I think that Fuller will win.  After his win over Mastrovich in overtime, Mastrovich also went on to lose to Byrd in overtime.  It can go any way, but I think Fuller will pull it off.

I dont see the use of this poll when u only put three hwt's on there. U've left out very good HWTs who have chances to win state and some of who have beaten these three. I think that This is Byrd's year to win it and i hope so its his senior year and hes put all this time in plus he is quicker than the average hvy. and he has stregth backing him so i see Byrd taking it home this year

  I think that Fort Knox is capable of beating anyone.  I am not saying that he is unbeatable but he defenatley poses a threat to anyone who steps on the mat with him.  Conditioning is the key to how far he goes.  I like his chances.

Okay i have know idea who the heck you think you are but John Wise is a serious wrestler who doesnt go down easily. You've got your score wrong for one thing... so get it strait. it was 3-1, and espinoza didnt pull out a single move. John Wise scored the only earned point of the entire match and many more than that, that were not given to him. As for espinoza, he showed poor sportmanship, no skill, and an attitude problem when ever the reffs didnt favor his pleas...

That isnt a good example of "wrestling like a champion". So if you want to back up Chris Espinoza you might wanna try to use other cheap victories of his as better examples than his sloppy win off John Wise.

that is exactly how it went. as far as im concerned the only way Espinoza will be making a finals apperance at all is if he can find a ref in his favor. He does nothing to win but beg for a bad call. A champ would suck it up and wrestle it out, not look like a fool... Who has Espinoza beaten that makes him so great anyway? Tell me that?

i thought Hunter Eade from Dunbar looked really good at State Duals. He wrestled pretty good too.

yeah theres must be a senoir curse at mccreary like  troxell gettin 8th losing to a freshmen during his senior state tournment. At least i finshed better than him getting 3rd place my junior year.

    OK guys I have a love for the big guys. I have not responded because I have not seen that many of the Hwts this year.  I will say this however.  The Hwts that I have seen need to start wrestling. 

    What I mean by this is that most of them go out there and push, push, push, push, and do very little.  Just because you weigh 250 lbs does not mean you cannot shoot a sweep, a fireman's, or even a duck-under.  All I see from many of the Hwts are slide by's and snapdowns.  This leads to a match score of 3-2 or pin.  Booooring.

    Yes this may have worked for the finalists last year, but in the past the Hwt that can actually wrestle is the one that faired well at the state tourney.  This is why I think Young may end up in the finals.  He may be in a slump but it is because he is trying to perfect his moves.  He actually wrestles, I have seen him hit switches, sweeps, ride legs, even hit a gramby or two. 

    I'm not saying this to rile anyone, I'm actually hoping this will spark the Hwt to start doing what they are capable of doing.

matt byrd is my pick for this one he is bigger and stronger than ever. he also is the most technically sound heavyweight and he will run through this state tournament like he did before his injury plagued last season except this year he wont have Scherer waiting on him in the finals.

I think both wrestlers did great the both worked there butts off for 6:00 min.

This match was very confusing. For some reason the ref had Byrd start down when there were 13 seconds left in the first overtime when they should of started neutral. Also, when Byrd got the escape in the second overtime, why did the timekeepers stop the clock? and why didnt byrd get any type of penalty for running off the mat?

bailey had 2 injury times so byrd got to choose what he wanted(up,down,neutral).and both wrestlers stopped thinking it was over so the refs couldnt do anything about it.

Bryd did a good job of pressuring Bailey into difficult situations, but he soon realized that Bailey was still dangerous. Byrd is a seasoned wrestler and you could clearly see tha Bailey is very raw, but with some technique and conditioning to go along with his physical stature, he will be a force next year. Congrats go out to Byrd.

Bailey showed great ability. Even though he was looked very gassed at the end of the second he still managed to hang in there with the byrd man and even threw him around a little. I think Bailey's strength definately contributed to him making it into the double overtime. That was a great way to end the state tournament. I gave him a congradulatory slap on the back after the match and it was, lets say...less than dry. lol.

The first 1 minute overtime is neutral that is correct.  However if a wrestler has used his second time out (Which Bailey did when he hit his head on the floor) The othre wrestler gets to choice of positon no matter if it is overtime or not.

The time-keeper only does what the official tells them to do.  Barnett blew the wistle for the clock to stop and only then did the time keeper stop the clock. It continued the whole time Byrd left the mat and then returned. 

Ok, now i understand about the injury thing. I didn't see barnett blow his whistle at the time but your saying he did, so now i undestand what happened

Lets just put it this way. Both last years HWt final and this year were similar. Woodfords hwts worked the opponent around the mat and had the opponents gassing in the 3rd period. Kudos to Byrd who could have won big but wrestled conservative so he didnt do anything stupid!!!!

There was a lot more action in this years final. Last year the score was 2-1 with both wrestlers getting hit with stalling points and Bryan Hall gave Goodwrich a point for an illegal headlock, otherwise it would've been overtime

Bailey I thought you did a heck of a job. You have progressed tremendously from the first time I saw you wrestle. I hope I helped you in some way by talking to you before the match. I told your coach that I would really like the opportunity to work with you more in the off season on your technique. You know where we are, come to our practice more often.

bailey as your former teammate i must say going to war with you everyday in practice and cheering you on for 2 years now bro i want o let you kno everybody in hardin county and mostly in the state of Ky is proud of you man!

You have nothin to hang your head about! You wrestle your heart out and Coach Cullen is very proud! Man what im saying is next yer is your year! sure fuller will be back but you beat him and you know what it takes now to get where you needa be! last years finals there was definately not as much action. Bryan Hall was not gassed last year either. This years 285 finals was very close and it was a dang good match!
