when do the registration forms have to be mailed in?

i think im gonna go, OP from nelson county (graduated in 06) i may bring some guys from nelson or calloway!

I'm going to be wrestling in the university 125 division.  Any other old little guys going to be there?

I will be wrestling in the open HWT, was going to try to make it 197, but tired of cutting weight.

OK, I've been looking over the results from the last few games and thought I would challenge some guys.  Jefferson county has owned the tournament (most medals, most golds), but that is not surprising as they have the bulk of the teams in the state.  But Fayette, Woodford, and Wayne (dominated last year with 18 golds and 35 medals) have been competitive.  I am a bit surprised at the weak numbers from northern KY.  Campbell with only 4 medals in 3 years?  WOW!  Come on guys.  Get the numbers out and lets see if who is going to represent their county pride.  Here are the medal counts for the last 3 BGSG tournaments:

County   Gold Silver Bronze Total

Jefferson   31 21 22 74

Fayette   26 17 20 63

Is there gonna be anyone good at Cadet/Junior/Senior 160/171. I'm planning on wrestling multiple weights/ages if possible. I don't want to unless there are gonna be tough matches.

Ethan Dunn from Moore

Jake Lee will be there at 160 cadet.

Will they let me wrestle 160 and 171? Also, what weight did Dunn wrestle last year and who all did he beat.

Yeah they will.

I guess that'll cost double or somethin'? Anybody know?

The way it worked in the past, you could wrestle two age groups and two weight classes per age group, so ultimately you can wrestle in four different brackets all for one entry fee.  You'd just have to say what divisions you were going to wrestle in when you were registering/weighing in.  I don't know if anything has changed, but I don't think so.

at 171 Dunn beat Marcell Haynes  and thats all im sure of as of now

Trinity should be well represented at the BGSG.  Both Hitchings, Bradbury, Smith, Barton, Ohlmann, Watkins, Harbolt, Watley, and more.  Danger - Brad will be at 171 Cadet and Junior.

That's cool. I guess i'm gonna wrestle Cadet 160 and 171 and Junior 160 and 171.

You cant do that. You can wrestling Cadet 160 and 171, or you can wrestling Cadet 160 and Junior 160. Dude you would be in 4 different brackets lol. Thats a possibility of like 12 matches.

I like to get as many matches as possible. After my last tourny I gotta redeem myself. lol. My wrestlin' was lookin' sloppy and i've been tightenin' up the screws. Especially on foot work. I even asked Jeff Smith [Oldham Co. 189] for an exebition. lol. I just want as much as I can get. I'm startin' that week off with the Bullit Central camp and headin' straight into BSG.

Lol dang 12 matches though.. youd be toasted. Thats like 3 tourneys in one day. And the 5 match rule.

I don't think the 5 match rule applies to off season tournies. I think it's only during highschool season. Can anyone give me a definate answer as to whether or not i'll be able to wrestle in four brackets? Two is fine but I would like to get as much in as possible.

i hope union goes

Im telling you now, it is a deffinite no that you cant wrestle in 4 brackets. And yeah your right about the 5 match rule, I dont think it goes into effect. You might be able to get some exhibitions in though.

http://www.bgsg.org/pdfs/summer_2007/Wrestling.pdf this is the flier for the bgsg.

What HWT's will be attending the BGSG for University????

Most off season tournaments don't worry about the 5 match rule.  It just depends on the tournament and what rules they go by.  I believe the 5 match rule is a National High School Federation rule.  All the h.s. refs during season are insured through the KHSAA which abides by these rules.  In the off season, a lot of the tourneys use AAU & USAW.  They have their own rules.  I don't believe either have a 5 match rule, but they have a minimum rest period.

hehe, 12 matches in 1 day, you'll be worn out, but good for you!  That's awesome.

I spoke to Chris McCoy about this and confirmed that you can only compete in basically 2 brackets.  You can bump up in age or in weight, and enter 2 brackets - max.  He has not charged in the past for the 2nd bracket...i can't swear he won't this year or in the future..but it's well worth it if he does.

Coach McCoy,

What do the numbers look like so far for the 9-10 year old divisions

I looks like Chris Sullivan will be there wrestling University or open.

OK guys. I am working on the remote weigh-in sites and will make my decisions tonight and get them posted in the morning. Let me address a few things.

1. You can wrestle in two weight classes (Cadet 160 and Cadet 171) OR you can wrestle in two age groups (Cadet 160 and Junior 160) but you can not do both. A participant can only do two due to having to wrestle back to back with no break. This is a safety issue and I will not budge on this to get more matches. We work hard to make sure everyone gets matches and has an enjoyable yet competitive tournament.

2. I will not know the numbers of participants until the Friday before. I have the pre-registrations but the numbers were around 50 and most were from Wayne County.

3. If you have not registered, please do not mail in the registration. Simply take it to weigh-ins.

4. Since the early entry deadline has passed, the cost is $25.00.

I hope this helps.

Coach McCoy

Chirs---If we are planning on weighing @ a remote site do you want the registration faxed to you...please advise.

Thanks

Anyone know who all will be wrestling 171 cadet and Junior? I know Hitchings is.

Everyone Who wants a bunch of matches Here is a hint. Go to the best guys young and old and ask for an exebiton match! Almost every wrestler will take it something about to much pride. Ask guys you even know u will loose to . It is a good way to get experience and see if all your summer training is payin off. Last blue grass games i think i got 9 matches beetween High school university and exebitions

Where's all the heavyweights?

Does anyone know if there is gong to be any good competition at the 140 weight class?
