119 finals - will be Caleb Wood vs. Coty Lewis 6-2

Caleb Wood is going 19??? I thought he was going 12 again, or at least thats what his brother tells me...

(edit) ahh nvm, i do believe i stand corrected..

what all teams will be attending the king of the bluegrass and where will the best wrestlers be.

what all teams will be attending the king of the bluegrass and where will the best wrestlers be.
I believe that woodford will be there like always, and also i heard wayne county may be there so its good competition just right there. If anyone knows of a team that knows there going, feel free to post it.

whats 145 looking like?

At 145 there should be Courtney Harrison from woodford. I know there is a team from New Albany going to be there. Who are all of the teams that are going to be there. What are some team rankings and what are some individual rankings can anyone help. Caleb wood is tough I would pick him to win at 119 or 112.

Fern Creek is going to be there, and the team from Indiana that's going to be there is Reitz, I thought it was called King of the Bluegrass for a reason :\

What teams are going to be there. How many teams are going to be there.

Predictions??

Team

1. Woodford

2. Fern Creek

3. Trinity

4. Eastern

5. Evansville Reitz

103

112 Caleb Wood

119 Zach Peters

125 Rusty Parks

130

135 Coleman

140

145 Courtney Harrison

152 Alex Weiss

160 Will Starks

171 Neesen

189 Starks

215 Byrd

Hwt Goodrich

Does anyone know if all the guys that were out when Larue beat Woodford are still going to be out? I'm just wonderin..

What about predictions? Larue beat Woodford???

Woodford had Parks, Lewis, Byrd, Sheehan and Kyle White at 112 all out of the lineup.

Win,

About your predictions. Neesen graduated, so Will Starks is at 171 and Byrd and Sheehan are going to be out again for sure this week as well, I don't know about Parks, Lewis, or White though. Just wanted to let you know.

I also believe Caleb Wood is at 119, at least that's what people have been saying.

What weigh does byrd and sheenhan wrestle? I figured there would be some preditions on weight class champs and team champs.

Byrd is at 215 and Sheehan is at 140.

Is south oldham going to be at this tournament and doe ne one know what weight ben greco is wrestling

Any region six teams gonna be there?

Win,

His name is Harrison Courtney not Courtney Harrison.

AllAmricn157,

Why didn't Woodford's Kyle White wrestle at 112 during the LaRue County match?

Wasn't he wrestling in all of the matches previous to that one?

kyle white hurt his ribs against bradbury but it isnt serious... does anyone know who will be tough at 103?? also 125??

i just got onto the Indiana website and it looks 2 really stcik out from rietz.

Jeremy Kempf ranked 5th @140 and Lucas Robertson ranked 18th @130.

i also read that Robertson pinned some state champ. and Kempf looked really solid.

Who is the Favorite to win this tourney?

I just heard New Albany and Reitz will be there?

This will make the king of bluegrass a better tournament.

Id say that woodford county is the favorite to win the tournament. They are kentucky state champs. But i see it being a close race for the top 3 teams.

I think that fern creek will be in the top 4 as a team.

John wolseifer will win it a 152, we saw them at the wayne co. dual and he looked very good, along with the whole fern creek squad.

Fern creek will beat woodford  If they have full line up it will be a good dual :!:

If Trinity is going to be there shouldn't Clark be the favorite at HWT? I don't think Goodrich can match up to Clark.

Is wolfsierer going to be at 152 or 160 i have read both on this forum. And if so where is alex weis.

Fern Creek beat Woodford???? ur kidding right? im sayin Woodford wins it easy maybe by 100 pts.

I've heard Byrd is out for the year....they will also have Lewis and Sheahan out for KOB.

Woodford will not win KOB by 100 points there are to many quality teams ( Trinity, Fern Creek ,Evansville Reitz).

If they win they will not win by more than 30. You also have New Albany coming down with some quality wrestlers.

New team predicition

1 Reitz

2 Woodford

3 Fern Creek

4 Trinity

5 New Albany

Byrd's arm looks bad! I'm not a doctor but my guess is a bad set first time, I'd look for them to re-break and get it reset. Got a big 'ol knot on the forearm.

Whats the deal with Indiana teams being at KOB? When did they become part of the bluegrass?

Whats the deal with Indiana teams being at KOB? When did they become part of the bluegrass?

Well the only problem I see in that is for example say one of the Indiana teams place at KOB, They cant get ranked or good seeds in kentucky tournaments, that takes a spot and oppurtunity for a kentucky kid that may have been having a bad day or something.

