your posting to the threads that are of interest to you and spend less time making comments about the worthiness of others - that is not a very productive way to spend your time

btw the Most Valuable Wrestler of the JCT was a Region 3 wrestler but obviously he is just the back up to a back up.............

Well, after 3 days of good healthy eating I came into practice weighing 151. I pushed harder than I had been before and couldn't get tired. Not cutting weight and finally being able to eat has made me feel like a new wrestler. This is the first time i've been at 100% nurishment during a season. I feel like i'm 10x the wrestler I was before my injury. Now i've got 2 or 3 weeks before I can come back and slowly get down to 47. I can't wait to get back and avenge those losses weight cutting caused. BUT BEING INJURED STILL SUCKS!!!!!

I agree with wrest65, this has been addressed already.  Your comments are not productive and pointless.  Besides, I think there are a few Region 3 teams that would pound Ballard into the mat.  I know you lost to Meade already (and I won't mention the loss to KCD, oops, I guess I did).

Ballard4Life,

What really gets me are people like you who put other Regions down and talk about how good your Region is.  Yes, your region is good (FC, Eastern, All three Oldham Schools) but your team, Ballard, does nothing to add to that.  You're the doormat of that Region.  I wish the KHSAA would re-align a team like yours into Region 3.  It would be more wins for the kids of Region 3.  Another thing, people keep talking about how other Regions are way better than Region 3.  Take Region 1 for example.  That Region is carried by Union County.  If you take Union County out of the mix, then Region 1 earned less points at state last year than Region 3!  If Region 3 had Union County, then they would have had the 4th most points per Region at State last year.  And to piggy back on what Ranger said, Doss wiped the mat with you guys in a scrimmage this year and when their coach tried to schedule you guys for a tri meet, your coach declined.  If were just a Region 3 school, seems like he would have jumped at the chance to wrestle us again.

Hey hey, KCD only graduates around 60 kids per year so our win over Ballard was big for us... but our program is improving and we're working hard, so don't use us as your stock "crap school"  :-D

For real.  KCD does well with what it has.

For real.  KCD does well with what it has.

that is quite a chance of stance from the position you took just a couple of days ago- let me remind you...........So what, if they want it, they'll fundraise, they'll organize, they'll work for it.  God didn't drop out of the sky and give the big schools money, they earned it.

I do not think the previous writer meant to imply that KCD is crap - but more to the point they are not in the list of "good" schools that Ballard4Life and OCMVP listed.  So you are going to take up for KCD and bash Region 3??  Why do you even read this thread?

Why?

To annoy region 3 kids.

No change of stance, at all.  KCD (if you have ever been there) has a very nice school, and they have obviously not taken money dropped from the sky.  They've come along way.

They're still not good, but they're not 'crap' either.

I will continue to talk (you call it bash, I call it telling the truth) about Region 3.

so your soul purpose is to tourment us region three kids...well the joke is on you...i thought wrestling was supossed to be fun....a friendly atmosphere but still competitive...well you arent very friendly and certainly not a friend of mine....so im sure i speak for us all when i say leave us alone!

yea wut granby said... but how is he online when were both at school??? :?

Two things.  First, I have spent more time at KCD than most anyone on this site (except 125kid) and I know their situation.  There are some good kids there that work hard; I would never call them crap.  But they are well below a few of the teams in region 3.  Second, it is fine to continue to talk, but if your sole purpose is to harass people your posts will be removed and/or you will be banned.

My bad Ranger, I didn't know you were an authority on KCD.  From your previous comment it did sound like you were judging them to be a 'crap school'.  I didn't know you had spent so much time among them.  I apologize for my ignorance.

You're right though, my sole purpose will not be to harass people.  I will continue to post constructive comments.  Region 3 represented well at JCTC.  They had some good wins, and Mike Seeders seems to be a stud.

They still have a long way to go.

