Thats a great deal of respect for Jacob with a 2 seed over Shanaman- Blair Academy, Pittman - Great Bridge and Kemmerer-PA, it doesnt sound as though Jacob is a sleeper anymore!

Good Luck!

Jac,

Best of luck

Kick their A__

Kentucky is behind you

I've seen Cubberly and Murton wrestle, they wrestle very much alike both are very quick, and technicians should be a very great tourney. Good luck Jacob.

I have had the honor of watching Jacob wrestle on many different occasions and have even wrestled with him in practice. I must say that Jacob is the type of wrestler who really steps it up when the competitions stiffens. Just last year I watched him wrestle Seth Easter of Nitro, WV. Seth Easter, was a state champ at 130 as a freshman, and his older brothers, Matt and Anthony, are 4x and 3x state champs, respectively. Needless to say Seth Easter is a stud. In this match, Murton transformed into a totally different wrestler. If you are impressed by Murton when he wrestles here in our state tournament then you should watch him when he takes on a national calibre opponent. He literally made Easter cry! I believe Murton won by Major Decision.

With that being said I look for Murton to have a great tournament. This is considered the toughest tournament in the country by many (neck and neck with the Ironman, but with 80+ teams). I am sure he will have several tough matches, but I look for him to have a good showing.

eville dad,

Murton was one of the top dogs because of the seeding format. If you are a SC from say OH, PA, IL CA you will get 90 points, From IN, CO etc. you get 80, and KY TN WV and most other southern states you will receive 70 points. Also, you get x amount of points for district and region champion and so many points per win and deductions for losses. I know I am not 100% on this but it's close. I think this format is about 80% accurate from tourney's past.

I saw a criteria for the Beast on another site and it was similar to what you describe. But I was unaware that Jacob had been to enough major tournaments to get a higher seed than some of the other big names in the weight class. Hes seeded higher than some kids from the big name schools, Shanaman, Blair Academy, Pittman - Great Bridge, Kammerer from PA. those guys get a lot of press. But then again I really dont know that much about him just what hes done in high school and over the past summer out in Fargo. I have always been impressed with him on and off the mat and I think hes as good as those kids and will do well with or without a high seed.

He would seed high based on the criteria you described because of his state championships. I think they also take in to account other tournaments placements, Walsh Iron Man, I guess Fargo could have been considered too!

Good Luck Jacob!
