How many teams out there seem to have wrestlers on the team one week and off the next and then back in a few weeks? Isn't there a cut off time for people to "join" the team before regions & state? Just curious. :?

we were told that as long as they have wrestled for 4 matches at least then they are fine to come on whenever they want to. which is gay but yea thats what we were told :-D
we have people like that every single year. and its usually the same ones every year. i think that there should be a cut off date and once you decide your off the team your OFF. plus its not fair for the kids who show up to every practice and work their hind parts off to become a better wrestler and these kids dont even show up half the time and just decide they want to show up and be on the team again a month before regionals.
I also think that ALL wrestlers should be required to do something in the off season like camps or freestyle's or something of that matter unless your playing another sport.

This is all up to the teams head coach. He can decide when the cut off point is. I know many coaches that won't take on new kids come December, or after the Christmas break.
If a coach does take a kid on late in the season, it is between him and the wrestler. There may be extenuating circumstances that you don't know about. The kid that comes out late is at a disadvantage because he has missed practice.
Coaches cannot require kids to do anything outside of the wrestling season. Remember these are still high school kids. A coach should highly encourage a kid to do something but he cannot require.