I think that what Ranger was trying to point out earlier was that Ballard shouldn't be talking trash when they've been beaten by a team from the smallest school in the state that has a team while they are one of the biggest public schools in the state.  I know that KCD's program isn't the best and we certainly have been beaten by many teams, but I appreciate what Ranger said about how there are many of us who work just as hard as anyone else in the state.

obviously it is worth repeating that the size of your school does not indicate how hard a wrestler works or how much he wants to win.  That has been my point all along - just because Southern or Doss does not have the history of success as Woodford County is no reflection on the work ethic or dedication of the wrestlers right now.  The same applies to KCD or KY School for the Blind or whoever.  But it is impossible to ignore some of the economic advantages schools like Trinity and other big programs have over the little schools and it involves allot more factors than a few fund raisers.  So the bottomline I do not think it is right for anyone to "trash" another region just for the sake of trashing of them....There are wrestlers from every school, from every region that are working hard and giving it their all and I think that is to admired.

Board likes this are a place for lots of different people to talk about a sport they all are involved - so with the excpetion of some fun "trash" talk I do not see it as a place to put people down-who wants to read stuff like that? there is too much other stuff to talk about

My Goodness... OCMVP changed his tone of voice/typing the second he saw somebody even metion getting banned...

And good job metioning KSB... their 171 was a very good wrestler and placed 5th at the JCT

Hey Hacker

Learn to read sarcasm.

Hey Hacker

Learn to read sarcasm.

It looked to me like you were actually being serious and i think that its a shame that it takes somebody metioning someone being banned just to get everyone to stop trashing/bad mouthing one particular region full of hard working kids...

and btw i think that you SHOULD be banned just for knowingly posting that you were justing trashing region 3 "To annoy region 3 kids"

Well Hacker, opinions are like......................................................

:)

But, back to the topic at hand.  I do stand by what I said, they picked it up at JCTC.

wut does that mean??? opinions are like smiley faces? and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. they just shouldnt express it in a way that offends/downgrades other wrestlers and people all together. and yes region 3 did pick it up at JCTC and performed fantastically if you ask me.

Opinions are like..... an old saying, finish it for yourself.  Google it, ask your mom, ask your friends.  They should be able to clue it in for you.

I'm glad you think they did fantasically, you should have something to feel proud of!  Good job guys (round of applause)

so anyway southern vs fairdale tomorrow it should be a great team match i got seeders so its going to be fun( good luck to me) lol

lol yea the match with meade co. and ballard was a good one. ballards a pretty decent team and all but what do i know im just a first year wrestler. lol but hey nice talkin to you guys peace out

meade co.s 171

-cody

Yea. I was looking forward to our meet with Fairdale but I'm out with a broken finger.

we will be a lil short handed too so

he has a point. By arguing ur region 3 rankings you are limiting yourself. Would you rather be first in region three, which sometimes has great wrestlers coming from it but its a rarity, or first in state at the end of February. I mean really.

There are two steps in the post-season.  If you don't show up for region (or make weight like I didn't do once) then you won't have an opportunity to do anything at state.  So the reason to care about regional rankings is to see who has the best chance of qualifying for the state tournament.  Also, it doesn't mean much to be ranked 5th in the state if the top 4 are in your region because you won't be at state to get that 5th place finish (except for one of those fluke alternate fill-in situations).

c'mon are you kidding me!?

we already buried that shovel and here you go bringing it up again! give it a break...

I more than likely won't be at 45. After seeing how tried and drained I was last weekend my parents won't let me do it. I'm gonna try to get there and be healthy though. I'm at 153 right now and feel like a monster. I have so much energy. Never felt this good in my 2 years of wrestling.

wow... that sux for you but theres not really anyone any good at 152 in our region honestly

it is a fine line - you want to get down as far as you can - but at the same time if you lose all of your strength and energy it is not productive.

