Old Teams Wrestling Each Other

Topic ID: 1577 | 14 Posts

Who do you think would win the State Tournament over all if all the teams were wrestling in the tournament.

What about the 98 PRP team.  Just kiddin I was the only wrestler on the team that year.  Literally.,

I guess I would go with last years Woodford team.  They are consistent.

We would have to lay out the lineups, because Woodford dominated last year by individuals winning the tournament.  All of those guys might not win with some of those others in the meet.  But I will say that I think South Oldham of 2003 was the definition of total team consistency.

Woodford had 7 placers with 1 champion and 3 finalists. Cambell had 9 placers with 2 champions and 4 finalists. South Oldam had 13 placers with 2 champions and 4 finalists. And St.Xavier had 8 placers with 2 champions and 3 finalists. St.x wrestled back in the day of the 16 man bracket so there is no way of telling how many of them wouldve been in the 7th and 8th place matches. I personally think South Oldam was the best team i have ever seen and i think 13 placers is pretty amazing so i think they would win it.

no arguments there. South was just flat out DOMINATING! Although Campbell might have given them a run for their money.

What if we threw in the 1984 Fern Creek team?  they were undefeated all year team wise

You guys are going back so far in time where Kentucky wasn't even developed wrestling wise.  Sure they went undefeated but look how far Kentucky has coming in a wrestling state.  If it is going to be solid match ups they need to be with in reasonable years.

What kind of statement is that???

That is like saying you can't compare Babe Ruth to Barry Bonds or Oscar Robertson to Mickeal Jordan.

No I'm saying that Kentucky wasn't a very good wrestling state back in the 60's 70's and 80's just like saying that pitchers back in the day could not throw the ball as fast as they can now so Babe Ruth would not have hit as many home runs.  You have to look at the big picture and how far Kentucky has come in wrestling just like in any other sport, but when you look at Kentucky and wrestling we have grown tremendously.
