Best 103?

Topic ID: 1737 | 69 Posts

Who do you think is the best 103?

Tommy Warren is a tough wrestlre but at 103 i see vaughn winning it

yeah tommy warrens really good. bobby vaughn is more technical. its a tossup. taylor south is a good wrestler if you give him what hes looking for. he likes doing more difficult moves and sometimes hel get caught up and give up some points

elliott martin by far. Vaughn lost soundly to Jeff Warra at 112. If he can't beat Warra hes not going to touch elliott. Martin is the reason warra is where he is in his wrestling.

I'm not sayin' that I think Warren is the best in state because i'm sure most of us know that Elliot is the top dog at 103. But he is a scrappy little guy. He'll definately do very well in state and he has nothin' but time to improve being that he is only a freshman.

how do you all not put Jarvis Elam-Union Co. in this he WILL be their in the end!!!!

Myron Bradbury!

i dont see elam beating martin, bradbury, or vaughn

Elliot Martin is in my opinion because he is the quickest wrestler that i ever saw, in fact when he wrestled our 103 his coach actually had to tell him to slow down some

bradbury only beat elam by one or two points and in overtime come state will see if he get's that lucky

Vaughn lost to bradbury 3-2 on a locking hands call.. IMO if he wouldnt have locked hands he would have won.. he took down bradbury pretty easily... also he missed about 3 weeks due to a injury earlier in the year so he was also kinda out of shape.

my god his name is robby not bobby and how come you didnt have miron on the pole he is better than tommy warren and so is robby

you should change taylor south with myron.. cause i believe vaughn has pinned south twice this year in the first period

they area all real good in their certain aspects. Vaughn is a tall and technichal wrestler for this weight class using his speed and ability to his advantage. Tommy warren is a good scrappy wrestler who continues to do well in the weight placing continuiously in tournaments. Brandon Whitehouse is a good up and coming wrestler. He can hang in with the better wrestlers and do well without giving up. Taylor South is having a change coming from virginia to kentucky wrestling style. He has great potential and can sneak up and suprise the top dogs given the right conditions. But hands down the best will go to elliot martin. He continues to be dominant and take control of the match.

i think taylor south is gonna end up placing decent at state

South is good.. he does have alot of potential i will give him that he has to work hard if he wants to place

Sounds like a lot of people think Bradbury gets lucky a lot!  He won in overtime against Elam, he won on a questionable locked hands call against Vaughn.  No, I don't think he gets lucky, I think he's a pretty good wrestler and does what needs to be done to win.  As for the best 103 in the state, it's Elliott Martin hands down!

I AGREE BRADBURRY IS INCREDIBLE AND I THINK HE WILL BE A NATURAL 103 NEXT YEAR AS WELL. I THOUGHT HE WAS THE BEST MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLER FOR ANY WEIGHT CLASS LAST YEAR AND I BELIEVE HE WILL BE AT LEAST A TWO TIMER IF NOT THREE AT THE VARSITY LEVEL. NOW FOR ROBBY VAUGHN I BELIEVE THAT WHAT THIS KID HAS LEARNED IN JUST THREE YEARS IS UNREAL. HE IS A GREAT TECHNICIAN AND IS JUST NOW HITTING HIS STRIDE AFTER A NAGGING NECK INJURY SO IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW FAR HE CAN MAKE IT. I BELIEVE STATE CHAMP IS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION. HE PLACED SECOND IN A VERY DIFFICULT OHIO TOURN YESTERDAY.

taylor south is insane. i mean dont get me wrong. bobby vuaghns an awesome tech guy, tommy warrens really scrappy. elliot martins just amazing in general. but taylor south is one of the best wrestlers ive seen.

Michael Osborne from Ryle pinned Whitehouse and I think South. He has also has beaten and lost to Warren. At state duals he lost to Bradberry in overtime.

second isn't first

I think it will be Martin 1st, Bradbury 2nd, and Elam 3rd

from these choices i would put elliot but how could u not put jarvis elam or myron bradbury up there!???????????

I think Elliot Martin is the best 103 lber for KY this year. Going to be an awsome wrestler his senior year.

Its funny how everyone says that Elliot is so great, but say that Sullivan should wrestle up so colleges will start to notice him. Isnt Sullivan a Junior this year also? Or is Elliot not in the same league as Sullivan?

for your info elliott cuts no weight at all. he has a medical condition that effects his growth, he had to work very hard just to get up to weight. Yeah he is in the same league as sullivan, he will be working hard this summer to get up to 119. dont shoot off your mouth when you dont know the story

Elliot Martin is the best but if there is talk about a lot of others on here,  mabey we should talk about Saylers (Johnson Central) and Kincer (Letcher Co.)

Shawn Johnson beat Taylor South twice and was leading Warren from Fern Creek 3-2 before getting caught in a four point move as time ran out. He lsot to Whitehouse 6-5 at the Five Star so he is improving. I think he should be on the board also.

Johnson and south only wrestled once i believe and south lost by two or something like that a rematch could change it around

i agree. taylor south has the ability to beat anyone he wants. he worked hard to get down to 103 from waht ive heard. i know he will do well in regionals and he will place at state.

I'm all for being confident in your teammates (or yourself), but to say he can beat anyone he wants and he will place at state is a mouthful.  A lot can happen at 103 with so many young guys, but right now he looks to be #3 in the region which means he will have to earn that medal.  I'm not saying he can't do it, but there are at least a dozen pretty good wrestlers that he will have to beat out for it.

well said.

