I wanna know what people think are the best upsets this year or who really stepped up and gave a much higher ranked guy a close fight.  Team upsets.

I would like to see Smith upset in the semifinals at state.

This weekend at South Oldham Nathan Gray pinned Jordan Whiting.

Let's face it. Whiting is strong and fit and looks impressive walking onto a mat, but he just isn't that good of a wrestler.

It's not that Jordan Whiting isn't a good wrestler he a a awesome wrestler, he just is giving up 70lbs. when he  wrestles someone. I know cause I used to give up 70lbs. every time I walked on the mat back in the day. But I was strong enough to hang with all them guys thats how I won and thats how Jordan wins.

Sorry -- I really wasn't intending to be ugly. I just dislike seeing guys who aren't in nearly as good a shape as Whiting beat him. I enjoy seeing true athletes at heavyweight instead of guys who are just fat and so big they hold their opponent down with sheer weight. Years ago Conner had a heavyweight who was an impressive athlete. He was like Paul Bunyan or something -- just a huge guy. It's more fun to watch guys like that or Whiting than a couple of guys who look like Sumo wrestlers. So I guess Whiting has disappointed me, that's all.

That was a great match Saturday. Ty got caught, and he couldn't do anything. I'm still wondering why the ref didn't give him the three points, but it's over and done with now.

No he lost to Jordan Tennyson from Central in the quarterfinals then beat him in conso finals for 3rd.

Michael Osborne lost to Travis Sullivan 2-0 at state duals.

i watched the osbourne sullivan match is was a really good one it looked like sullivan was stalling a lot at the end osbourne kept shooting in and sullivan kept backing up, but all it all a smart a good match by both of them

I would love to wrestle that match again.. And danger, I would love to mop the mat wit you once again.. Maybe even the gym floor.. But I'll let you decide

Infact, if they do wrestle again at state I woud expect another 1-2 point decision either way. And every match I have seen of Ty's that stays close he ends up self destructing.

So based on all of that here are the only conclusions I can come up with:

1) Wempe has the edge (no losses to KY kids) and has beat Voth and Bontrager

2) Voth only lost to Wempe, but beat virtually everyone else

3) Zeppa only lost to Voth, but beat everyone else

I think those guys are a half a step ahead of the field right now, but there are about half a dozen other guys who could easily get hot and win the title.

so Bontrager beat Wempe at Regions but Jake's still in good shape with a quarter final match with parks/evans and not with voth/zeppa/vinsant/murphy

Bontrager has to be a favorite here.He pretty much dominated Wempe @ regions.

Yea bontrager had wempe in a cradle pretty quick into the match and wempe couldnt get enough points to get back into the match... bontrager wrestled well defensively for the rest of the match, good win for him, hope to see these two region 1 wrestlers in the finals saturday night

5 points is a deep hole to dig out of against a good wrestler like Bontrager. It was a very exciting match to watch.

The best upset by far goes to spencer doing the unthinkable upseting sullivan thats just unthinkable but i was sitting not far away the refs tried to determin the match tho giving him all the calls i thought spencer jumped callsing sullivan to move but its past. but my favorite upset was by far deinlein from campbell beating coty lewis from woodford it was unreal he would have pinned him if there was 2 more seconds o the clock and great latoral deinlein it was amazing

Zach Pearson, an unranked heavyweight or very low at the time beating a high ranked Houston Croney early in the season. One of his best matches all year....I liked watching Wempe beat Bontrager at state, I LOVED watching Miller get beat up by the Eastern Kid, what an athlete....just a few that come to mind

No, I think he did just as he should have.  He took the "low" ranking as a challenge and stepped up to the challenge.

I remember what match snoot got the shaft in.. it was all part of a bad day for union, he still came back and placed 4th which is all that matters.. refs tried to screw union every way possible at some point, just a certain few
