Just off the top of my head I was thinking about this today, has there ever been an Ervin that has not won state at least one time? Weird question.
Ervin's

That's a good question. The only Ervin's so far that havn't are Gary Ervin (Luke's dad), Luke Ervin, and Isaac. Robert won it twice, Tim, Brad, Mitch, and Max have won it once. Caleb is a 2x middle state champ. Robbie Wedding has won state, he's married to Robert's sister and his son won state in middle school this year, Logan Wedding. There are more to come. Robert has 6 boys with Isaac the oldest one.
Issac did win state at 60 in 05' didnt he?

You're thinkin' of Maxx I think.
No because it was Issac Ervin that beat Darren Mitchell from Doss in the semifinals. I've heard the story proabably a hundred times.
no alex once again you are wrong....it was max so you are wrong...im right...your dumb...im smart..im big your little...and there is nothing you can do about it...lol...j/k moderatersNo because it was Issac Ervin that beat Darren Mitchell from Doss in the semifinals. Isaac was only a 130 this year and he wasn't even in high school the year you are talking about
Lol, it was definitely Max that won it at 160 in '05. He pinned Darren Mitchell, which the year before Darren majored Max in the 3rd place match at 152. Darren is the biggest, most ripped guy I have ever seen on a wrestling mat. That guy from Fort Knox this year (I think 171) or wherever was nearly as big as him. Isaac placed 2nd in middle school but never won anything. The only tournaments he has won in High School are both the regional tournaments he's been in. He always comes in 2nd. Maybe next year his luck will change.
ok ok... geez...
looking back it seems there was a Billy Ervin in 1985 This was his only appearance at state and he did not win.
Ok you perked my interest and caused me to do some research.

what about all of the other infamous named families. coopers, murtons, carr(woodford), carr(union).
Well 2 of them will be easy.
Murton only had
Jarius 2X state champion
Jacob 3X state champion 2X MVW
Carr only had
Joe Jr. 4X state champion 5X state finalist.
The others I will do some research on.
I will look up both Coopers (SK) and (Larue) They are seperate families.
and look up the Carr from Union, but I don't remember much other than the recent two.
I'll try to get this before the night is over.
What about the starks brothers for woodford.
I'd say if there were more Coles throughout the years, they would run away with it. Other than that it would have to go to the Ervins.
The Cole's were consistently dominant, they just needed more kids. I'm not sure Ervins are the obvious winners. I think the Stepps are right there with them. As we stand today (which is a big stipulation) the Ervins only lead in champs (by 1) and the Stepps have a big edge in finalists. But as we all know, the Ervins have many more numbers to put up in the coming years.
I
dats back wen hoptown ran the show...in wrestling
I looked up the Herring clan. but they only dominated in the 80's.
I don't have the info in front of me (I'm at work). I'll try to get the info, but Jr. may have a game tonight.
I stayed away from cousins because of not knowing who were the cousins. I thing Preece and Rhodes may have been a cousin to the Steps.
ok here is what I got with the Herrings

Carr only has Adam and Aaron.
I would have to say the Coopers (SK) are right up there with the Ervins and Stepps.

I am not sure if the Preece and Rhodes family are related to the Stepps, but if they are you can add 5 more state titles to the family and probably several other state placings. Scott Rhodes 1-time state champ, Jeremy Rhodes 2-time, and Josh Preece 2-time.
