I believe the coaches mentioned realigning the regions a little before next season. How many teams are in each region?

I know region 4 only has 8 teams with 3 of those not even fielding half a roster.

With possibly the addition of Butler to region 3 putting them at 13, I'd say they may lose a couple teams.

Meade County possibly going to region 2 with the Hardin county schools?

I believe that would put them at 9 teams.

As far as adding a team to region 4, I'd say Southern is the most logical choice based on location.

Any news of new region alignments?

Region 1 has 12 teams: Apollo, Henderson, Union, Caldwell, Ft. Campbell, Ohio, Christian, Hopkinsville, Calloway, University Heights Academy, Apollo, and Daviess Co. Marshall Co. is adding a program this year and that will put them at 13 team mark. I'd say if region 1 lost a team, it will be Ohio Co. moving into region 2 with Larue and the Hardins.

region 7 is good. all the school are really close with the exception of harrision county, and maybe montgomery. i don't know where they are. and harrison is only 45 mins away. i doubt this region will be altered, maybe added to.

Definitely a possibility with light numbers in the north.  There are only 8 teams in region 6 and Holmes is always low on numbers.  But the addition of Boone would be 9 teams.

Do we have to start worrying about some of these regions having the dreaded 5 match rule issues?  Could that be sparking the realignment discussion?

That's true, region 7 had this problem this year.

I've said this in past posts.  Back in the dino age when I wrestled we had a two day district tourney. 

We had 10 teams (Boone, Campbell, Conner, Dixie, Holmes, Lloyd, Scott, Simon Kenton, Newport, Newport Catholic)

Stopped the two days in 1983 because we were back to 8 teams. (newport and NCC droppen in 82) should have been a one day in 1982.