Besides that I think its solidly better competition and a good match up for Kentucky wrestlers to show some Indiana wrestlers what the BLUEGRASS is all about.

Whats the deal with Indiana teams being at KOB? When did they become part of the bluegrass?

"A good competitor welcomes any and all competition"

Muhammad Ali

It is all about compotion!!!!!

If a Indiana teams wins, yes they are KING OF THE BLUE GRASS, don't be angry! WE should be ready to for the challenge.

About the seeds, if they are good enough they will find a way to win!!

What is up with the pedictions are we afriad??

I personally think that reitz or new albany will be luck to get in the top 3, maybe top five, id say that it will be woodford, fern creek, south oldham in the top 3.

Lets make a bet if Reitz make top 2 (not 3) or win you have to give your name. I know it is a strech, however I bet I see you name.

Just a friendly challenge.

sure but i doubt you will see it or if you do will have ne idea who i am.

I know I will see it :!: :!: :!: :!: DEAL

Reitz is bringing what many consider to be their best team in a long long time. They will be a definite factor in the outcome of this tournament. I think its great that Reitz and New Albany are participating in this event. We should encourage more teams just across the river to wrestle with the KY teams.

How about Floyd Central, Providence, Charlestown, Jeffersonville, Tell City, Corydon? All good teams within close proximity that could make for a great tournament!

Is south oldham coming to the tourney too? I don't they have ever been at this tourney. If so they would add some real good competition.

I think its good Indiana teams are coming over. At least those teams respect you enough that they think your tourney won't be a joke.

Up here in N Ky you rarely ever get a Ohio/Cincinnati team come over here, its always a Ky team that goes over there. Look at it as a compliment, and more importantly a way to learn something by increasing the calibre of the meet if you have good teams coming over.

Those are great points :!:

south oldham is going to the raider rumble not the king of the bluegrass.....

How is the weather around Louisville? Is the tournament still a go? School was cancelled in Evansville (In) today.

How is the weather around Louisville? Is the tournament still a go? School was cancelled in Evansville (In) today.

Everything is clear up this way, only a few schools were closed most were just delayed an hour or so.

The tournament is a "GO"

hey guys i know there was some good match-ups also who won as a team ? and if you know list the top individuals in each weight class.

Chief,

See Results.

Is it just me or were those the quietest finals you've ever heard?

where was malcom jackson penguinskillkids ?

Also, was Rusty Parks still out? Any big upsets? It looks like everything pretty much went as planned?

where was malcom jackson penguinskillkids ?

He went 130, should've been him and kid from Reitz in the finals because their match in the semis was so much better than the finals match between Reitz and New Albany, Reitz didn't seed any of their kids though.

What happened to him in the consulations?Did Marks look good?

yea tell us how 130 went down for each match

hey, chief, who did Larue wrestle this weekend?

I didn't see Marks wrestle.

I don't know what happened during Malcolm's constalation match I was preoccupied laughing at some nasty old man that was there lol......Anyone that was there knows what I'm talking about, and 130 looked good, the kid Malcolm lost to from Reitz was tough, real tough but I think Malcolm could get him on a different day.

So who did his second loss come from?

what do u think the best finals matches were???

Courtney beat Jeremy Kempf from Reitz in the semis and looked good

Man I thought Harrison was going to just get ate up on his feet and that's where the kid would make sure the match stayed, but Harrison was just too good on the mat for him.

Harrison's win over Kempf was a nice victory over #5 ranked IN wrestler.

The other ranked kid from Reitz was Robertson who won his weight at 130lbs and looked good doing it, he was pushed hard by Jackson and the New Albany kid in the finals.

Daniel Murner, what an all around athelete. I saw he only lost to Caleb Wood by one. A cross country state champ last year and 3rd this year (South Oldham moved to large school in Cross Country, so it was harder), and very competitive wrestler who placed last year in wrestling as well. Wow.

did chad fyffe wrestle for woodford last year? did he move there or what???

Moved from Franklin Co.

Since the Raider Rumble was cancled and South Oldam showed up, KOB turned out to be one of the toughest tournies in kentucky next to Woodford and the Dragon Invite.

Malcolm Jackson didn't even come close to Robertson. He loist by pin and then he was beaten badly by Bowldes of Trinity i dont think he could beat them on hi s best day.

hmmm...a good wrestler moving to #1 ranked woodford county for his senior year....i hope he's not pulling a fast one like that kid from highlands in football mike mitchell. it would be a shame for woodford to have to forfeit all of their meets.

so who do u think will win between marks and bowlds of trinity ?

