Northern Kentucky tournaments

Why is it that Norhtern Kentucky does not have many tournaments throughout the year?

It has been argued that Region 6 is historically one of the toughest regions in the state. However they do not hold wreslting tournaments.

The only tournaments that I know of are the NKAC (Which rotates around the schools), and the Couger Inv.

I know that Ryle hs held the Raider Rumble.

Campbell, Simon, Scott, Dixie, Holmes. Do not hold tourneys.

SK has a tournament that is coming up this weekend and Dixie holds one in early Feb.

who will be at the SK tourney this weekend?

Holmes held a duals tourney the first weekend of the season.

that's a good question, unfortunately i don't think there's a blanket answer other than overall lack of support for the sport in n. ky, which is probably no different than most of the state.

back in "the day"....scott, sk, conner, dixie, cc all held tournaments.

I would think that Campbell Co. would hold a big tourney. They should be able to draw teams from Ohio, Indiana, and Lex./Lou. area.

Being so close to Ohio and with the recognition they have in Ohio they should be able to get some of the better teams to attend.

Could you imagine having Moeller (OH), Harrison (OH), Fairfield (OH), Campbell Co., Ryle, Simon Kenton, Woodford Co. all in the same tourney.

These along with some of the smaller schools in the area (any of the NKY schools, some of the smaller Ohio schools, Lawrenceburg Ind. S. Dearborn IN.

Moeller would never come, otherwise beatings would be delivered. But, you might get Harrison OH and/or Fairfield to show. Campbell Co never wrestles Moeller except last year at Madeira, and that was Moeller's JV (knowing them, probably second team jv).

Harrison OH would win that tournament ... yes ... that includes Woodford too. Although they might be competitive with them, not real sure. Milford beat Campbell 52-3 in a duel this year, and Harrison ended up beating Milford by like 20 something. They have a 112 (although he just dropped to 103) and a 125 that would beat Lewis and Parks. Their 130 would probably win state too ... and they only drop off a little, that is their "role players" would be reasonably successful at state.

Campbell wrestled Moeller in the 90's. I think the years they won state.

I'm not saying that these teams would come the 1st year, but Campbell could pull eventually some of these teams. If they were able to get some of the better teams from the Tri-state area. Eventually the better teams would come in 5-7 years.

My point is that Campbell has been going to Ohio since the 80's as have Simon Kenton, and Ryle started going almost as soon as they started a team. Each of these teams have earned some respect across the river. If Campbell would have tried to start this tourney in the 80's. By this time they may have been able to attract teams like Moeller, Harrison

I agree with everything but Moeller ... but eventually you might get them to come. Campbell hung with Harrison reasonably well the past two years, but this year is a rebuilding year.

I am a huge Campbell Co fan, go to most of their meets. It was AWESOME seeing them win Fairfield two years ago, the year they dominated state and state duals that is, it was the first time they ever did. They didn't even win it with those back to back state champ teams in the early 90's.

Even now if it was a big tournament you might have a chance at drawing Harrison or Fairfield.
