How boxing and wrestling relate

Topic ID: 2238 | 3 Posts

Hello all,

I wrestled in high school for three years (senior year at conner) and continued my career independently through open tourneys and will hopefully be at OU in a year wrestling for them. I recently picked up boxing and it seems to relate alot to wrestling for ex. the jab is almost similar in a sense to putting your hand in the opponents face or even shucking them to the ground just to set them up for your main move... Was wanting to know everyones take on the relation between the two.

It definately relates. Just like any one-on-one sport related. Your body can only do so many things and when you change the rules of a sport, those limitations stay the same.

the link is about a Penn state wrestler who was told he could not wrestle again after a back injury. So he took up boxing and became a NCAA champ and he also rehabilitated his back to where he could wrestle again.
