Rebel Rankings #2005-3

Topic ID: 312 | 26 Posts

A very exciting week in the world of KY wrestling. The WCI lived up to the hype (as usual) with a number of matchups between highly ranked wrestlers:

103 #3 vs #4

112 #1 vs #3

119 #2 vs #3

125 #1 vs #3

140 #1 vs #2

171 #1 vs #2

189 #1 vs #2

215 #1 vs #2

Not to mention 3 of the top 4 teams in the state!

All of that said, not much changed at the top of the charts (excluding Murton changing weights and Byrd getting healthy) except at 125. I have included the records of those wrestlers who were in the finals at WCI (as they were announced). I have also extended the list to the top 17 at each weight. Next week I will hopefully have 20 guys at each weight that I am comfortable with ranking. Please continue to provide feedback as the more guys I include on the list the greater chance I will miss a dual result that could affect the order. ENJOY!!!

good job by puttin other on the rankings. But you have so new kids on the rankings that are above some that was already ranke. Are these new kids good or was it a mistake ?

There are always others on the list, but I have limited it to a certain number each week. For example, I have 25 guys on my list at 112, but only 18 at 130. But to limit the variation from week to week I want to wait and see more results before I expand to more and more. I am also collecting roster information on all teams (I currently have a decent roster for about 53 teams) so I could theoretically rank every team at every weight. But there are two good reasons not to do it. First, that would take a lot more time to get it right. Second, I don't think it would benefit anyone to show that John Doe who wrestles for Team X is the worst wrestler in the state at 125. He probably knows that he stinks and doesn't need to see it on here.

To finally answer your question, yes, the newly ranked guys are there for a reason.

keep up the good work on the rankings 8)

What ever happened to Matt Slone from SC? Have we gone over that already?

Very nice rankings, they look good. But I have just a few corrections and suggestions... Clint Hovecamp is now up to 160, he wrestled last night against conner at 160 but had a forefit, and TJ Bates from Conner only lost to Casey Chitwood like 5-3 or something so I'd move him a little more up, closer to Chitwood.

Why has Hovecamp went to 160? Does this mean Aylor is at 140 now?

So many questions, so little time.

Billy Fuller from Campbell Co is actually at 215 ... and should be ranked there. He wrestled up a couple times at heavy in duel situations because he's got really good strength (sophomore kid, 300+ lb bench) and can hack it when he has to. He hasn't beaten anyone ranked yet, but he went to war with Aubrey at Wayne County. This is only his second year wrestling and is a sophomore. He's far ahead of several Campbell Co sophomores from the past i've seen go on to place very high at state in their junior and senior years. Give him two more years with Bankemper, coupled with the kid's outrageous desire to do well, and see what he does.

I talked about him as possibly being a surprise this year over the summer. No, he's too inexperienced to have anything for Stone at regionals (region 6). He could slip in and place 7th or 8th at end of year ... maybe ... but if he doesn't he's still gonna be a force his Junior and Senior year.

What ever happened to Matt Slone from SC? Have we gone over that already?

Matt Slone stayed back in middle school so can not wrestle high school

Crayton McCain has beaten both Fuller of Seneca and Ashley of Southern.

Why has Hovecamp went to 160? Does this mean Aylor is at 140 now?

So many questions' date=' so little time.[/quote']

Hovecamp was sick of cutting weight, so I heard. Aylor may drop, I havent heard he is or anything like that.

aylor won the big ohio tournament (40 schools+) at 145. josh cooper finished 4th in the same tourney and same weight class. very good for both of them considering there were more than 5 ohio state placers in their brackets. the results if it helps are at the gmvwa website. also austin cooper won 152 in the same tourney. aylor and austin cooper were only the 3rd and 4th kentucky kids to win this tourney. 1st was craig cooper (2001) and the second was kyle ruschell (2004).

brandon howard won agie skeens tourny in grundy va-@ 135-- also had ryan kelly 2nd @ 171, and justin chaffin @ 215 does/would that play a role???

I think that (fair robby brown) should not be ranked I did beter then hin at king of the bluegrass and im not ranked

taylor casson pinned ben greco today at the conner inv.

greco was winning in the match and he just made a mistake and got caught....it wont be the same if they wrestle again

casson wasnt even wrestling good. it was a clean fair win.

man i am PUMPED to see the new rankings.

Casson wrestled a great match and it didnt look to me as if he had been caught. (He escaped, took Greco down and got the pin)I think it would have been a close match either way. Casson had just gotten over the stomach flu and it was his first time on the mat in over a week, and he was on his game and feeling much better.

160 through hwt is murderers row for woodford county. they win all the time. all but two have never lost.

Even though I am a Woodford fan and help out every time I am in town, I would put Travis Sullivan at the top at 103, unless he has been upset. Also, until Byrd and Goodrich knock off Scherer and Clark I would have to put them both at #2. I like everything else though.

No offense to Wolsiefer, but Austin Cooper owns 152 this year.

has wolseifer & cooper wrestled this year? i heard cooper is really strong this year at 152....but i know johnny has wrestled all over the country and done great....i can't WAIT to see them wrestle down state...hopefully in the finals.

No matter what its a match to see !
