Weakest weight class so far?

Topic ID: 273 | 18 Posts

Looking at the rankings i think 135 is a pretty week weight class. What does everyone else think?

135 112 and heavy in my oppinion only have 2-3 domminant westlers.

112 isnt weak it just has alot of NEW wrestlers in the weight class such as Cody Van Zant from wayne...Ive heard hes tough competition. 112 may not be as tough as it was last year but it will still be tough...

I say 135 is not weak, it looks as if Murton is going to be at 135, Howard and I see a few others by the 15th, I dont believe all those wrestlers at 145 are going to stay there, but all will dodge Murton.

WATCH THIS! I think Murton will go 135 in order to qualify for Senior Nationals. He has to wrestle in a state tournament (individual or duals) at the weight class he wants to wrestle Senior Nationals at. Since Lawrence Co. won't be at the duals, that only leaves one other state tourney to qualify at. Now let's watch everyone run to or stay at 140. Be anxious to see who's at 35 at the end of the year and who all drops from 45 to 40. I If I end up being wrong you all have my permission to razz me all you want!

If Murton drops to 35 i know some people who might be quite upset because they wanted to wrestle him and cant go any lower than 140.

But yes 135 is terribly weak this year.

Looks like 135 may be the weakest and when Murton gets there others may leave the wt. class.

Didn't Ashbrook defeat Howard last week? Looks like Harrison Co. might be moving up the polls as a team.

i think now he has made 135 he will be there at tournament time.

I think 160 is shaping up to be a very weak weight class. There are no proven wrestlers in there (other than Walls) who has placed more than once at state. The Hildreth kid rides legs well and the Fyffe kid is decent but absolutely no STUDS in this weight class at all and really the same could be said for 171.

Yes Ashbrook defeated Howard last week at Bourbon Co.

one of the weakest weight classes this year by far is 130. Look at the people ranked, then find out how they did at state last year. There may be a few good people, but you wont see any good competition for them. I expect to see a land slide at state.

I have to agree with this statment Walls is definatley the best wrestler in this weight class. You have Fyffe who placed 5th last year(two of the wins were injury defaults) ranked 1st. If fyffe and walls meet walls will be on top. Their are several kids ranked in the top 3 at 145 and 152 that could win 160.

One important difference for Fyffe this season. He works out in a little place called Versailles, KY. They tend to produce some pretty tough kids.

But I won't completely disagree that it isn't the most proven bunch and the 145 guys could challenge them.

You do have a point here, he has great practice partners and one of the best coaching staffs. But I also think alot of his ranking is based on what school he is attending. Im prolly being a little biased though, i dont like the fact of kids moving to woodford to wrestle for their senior year i think it shows a lack of school spirit, But i could be totally wrong in that thinking his parents may have had a great reason for moving their like a better job or somthing along those lines.

I think the top 3 or 4 guys at 135 are pretty close and i think Howard is a dissappointment because people were talking like he was unstaopable. We all know that someone can be beat on any given day though. I also think Matt Miller from LaRue is going to suprise people he beat #3 Ben Case at the Bruin Duals.

Ashbrook beat Howard 9-2 in the finals at the Bourbon County Tourney, to receive MOW of the tourney.

BlastDoublew35 - Miller is on my radar. I agree. He is looking good.

i think 112 is shaping up to be a pretty cake weight class with not much strong competition

Coty Lewis will walk through state