I think Jarvis Elam will be in the top 4 at state. Martin is the best 103 I have seen so far. Myron Bradbury should be on that list. He's really good, beaten Elam two times in overtime. It's Elam's third year of wrestling too. He has been behind both the Carr brothers for his first two years in wrestling.

well said.

well he is a very good wrestler. i know elliot martin will take first and when i said he can beat anyone i was saying pretty much anyone if he has the right chance. that was pretty stupid to say he can beat anybody because there are plenty of wrestlers that are better than him. and elliot martin is by far the best.

If memory serves me correctly, Warren pinned South in the first period last week @ North Oldham. Elliot is definately the 103 to beat, and if you can make Bradbury move on top, he is vulnerable to anyone. Havent seen many of the top six wrestle this year, but as long as Sullivan stays @ 112, Elliot is the man.

well all in all it looks like everyone is stuck on elliot haha but i can't say much cause i think he has it.

I agree Elliot will most likely take state.  I have seen South wrestle several of the top six this year.  He typically runs close to with them until he does one of two things.  1.  He tries to put in some stupid tilt with while riding the legs and gets pulled under or stepped over.  2.  He falls over on his back for a weak half or wing.

As soon as he is on his back he gets pinned.

If (and I agree this is a big if), If he works basics, or solid leg rides on top and learns to move on bottom, he can beat the majority of the top six.

Yes and if all of the jv kids around the state work all of the basics and move on the bottom and miraculously become great wrestlers we won't recognize any of the kids at region and state because all of the ranked kids will lose their wrestle-offs.  What is that supposed to mean?

CC - get Boodry ready for state!!!  Sorry Billy, I guess you're out.

What my comment meant is that South is a good wrestler, and has shown quite well on his feet.  He needs to learn to move better on bottom (he is already quite a bit better than most jvs) and stick to solid moves on top instead of trying to be like the Zeppas on his team.  Even the Zeppas have moved on from weaker leg rides like guilitine and splits to power halves or getting out of the legs and running a simple spiral ride.

Anyway, you seem to have your favorites rather than giving each individual a fair shake.  We all appreciate your perspective on seedings.  I personally believe that Coomes and his gurus have done a better job.

Please enlighten me on who my favorites are and who I refuse to give a fair shake to?

Your so funny lol

One question... Who has Taylor South beat this year?

I'm not sure exactly who he has beaten, but he has placed decent in most tournaments, but I do know hes lost both matches against whitehouse.

South hasn't beaten anybody of any significance, I don't understand why this thread has turned into a discussion about south. He may have potential, but so do many other wrestlers. He doesn't come close to any of the top at 103, he will not place this year, period.

I wish I had time to look through you posts as I have seen this over and over.  However, since I don't have time, off the top of my head is the following:

Ranger you are doing a wonderful Job,  do not pay attention to the other haters.  You have to win that is the bottom line and then the last rankings will take care of themselves.  you do a wonderful job and I believe it help a hole heck of a lot more than it hurts.  so Thank you and keep up the good work.

i have to disagree. i think he will place. im not saying it will be high, but he will place, i have a feeling. we all know who the number one spot is going to and thats elliot martin. and last time i checked south was ranked on KHSAA. Im not sure now... We'll have to see when the latest rankings are out... Does anybody know when?

South is a tough wrestler.. but he is not good enough to place if he does it will be because his draw.. unless he gets amazingly better.. he is tough but there are alot of kids fighting for a spot, and he isnt with that group really

its just the truth

I think it will be Elliot Martin and Robbie Vaughn in the finals, will be close, speed could be the determining factor. Ranger,,,, don't waste your time with a pile, it will only get bigger,,,LOL

Vaughn really didnt impress me @ the Dragon Invitational against Bradbury. Who has Vaughn or South beat this year to assume this?

so elliot martin took the mustang classic (suprise!) :-o

robby did good at the dragon invite he lost to myron by one  to a locking hands call.

it is possible to place high and wrestle terribly

I would have to say that its going to be Elliot Martin and Myron Bradbury in the finals with Martin winning and Jarvis Elam and Robbie Vaughn for third and Jarvis with the victory.

Myron Bradbury from Trinity should definitely be at the top of the list of favorites but Martin will be hard to beat.

i see vaughn in the finals against Martin losing 8-2

Have Bradbury and Vaughn wrestled at all this year? Does anybody know but I agree with Hacker I think he's got the top 4 right.

Bradbury beat Vaughn by decision to win the Dragon Invitational.

Does anyone know the score? Im sure it was very close, but given that i think that this proves Bradbury is the second best 103 in Kentucky.

Almost positive that it was only 1 or 2 points and it might have been an OT win.

the score was 3-2 vaughn took down bradburry very quickly then got a locking hands call. then bradbury hit a switch. and got on top put in legs and just stalled out

I'm gonna go with Robbie Vaughn over Bobby Vaughn, then a finals match with Martin.

there are alot of decent 103s out there today. It will be fun at state to watch the 103s in action. There will be alot of upcoming wrestlers next year. If bradberry sticks at 103 here will be the top dog. There are alot of wrestlers that are wrestling 103 again next year that are descent. If Johnson wrestles it he will be a hand full, its only his first year and he is amazing. Slayers will be one you'll have to watch out for, South if he wrestles 3 agian. Lenz of harrison county is getting better each time he wrestles he'll be one to watch for, and brown of tates creek.

This years competition at 103 in the middle of the pack has been awesome. However I dont see salyers going 103 next year, hes big already.  I think that he will be a force at whatever weight class next year.  I think that If Luke Troxell comes back next year at 103 he will be hard to handle along with Dalton Hasselbring from Wayne co.  Both of those guys are just in 7th grade..    Troxell has already had a 8-2 win over Goodwine at Danville.

I heard Goodwine was really sick that weekend tho? Never the less your are right. Troxell will be a force to be reconged with in the future.