I dont know but Bryant teched the Trinity kid at the bluegrass games.

pioneer,

I moved to woodford for my senior yr only(99), as did rick mcclain (97) and others...good teams attract good wrestlers. Slugantz(01) was from Indiana but moved to woodford as a soph. there isn't one thing illegal as long as the kid has a residence in the county. Its not recruiting either woodford has enough good wrestlers to make up three lexington teams so no one is guarnteed a spot when they get there. Its called tradition and it flows like wine in versailles, KY!!

KYgrappler

kygrappler....i realize why wrestlers want to go there. i understand there's a tradition there. however, you may be misinformed about the residency thing. i suggest you read up on the mike mitchell case from highlands. his family had a "residency" in the school district, yet the khsaa declared him ineligible and said it was not a legal move. highlands' official record 2 years ago was something like 2-14, state champs...because they played a player ruled ineligible. mike mitchell didn't get to play in the state championship game. his family hired a lawyer and all kinds of crap.

btw - your attitude is exactly why 90% of the state looks at woodford wrestlers as arrogant and wants to see them all lose down state...then your moms are wandering the hallways whinning about why there's 4500 people in frankfort cheering when your guys lose down state. i've defended WC several times on this message board, and there's always some yahoo like you on here making a statement like "it's called tradition and it flows like wine in versailes".... obviously you know NOTHING of tradition since you transferred there your senior year....can someone say BANDWAGON? way to build a tradition there hero!

Pioneer pride,

So true, so true. Non one denies that Joe and Rusty do an excellant job at Woodford. However the wrestlers there have an attitude problem.

You don't see the same Booing to Larue, Campbell, Sheldon Clark, or any of the other perenial powers in wrestling.

Kygrappler;

If you believe that building a tradition is taking from other districts you are sadly mistakin. building a tradition is just that, wrestlers moving up the ranks in the system, not transfering from another system.

pioneer and chums:

take all the personal shots you want...I got a ring...you don't. I transferred to the best program in the state to win..not to worry about how you all fell when you lose yr after yr after yr after yr after yr after yr after yr.

Lets not get too personal on a forum, either. you don;t know me i don;t know you lets leave it at that...if you want to meet me or talk in person I'll be at some matches over the break (wathcing my alma mater SPANK some other teams) I'd be more than happy to discuss why Woodford is so successful, hell I'll even let you in on some secrets of the team.

SECRET #1: We don't care what anyone else thinks about us....as long as we're winnin the titles they can think whatever they want. It would n;t be as fun if you all liked us.

BTW shouldn't you and others be proud that you have such a great program in your state???

GO to Iowa, OKlahoma, Michgan, Ohio, New Jersy, Florida anywhere and ask if they've heard of Larue or Campbell Co. The answer is hell no....then ask if they know woodford co. they will be able to tell you the coaches names...past wrestlers, etc. you don't get that kinda recongintion w/o decades of success.

As far as bandwagon goes...I can't even begin to address that b/c if i did you would instantly know who I am....and that takes the fun out of it. I suggest you get your woodford shirt now while there's still room on this wagon....BEAT the RUSH..SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL YELLOWJACKET!

KYg

you actually think people outside of this state have heard of WC?:lol::lol::lol: Give me a break!!! oh wait, i'm sure that team from Ohio that doubled up your score at the hammer & anvil last year has heard of you. and yes, i have a ring too...so don't start puffin your chest up there chief. don't worry about revealing your secret identity....your secret's safe with me woodford99....oops...i suppose you didn't want your secret, secret identity leaked.:lol:

btw - as since i'm pretty sure you are in fact the infamous woodford99, i thought you'd like to know that when you were making a fool of yourself on here before, i got several PMs from woodford guys on here saying ignore that creep...as one person put it "he's a nobody that thought he was somebody"

don't make it personal, and it won't be personal.

I think I will go and polish my 2 title rings also. That would be team title rings at that. OH and by the way we did it without any outside help, ie recruiting, we developed ours from the wee ages on up.

Spanking some other teams, hmmmm. I do believe WC earned a second place at the Oldham Co. Super Duals.

As for loyalty. Don't you feel any loyalty to the coach that taught you wrestling for 3 years before you went to WC?

Go where you want, I personally like Joe and Rusty. I just sometimes don't appreciate how their team acts on the floor.

