119    Zarth     (Mat wrestler again?)

125    Voth      (Mat wrestler?)

130    Perez

135    Warner

140    Peace

145    Courtney

152    Ervin

160    Wolsiefer

171    Reid

189    Starks

215    Nickle   (10 lbs)

Hwt   Byrd (But we shouldn't count these guys.)

no, martin was cutting 5 pounds at best, he just grew over the summer

I know this much, I saw Warner in June and he was already up to 165.  I almost didn't recognize him, he looked pretty solid, said he'd been in the weight room.  I also saw Morlatt he looks like a beast, I'd say somewhere in the 150's, but said he'll get down to 135 maybe 130.

I don't know if i'd call this his natural weight, but before last year's state tournament at the BGSG, I seen Starks there and he had to have been 210 or so.

Is this really true that Martin dropped 15-20 lbs?  That's a lot for a guy that small.

Alot of weight for a little guy...That is the way it used to be. I was in shape as a sophomore weighing 120 before season and I dropped to 103. Senior year I weighed 147 after a full soccer season and I ended up wrestling 125. Everybody cut weight that wanted to compete at a high level, unless they were just a beast at an upper weight.... :-D

cutting weight isn't that hard as long as you have a routine in doing so.

I would go from 105 or 103 to around 122 in the same day but i'd work off alot it was not difficult.

I was no state champ.

Tyler Voth hardly cut at all last season. He was never over 130.

Maybe cutting 30 lbs last year had an impact on you not being a state champ.

Lifting and dieting is the best

That isnt even 20 pounds. Thirty would have had him in the single digits. It is not safe to lose it all at once. A routine is nice. Lifting and dieting is great, but the running you do after the practice is over can push that extra mile as far as endurance....

Thats what some of us did last year. Me and our 103 mostly but after practice we went up to the third floor and ran laps. We would lose a pound, pound and a half more than we did weighing in after practice. Definently increases youre endurance, even if your running at a slow jog.

true it is not 30 lbs, that was an exaggeration...but he stated he gained back 17-19 lbs in 1 day.  i'd say 30 lbs in a season was probably a pretty good guess.  i just think stuff like that gives the sport a bad name.  it's hard enough to convince my son that cutting too much weight is bad...then he sees on the message boards people talking about dropping & gaining weight, and that just completely convinces him he's got to cut weight to be a state champ.  i really, really hope there isn't state champs out there cutting more than 20 lbs.

i have a pretty good idea who true pioneer is, and if i'm right, he cut too much weight last year and i hope he knows it.
