Has a Tilghman or Anderson wrestler ever made finals or won it?
What’s the highest for Martin County?
Pike County Central’s first placer?
Record for most unbeaten guys? 18

Most middle school placers? 8

1st kid to skip a grade?

Anything else you all see?

I’m almost positive Tilighman has had a finalist.

martin co has had a championship when they were Sheldon clark

Anderson County: 2008 Sammy Isaacs 2nd Place - 152lbs

Has a kid ever pinned every opponent he’s faced in a season?

Martin County (Sheldon Clark) has had many many state champs: josh Muncy, Dan Muncy, Billy Clark, Xavier manning, josh Preece, josh Stepp, Derek mollett, John dials, Jeremy Rhodes, Bruce stepp, chris Goss, and a few more Stepp bothers.

Pike central has had a few placers in the past. I believe that Justin Maynard was their first placer in the early 2000s.

Tilghman had a finalist named Bryan Hall back when I was in school at heavyweight. He went on to play college football at Arkansas St. and eventually with the Baltimore Ravens. Kid was a physical specimen.

Chance Orr of Paducah Tilghman was 2nd in 2016 at 220.

I wasn’t sure how well he did, but I do remember he was ranked 1 the next year and didn’t wrestle.

PIke County Central has had 3 placers.  2004 Anthony Chapman 215 (6th) 2005 Justin Maynard 125 (7th) and 2014 Alexander Peters Hwt (7th)

Paducah Tilghman has had 5 finalists.  1972 Dale Young Hwt, (2nd), 1999 Ryan Luna 135 (2nd), 2004 David Bardin 130 (2nd), 1006 Bryan Hall Hwt (2nd), 2016 Chance Orr 220 (2nd)

Anderson County's only finalist was 2008 Sammy Isaac 152 (2nd) had 3 other top 4 placements. 2005 Daneil Preston Hwt (4th), 2007 Sammy Isaac 140 (4th) 2020 Cole Nance (4th)

Martin County (Sheldon Clark) has 98 placers, 66 top four placers, 40 finalists and 18 Champions. with 2 MVW's 1994 Bruce Stepp and 1999 Josh Stepp.

How about it has been 19 consecutive years that an Ervin family member has qualified for the state tourney.  The last year without a qualifier was 2002.

The 1st time in 14 consecutive years that an Ervin family member will not be in the finals.

Sayre has its 1st state qualifier.   Making 146 KY teams to ever have a state qualifier.

I knew goo would come to the rescue with some great state tournament stats.

That Ervin run has been amazing.

Is there a list for most individual state champs per team?

I know a few that have those numbers. Goo, Carson, and Greg Woodring are probably all counting them right now.

Goo has one in the records section from 2014 that can be updated.

Give goo a couple minutes to see this post and I’m sure he will share.

What do you mean by 'record' for most unbeaten guys? Teams total who have finished undefeated?

3 minutes ago, The Whizzer(d) said:

I think he means most undefeated guys entering the state tournament. In a normal year a lot of these top wrestlers compete out of state and against each other but due to covid most major tournaments were cancelled.

Could there be a first time 7th grade champion? Mark Hall was a runner up as 7th grader.

If he can get it done this year he could be a six timer.....one at a time!

What were those numbers 15 years ago? I wonder how quickly Union climbed up that list.

Yeah I wish I would have kept the results from each previous year but I just update the original list and move teams accordingly. Been doing this since 90's

Big jump from 2 to 3.

This is what GOO posted to 2008.

The top 20 in state champions are as follows from 1964-2008.

1.  Wood Co.----------55

2.  Hopkinsville-------33

3.  Fern Creek--------32

3.  North Hardin------32

5.  Union Co.---------28

6.  Christian Co.-----21

7.  Conner------------19

7.  Simon Kenton---19

9.  St. X----------------18

9.  Trinity--------------18

11. Henry Clay-------17

11. Sheldon Clark---17

13. Eastern-----------17

13. Fort Campbell---16

15. Campbell Co.----16

16 Ky Sc. of the Blind-12

16. Waggener----------12

18. Boone Co.----------11

18. Newport Cath.-----11

20.  Seneca-------------10

Ok you challenged me.  From the turn of the century. Union has had 42 state champs.  Woodford 30.

If my Xavier U. math is correct. That gives Woodford 34, Union 23 at the end of 1999.

I thought semi-state is technically the first round(s) of the state tournament which would keep the first one alive as Paxton Ervin made it to SS1.

yes, this is the 19th year in a row

That is a really good question. LOL.  I will have to look at my research and see exactly what that is. I find mistakes every time I look at my compilation of data. (probably a typo of some kind.)

Can't seem to find sheldon clark. Martin County will have to start a new list if branson smith wins it. Faridale aka Fairdale

sheldon clark is Martin Co. #13 with 18.  I will combine Sheldon and Martin b/c it was just a name change.

Trinity (whitesville) ?

They do not have a state champion.

Oh it says “Marian County” made me over look it.

Ok I did my corrections.

Trinity with 1 (have no idea what that was)

Fixed my typo of Marian to Martin

Christian Co has 23 not 22

Danville has 10 not 9

John Hardin has 4 not 2

Westport has 3 not 2.

GOO: question for you: What schools did all of the "no longer exist" schools on your list become? Who is Owensboro's one champion?

Ahrens trade closed in 1980

Flaget closed in 1974

St. Joseph closed in 1969

Westport became Westport Middle in 1982

West Hardin Combined with East Hardin to become Central Hardin in 1991

Other schools with Qualifiers that no longer exist are

Millerburg Military Institute closed in 2006

Jessamine County split into East and West Jessamine in 1997

Bush High School became Bush Elementary

Durrett closed after 1981 school year.

Stuart High school became Stuart Middle school in 1982

Aquinas Prep became part of Louisville Country Day in 1967

Thomas Jefferson became Thomas Jefferson Middle School in 1982

Greenville High School became Muhlenberg Sough High School in 1990

Owensboro's state champion was Lance Moorman in 1977 at 105lbs

And yes I am a geek for having done all this research.

Union stretches the lead of state champs to 68, stretches the win streak to 6 in a row, and crowns the youngest champ.

Yes, unless you count a couple small school titles.