Wrestling is more than just winning. It's about respect, dedication, loyalty. The reason wrestling is great is because you can be bitter enemies on the mat, but when it's over can be friends. Comradery, and the respect of other teams is what makes wrestling so great.

You unfortunatly did not learn most of this. I do however believe there are many who do at WC. Maybe not as many that should though.

Team titles mean nothing if you don't earn the respect with them, they are just hollow victories.

yea....what he said! i've also met some woodford guys who are totally cool & humble about their success....I don't know why i let a guy like this give me a bad impression of WC overall, but i do. i'm sure i'm not the only one.

pioneer and old:

I am not woodford 99, although he is a close friend o mine and will be happy to hear that you think so highly of him.

And BTW WOODFORD COUNTY is known nationwide (I've wrestled outside this state in HS and college and almost everywhere I went as soon as I mentioned KY they asked if I was from woodford co., dominating a state for 25 yrs kinda makes its way around). Obviously you are far too immature or sore to discuss HS wrestling w/o taking personal shots so I am done replying to anything you guys say..I have too many other things to worry about so... good luck to whoever you cheer for and keep on hating WC( if you want) it will get you nowhere....and ol grappler you continuously say that you have respect for rusty and carr but would you say these things to their face??? Do you really respect them if you consistently call their wrestlers "trashy, cocky, etc." i doubt you would even look carr in the face w/o telling him how great he and woodford are for this state and this sport. Who beat woodford this weekend......an in-state school????? just wonderin I don;t know, but i do know they are w/o two state finalsts right now.

KYgrappler

haha, you're delusional dude....st. paris graham, lakewood st. eds, blair academy....they're known everywhere....you guys are probably somewhat well known in the bordering states, but i seriously doubt even a handful of wrestlers from say Iowa know what state WC is even from. whatever, i give up. i'm sure there's a ton of ex & current WC wrestlers that are ashamed of you on here running your mouth. hope you & woodford99 are proud.

Who Beat them was Larue Co. at the Oldham Co. Super Duals

I have known Joe and Rusty for going on 20 years now. I have mentioned to them how sneaky they personally are and how cocky their wrestlers are. Joe's reply is typical Joe, Laughing, patting me on the back, and saying in a low voice, "I know". Rusty on the other hand denies it.

25 years of dominance maybe 15 years of continuous success.

Woodford had great success in the 70's, however in the 80's they were almost forgotten. They returned to their 70's success in the early 90's, and have continued througout.

At for other people knowing Woodford Co. out of state, I would give that credit to Joe Carr and the Carr family. The Carr name is a wrestling name, if not for Joe Woodford would have just as much recognition as the others. I on the other hand am asked if I wrestled for Campbell Co. whenever I talk about wrestling in Ohio, to Ohio wrestlers, coaches, and ex-wrestlers in the Columbus, Dayton, and Cleveland area. Lately they have been asking if I wrestled for Ryle. Only on occation do they remember the name of Woodford Co., they do however know there is another good team in Lou/Lex. area.

As for who I root for, it's not uncommon for me to root for a Woodford Co. wrestler. I root for the wrestlers that have class on and off the mat, and for those who will represent our state with dignity if they continue on past high school. Not all Woodford Co. wrestlers are cocky, just more than on usual teams.

I know the secret to Woodford's success it's team pride, maybe only Larue Co. can compete with that. I enjoy watching them "run the gauntlet" onto he mat. I enjoy watching the team greet their wrestler after the match win or lose. This type of hype pulls a team together, but in my opinoin they need to do this with humility, much like Larue and Campebel do.

you actually think people outside of this state have heard of WC?:lol::lol::lol: Give me a break!!! oh wait' date=' i'm sure that team from Ohio that doubled up your score at the hammer & anvil last year has heard of you. and yes, i have a ring too...so don't start puffin your chest up there chief. don't worry about revealing your secret identity....your secret's safe with me woodford99....oops...i suppose you didn't want your secret, secret identity leaked.:lol:

Pioneer_Pride-

You obviously have your stories mixed pal! KY_Grappler and I are not the same person, but like he said are very good friends. Also, I don't believe that anyone would call me a creep; who says creep anymore? I also don't think that anyone who really knows me would call me a "nobody who thought I was a somebody." As far as that goes they and you can kiss my a**. Please don't hesitate to come looking for a conversation about this if you are at any of the holiday tourneys. I will be more than happy to give you some knowledge and formally introduce myself.

