JT King 145, is still getting no love? His only loss is to Stargill. He has beaten Quintana.

He probably gets no love because his one loss was to Stargill by major (12-0) and Stargill was pinned by Kellet of Christian County. He has an impressive 26-1 record with 14 forfeits.

It’s been fixed, thanks! He wasn’t even on the list earlier, which is why I even said anything to begin with.

Well, my boy Carson Chambliss is undefeated and deserves a number 1 spot in ALL WEIGHTS!!!

Caldwell County shut out Hoptown 61-0: Logan Brown [9-3]

According to former Coach Dennis Walls, that did not happen.

I feel so bad for some of these kids that won't get a chance to compete at state. Some highly ranked kids won't make the cut. Some kids seeded or 5th or 6th in this region could get in the other ones.

The KHSAA should really take a look at taking the top 4 from each substate.

Last I heard capacity % had opened up to allow more people in attendance. I know this won't happen but it absolutely should and wouldn't require much work at all. I think we as the wrestling community would agree that given the situation taking the top 4 is the right and best option. I'd say most teams, coaches, and parents would support this.

In this substate alone at 138 you will have the top 3 kids banging for only 2 spots.

If the above rankings hold true R2 would take 25% of spots into the state finals. With 4 entrants from the substate that number increases to 38%. Not bad considering the hammers coming from R1.

Why can't this get traction?

Their deal is that they say the  top 4 ARE making state. What we are calling semistate is what they are calling state first round. They just don't see it like we do.

I 100% agree they don't see it like we do.

I've coached in this state for 12 years. Every year it has been a 32 person bracket.

If semistate is what they are calling the first round.... then there should be 16 kids advancing to the second round in the championship side.

Reseed the tournament after semistate and run a 16 man double elimination tournament. Eliminate the 5 match rule for 1 day.

We all know this is a challenging season, however there is an opportunity to compromise here and have a championship that most of the coaches, parents, and athletes would stand behind.

Taking 16 to the "finals" eliminates the first round championship and first round wrestlebacks.

Do right by the sport of wrestling and that amount of goodwill will carry the KHSAA miles down the road in future championships, because the way it stands right now, most of us are swallowing a very very bitter pill handed down to us by the Association.

They also can’t seem to count.

State is double elimination, but won’t wrestle for true second (which addresses the double elimination aspect). Some kids will end their season on a winning streak with only 1 loss by placing 3rd at semi state, while others will go 0-4 and end with a state medal. The value placed on this post season has plummeted, unfortunately. Some state finals matches will work themselves out and will be exciting (as a fan, I want to see Moore vs Eckman). Other contenders will get eliminated before the 3rd week of post season.

If they both get there they should be seeded 1 & 2 so in this format they won’t meet in the quarters.

This is being considered a pilot season as well.   With hopes to make the semi state setup a permanent change if things work well.

When we have kids ranked in the top 4 with 32-3 records sitting at home while 15-15 kid gets pinned 3 straight times just to raise an 8th place trophy at state, then maybe they will see this didn’t work.

If the KHSAA is looking to add semi state as a permanent change they MUST move to take the top 4 from each semi state. NOONE is on board with taking the top 2 other than the KHSAA.

If they truly cared about the kids and the sport this change happens

If this is adopted this will be a step backwards.

In the 70's they took top 2 in region to qualify for state. State tourney was a true follow your man tourney.  You only wrestled for 3rd if you lost to one of the finalists.

It was then changed in the 80s to District/region/State top 4 in region went to state.  State tourney was 1st round follow your man.  You were pulled back into the consolation round only if the person that beat you in the 1st round won his second round.  Placed top 6 but only gave medals to top 4.

Tried the District/Region/Semi-state/State for two years in late 80's.  8 man state tourney.

The average winning percentage amongst the 108 pounders in the Region 1/2 semi state bracket is 89%. Crazy state among the 8 wrestlers that are currently seeded 1-4 in each region.  If they want to do a semi state, I would like to see Regions 1-4 and 5-8 wrestle.  Take the top 8 from each semi-state.  16 man bracket run just like Indiana (lose first round, you're out).  Get the right kids to the state tournament and create a 1 day event as no one would wrestle more than 5 matches.  This would be ideal and pretty exciting from the first round on.

I already suggested this as well as Caleb Canter. The KHSAA just does not want to listen to our input.

I have been told repeatedly from Khsaa that this is a 1 year deal. Thats not just in wrestling,  but all sports. They are hopeful everything will return to normal next year

If the five match rule is changed to six then it could just be ran as a normal double elimination tournament

That would make too much sense

Seeds are set brackets are made. We will see what Track says.
