The stability in the Fairdale coaching staff and subsequent late hirings each year are the reasons I see for this tournament dropping off in stature.  Not that we are a top tier team, but for example, Doss wanted to come to the KOB, but in early October, Fairdale still did not have a coach.  Since we couldn't reach a coach to see if they were still planning of having the KOB, we tried to contact the AD.  After several failed attempts we settled on going to the Lonesome at Seneca.  I only say "settled" due to a lack of better words.  Seneca puts on a good tournament every year.  You have seen schools such as Trinity & Evansville Reitz drop out of the KOB this year and others will follow in years to come if the coaches start to feel this tournament is in jeopardy of not being held.  It is still a very competitive tournament, but teams simply don't want to be left out in the cold without tournaments on Saturdays so they seem to attend the ones they know will definitely be held the following year.  Case in point is the Mustang Classic at North Oldham.  This tournament seems to get better every year as Coach Fulk and his staff put on an excellent tournament.  It is always held the 1st weekend in February and the coaches can depend on that happening year in and year out.

I was in the area and stopped in for a few hours.  between about 11-2

My comments on the KOB

1.  I heard they were extremely late getting started.

2.  Even though they were late getting started the tourney finished on schedule.

3.  For the hype of the tourney it did not live up to the billing,  Woodford still is not fielding all their top wrestlers for whatever reason.  North and Central Hardin looked good but that was all.

4.  The competition level was not that high for this tournament.

5.  Mr. Shaw continues to be as arrogant as ever while officiating.

The two Nky teams (who I went to see)(Holmes & Scott) were not very impressive.

  I believe (NH) pinned him in the 3rd period.  (Holmes) Mark Jones almost took (NH) Jones down a couple of times. Not to shabby for a kid that just started this year.

Not sure how any of these guys finished I left before the consolation semi's.