Yeah I know. I lost to 2 of the 52's in our region earlier this year but that was pretty much just a result of alot of weight cutting. Now that i'm coming back up to 52 from 45 I can eat like a maniac and still be like 2 or 3 pounds under. I'm also alot stronger now and my moves and footwork are a lot sharper and precise. Once I get through 52 in our region it's onto state where I can see how much i've really recovered from the weight lose. And Hacker, are you gonna be wrestling at the beginning of next season? If so, what weight do you think you'll be at?

isn't anyone good at 52.  jeremiah walls and kevin snyder are pretty good.  maybe i am just behind the times though.  good luck everyone, especially those 152's.

yea im definitely gonna be wrestling at the beginning of next season and i want to try to be 112 but ill probably end up being 119

Yea. There are some pretty good 52's in our region. Snyder and Walls will make for some pretty stiff competition come region time.

where are you from hacker???

where are you from hacker???

well i mean wejust dont have a 152 on our team and i dont pay attention to weights we dont have unless they are stand out people like woelsifer or rupp or someone like that but i mean im sure that there are good 52's i just dont kno em.

Jason Gall is now wrestling 125 for Doss.  Alan Marksbury is no longer with the team and will not be for the rest of the year.

Jason Gall is now wrestling 125 for Doss.  Alan Marksbury is no longer with the team and will not be for the rest of the year.

So you all let Jason back on the team. and Alan told me he is going to train by himself for the remainder of this year and come back next year.

Waiting to see tomorrow's region rankings. Williams Northington pinned Deshon Batts from Doss for fifth place. Didn't see that coming. Knew it would be good, just didn't turn out how I thought it would. GOOD JOB WILLY!!!

Yes, Jason Gall is wrestling for Doss.  He was trying to make 112 but it was too difficult for him so he will be 125.  As for Alan, I don't know what his plans are and don't care.  He will not be back with Doss this year for sure and probably not next year either.

ok i dont kno who dragon  master is nd i really dont care....but i couldnt stay on a team that has a coach that lays on the floor and talks bout everything except wrestling...then our head coach has never wrestled b4 in his life nd trys 2 tell me wat 2 do...i mean come on now i been doin it for 7 years i aint gonna let some guy that barly even knos wrstling tell me wat 2 do i been arond it all my life....and then all we do is 45 mins takedowns 45 mins escapes and reversals...and the last 15 mins or so a little conditioning...we dont even lift weights....and u gotta lift weights 2 be good i got pleny of technique i came in really strong from workin out all summer then wrestling starts and i get weaker and weaker as the seson moves on....i dont kno who dragon master is but i promise u i will be on the team next year and thers nothin u can do bout it...

...faced...

wrestlingisus08... First of all, if it wasn't for your coach who has never wrestled you wouldn't have a team this year at all.  There are a lot of wrestling coaches with little to no experience that are trying to keep a team alive.  Second, if your not doing what your coaches are telling you and your still losing whose fault is that?  Generation X has become Generation Xcuse.  Wrestling is so complex that you don't know everything after 7 years.  7 years means nothing if you don't apply yourself.  You still have to bust your butt to improve yourself.  If you feel like you are getting weaker during the season, lift on your own time.  Or does the coach have to tell you to do that.  If you have plenty of technique you should be winning matches.  Technique beats strength Monday through Sunday.

Well stated Coach. One of my football coaches'  favorite saying was: An excuse is a poor patch on the garment of failure.

He would then follow up the saying by asking, "What are you going to wear son?"

well put raider.i know all the doss coaches. they are dedicated. they both put in alot of their free time.also they both have newborns and one on the way.yet they still find time to show up for the kids...always...not to trash alan, i think he is a good kid.a bit misguided.but a good kid.but for someone who "knows all about wrestling", where were you on the day they said you should be at practice every day?come on. just because you lost to a couple of tough kids doesnt give you the right to throw a fit and trash your coaches in the middle of a gym full of people.what you did and how you did it is a reflection on you and you alone.the other wrestlers at doss think very highly of their coaches.as for their knowledge...i guess we will see come regionals. i think it will be the best year team wise in a long time

Region 3 isn't as strong as region 2 but there is alot of good wrestlers in 3 that can still win.  I know that Meade's 112 has beaten Ballard, Larue, North Harden, Anderson and alot more.  If region 3 is so bad they should open it up for Ballard.  They have gotten beaten by Meade County (1st Year team) twice. Ballard got a good team, I just think they overlooked Meade.
