Region 1 Rankings 2/3/25
Topic ID: 29259 | 30 Posts
This is a first draft with the info I have. I'll update a couple times a week. Message me to tell me what I've missed. Coaches, put your matches in track.
We need more head to head with Region 1. The top 2 have only wrestled in 1 weight that I see. Top 3 in 0.
The 3rd and 4th spots in a lot of classes are up for grabs. Going to be some great battles at regionals!

Never heard of her
I’m happy to see Carter Thomas is getting some recognition. It looks like he has to wrestle highly ranked out of state wrestlers week in and week out as a 9th grader, I think his technique will take him far at state. Is Jenkins staying at 150? Does he have a better shot of winning state at 150 vs Johns from Woodford than staying at 144? Jenkins looks like a man among boys.

Both weights are stacked. 132-150 is loaded in Ky

150 loaded?? I disagree. Johns and Jenkins then the field

132 is weak other than raney and mccloskey
I mean considering the kids in the weights from 132-150. There are 5 nationally ranked or honorable mention kids between these weights. Sports illustrated has Jordyn Raney, Jayden Raney, Issac Johns, TJ Myers and George Dennis all ranked or honorable mention.

Who are the other guys that make it stacked? You mentioned 5 wrestlers amongst 4 weight classes. 44 could be the deepest
144 is definitely the deepest. That’s the first time I’ve known of Ky having that many guys ranked so close to each other. Makes it hard to go up or down without running into a national level kid. Tj meyers might be the best to never win a state championship. But I look at 150 and thought it was empty a few weeks ago now you have Isaac and Jenkins at the top. But Gonzales just beat Roberts from Boyle who wrestled close matches with Jenkins, Keyson White, and TJ Meyer. All 2-3 point matches. Add in Smith who’s a 3 time state placer and Knight 150 looks competitive. At 138 White just beat Morris who’s a 4 time state placer. 138 also has Evans a state champ and of course Raney. I think these weights are really good right now.

Your right. Was it an escape and a take down?

Knight defeated Gonzalez at ryle beginning of the year. I agree these weights look solid

That doesn’t mean those weight classes are loaded, that just means there is a stud or two at that weight. Two of those four are pretty much a one horse race, and that’s nothing against the other two kids in those classes as they are studs as well it just so happens they have highly nationally ranked kids in a weight class. Tells you KY is getting better though. Imagine being from CA. or PA and being ranked number 2 in the country and number 2 in your state because the number 1in the country is in your state and weight class
I'm hearing Mooney is out for the rest of the season. Hate to see it for his senior year. Is it true?