P.S. My two rings are heavy anymore, I am getting old!

Well spoken grappler of ancient days! I acknowledge everything you say and agree 100%. As a Larue parent and fan, I can honestly say that we (fans) are arrogant and very loud when we wrestle WC. We do this for a reason because we believe that WC and LC are the only real rivalry in Kentucky wrestling. Not taking a thing away from other schools just stating what I believe to be true. I have nothing but respect for the WC program and their success but I still don't like them and never will (it's called rivalry) and it exists at all levels and kinds of sports and IMHO it's a good thing. As for LC's wrestlers, I can vouch for everyone of them because I know them all. You won't find a better group of kids and I dare say their opponenets will vouch for them as well. Ozzy Parker is the most polite kid on the planet, Pat Banks and Stacy Miller have the deameanor of an ice cube and are never rattled win or lose and I could go on about the others as well. Watch Gary Canter when one of his kid's get's out of line...punishment is harsh and swift.

Pappy-

Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about. Is it uncommon for fans to boo when competing against a rival??? I am going to the Louisville vs. Kentucky game this weekend. Do you not think that Rupp Arena will be filled with boos when Louisville takes the court? This is a common thing in sports, you all somehow try and create this picture that high school wrestling is a sanctuary, where everyone should be friends and smack each other on the a** after every match. In any sport their are heated rivalries, so everyone quit crying and claiming that Woodford gets booed because nobody likes or respectst them. The truth of the matter is, that most human beings will pull for the underdog to take down the favorite everytime.

lol, i threw the creep in there on my own, it's sort of meant as a joke that apparently wasn't funny to you. however, i will swear on a stack of bibles that a WC wrestler that I know...sent me a PM (last season) and stated about woodford99 something to the effect of: "Please don't judge WC by woodford99....I know who he is....he's a nobody who thinks he's a somebody." This is a person who's still involved with the WC program who stated this.

I definitely don't have the story mixed up there. And even if you 2 aren't the same person, you're obviously friends who think/speak alike on here, and come off as very cocky and doing a very poor job of representing WC wrestling. If you guys like WC having a reputation as being very cocky, by all means, continue your ways. I can tell you, the friend of mine who sent me the PM doesn't want WC guys to appear cocky. (he stated this in his pm & in conversation at the state tourney last year). I doubt the coaches want WC guys to appear cocky, yet here we are...3 or 4 people on here arguing back and forth with 1 or 2 cocky WC wrestlers. You'll never learn, so i'm done chatting with you about it.

happy pappy....not to argue with you, but you may feel LC guys are arrogant, but from an outsider's perspective, i've always considered them as confident.....there's a subtle difference IMHO.

PiPride;

I did not mean our wrestlers being arrogant, I meant our fans (esp. me). As I went on to state, I believe just the opposite about our kids. The people in Atlanta last year could not get over our (fans and wrestlers) enthusiasm and the fact that our kids showed so much class and school spirit (something that rarely is displayed anymore). Heck our kids started singing the school fight song after tournament wins last year and have carried that on into this year (O.C. Super duals). I love it because it reminds me of the good ol days.

The way things are going the boos may start when UK takes the court

True.

True.

my bad, you're right....i misread that happy. possumdaddy....it's pretty tough times to be a UK fan this year, huh? a nice win over U of L could turn this thing around though!!

The way things are going the boos may start when UK takes the court

Thats the way it should be every year!

:)

Go Cards!

Thats the way it should be every year!

:)

Go Cards!

The best thing about Rupp area "is see Blue and White Wrestling Mats from one end to the other"

Red and White for the Cards Area

Wow, now there's two of em arguing with you Pioneer. You've really opened a can of worms, or stepped in a real hornet's nest. We'll all be the judge of which, but i'm voting not a hornet's nest.

Okay, that was a pretty gay riddle .... i'm bored now.

And yes, i'm almost willing to boo UK the way they're playing.

Thats the way it should be every year!

:)

Go Cards!

Loserville = Little Brother

and that's the way it will always be.

ahhh yea!! little brother got the smacketh laid on him Saturday!! i'ts a glorious day!!

Not to bing a bad subject back up but I have been following this feud between a couple people on here about woodford having bad sportsmanship and being cocky but I saw them at the Bourbon County Bash this weekend and they carried themselves very well. I found the wrestlers coaches and parents/fans to be very respectful. Great job on the wrestling this weekend to all the wrestlers at Bourbon.
