We're about the only paper in the state that devotes as much coverage to the sport. So I don't want to hear any of that.

Nate and I have talked about it. There are some things we could do and some things we can't. Everyone will just have to wait until next season starts to see what we put together.

Sounds like a plus for wrestling, Has there ever been an award given at the KPA for a wrestling article?

Maybe we should recognize a newspaper for outstanding coverage of the sport. It probably doesn't make as much sense from the perspective of coming from this website, but I think it is something the coaches could consider. Besides, they know what papers are using the info they pass on and who doesn't have the space for them (or ignores them).
ranger123, not a bad idea!!!

The Kentucky Softball Coaches' Association gives out such an award (my paper got it five years ago after a series of lengthy articles on the affects (or lack thereof) of not having pitching limitations when baseball strictly enforces them.
And the KSCA inducted at least one media member, Jim McAlister, into its Hall of Fame.
Granted, it's softball, but still ...

And I don't think the KPA does anything to award papers for wrestling coverage. But I could be wrong.

Well since Nky does not have its own paper I guess there won't be any awards given up here. (Sarcasm)Now if we included Ohio wrestling articles then the Cincinnati/Nky Post and Enquirer may qualify.
Nky does not get much press for thier wrestling in the papers up here.
I did win an award from the Kentucky Press Association about five years ago about a story about brothers Josh Franks and Stephen Franks wrestling each other in the region tournament.
Haven't won an award since then though (although I did have another wrestling story picked up by the Associated Press).
I peaked before I was even old enough to drink. Dang it!
