How was the officiating at regions, besides region 6 which we all have heard about already.
Officiating at regions

Region 1 was very well called with no controversy .
region 2 had 1 ref. who was the worst ive ever seenRegion 1 was very well called with no controversy .
I thought Region 7 was well officiated. I didn't hear any complaints. I know there was a fairly new official there and another one that I hadn't seen before and two others we have seen quite often this season. I think they did a great job.
I'm not sayin' I wasn't satisfied with Region 3 reffing but there was a rediculous amount of pins that weren't called. Alot of near-fall not awarded. And I heard that one of the refs awarded someone with "4" near fall. Not sure if it's true. I do like the bearded black ref though, he cracks me up when he calls pins.

I love that ref.
The one that does the "worm" pins, and the rolling pins, I love it.
You can get 4 back points, so you know though.
How would you get 4 back points? For a tap?
i have heard from a few different people that region 2 officials didn't do so well....especially at 103, i heard 2 wrestler's got screwed due to bad officiating

Yep
It is hard to accept a loss and own up to it when you are beaten by a 3 seed!i have heard from a few different people that region 2 officials didn't do so well....especially at 103, i heard 2 wrestler's got screwed due to bad officiating
Yep
They said that the kid just turned back to his stomach and the ref gave him 4 points. I don't think it was for a tap.

the familar refs were good, but the new ref and the one i hadnt seen before, im not to sure about them. a couple calls were a little wierd and could have been controversial. other than that the reffing was good. there arent enough stalling calls in kentucky wrestling though until you get to state. i think all refs should step up the stalling calls AND MAKE EVERYONE WORK the entire match.
i agree stalling needs to be called more often

maybe not even called, just a warning to get the ball rolling, you know?
Yea. I saw some pretty rediculous stalling that didn't even get hit with a warning.

you are there to wrestle, either wrestle, or get off the mat. thats just my opinion. if you are ahead by 1 or two points with a few seconds left, stalling is fine, but stalling an entire match? and then to get a win from it, thats just not right in my opinion. and some wrestlers wrestle like this, but the refs dont call it most of the time.
I just want it to be consistent. If you're going to call stalling at state you need to call it all year long. Don't let kids get away with until state and start blasting them.
You will see stalling called alot this weekend I bet. it always happens because Julian and all the other guys from KHSAA are going to be there to watch the referee's. I wish it would be called all year long.
i thought that the refs at region 3 were callin their pinns way too slow.. or not callin them at all. there were soo many pinns that were not called and caused teams to do bad. i wasnt happy but whats your opinion on the refs in region 3?
are you kidding the ref in the middle mat called pins like they were going out of style.....he looked like he wanted to go home he yelled at every wrestler and even put his hands on one i for one never want to see this guy againi thought that the refs at region 3 were callin their pinns way too slow.. or not callin them at all. there were soo many pinns that were not called and caused teams to do bad. i wasnt happy but whats your opinion on the refs in region 3?

That isn't much better. You don't want either extreme out there on the mat. You don't want a kid to fall asleep before he gets called "pinned" by the ref and you also don't want any of those .0000000000000000000001 second pins either. I wrestled on the middle mat and had the Southern kid CLEARLY stuck more than once for 5 or 6 seconds at a time and it never got called. Little calls like those are what can cost a team a region championship.
yes he was
was he big n black?
yea he is from region 2 he has been calling pins like that all year!
and he is very loud!
as soon as the match starts he says "ACTION!"

the refs in region 6 were slow to call pins as well. Everyone knows that Tod cole is natorious for his quick pins, but he was extremely hesitant to call them at regionals.
Big black ref to me was terrible and he threatened a fan from Fairdale. Ha. You can't do that. He called some pins when kids shoulders were way off the mat and cheated some wrestlers. But as far as our kids go he didn't screw up. Only thing I hate is that he tries to steal the show. Nobody is there to watch you be loud and annoying, they are there to watch the wrestlers..

i don't know if this was the case with Cole this weekend or any other ref....but a good ref once told me that during the season they like to call pins quicker....so the kids will learn to stay off their backs for when it matters - regionals and state. i think the refs should just call them consistently, and avoid the controversy.....but some refs do feel a bit of an obligation to "teach" the wrestlers a bit during the season. that could be viewed as a good thing i think.
i know that taking a defeet is hard for anybody but to know they had a person beat and have that taken away by poor reffing is a shame in region 2 it should have been woods and henderson personally if i had to be given a match then so be it hopefully henderson or woods can meet woodbine at state then let the chips fall wherever they mayIt is hard to accept a loss and own up to it when you are beaten by a 3 seed!
