Recruiting

How are people recruiting this year and is it working?

I work morning duty in the gym. All the middle schoolers at Moore gather in the gym and then are released to class at 7:30. I have a projection screen on the stage. I hook my laptop up to a projector and play it during that whole time. The kids can see it from siting in the bleachers. Just started doing it last week but I'll let you know how it works.

I've had a few kids who have told me they do Jiu-Jitsu and want to be UFC fighters. I basically tell them that they are silly if they don't join the wrestling team. Wrestling is the best skill for MMA.

well at caldwell every year the primary school has a day where they have a couple of kids from each sport and show the kids how to play a sport and show them some fundamentals and our wrestling team brings mats down there n shows them some moves and gets them interested at a young age so they can participate in the season for the little kids that we have so they can wrestle for the varsity team when they get in 7 th grade and they know the basics of the sport.

At our school we just go up to lighter kids on the football team and tell them they should try to wrestle, i got 4 kids that are gonna try wrestling, just from the football team.

i agree with indyman...if you have a local pee wee football league, try to get some coaches' kids involved in wrestling at your school.  they can usually influence their best athletes to go out for wrestling.  another benefit with those kids is they are used to contact sports and are usually aggressive.

I usually talk to all the freshman in my PE classes.
