The Wrestler's Pushup

------------------------------------

Every wrestler does pushups.

Whether it be at the beginning of practice, the end of

practice, or during a separate team workout, you can

count on wrestlers doing tons of pushups.

Why?

Because pushups are an excellent exercise for the primary

movers: the pectorals (chest), deltoids (shoulders) and

triceps (back of upper arm).

The upper, middle and lower back act as stabilizers.

The abdominals are worked as well.

Overall it's a pretty good exercise...

But if you want high-performance wrestling, I urge you

to try working more muscles, such as the internal obliques

while doing your pushups.

The internal obliques are one of the most important muscles

you can develop if you want to wrestle faster and with more

power.

If you want to develop the internal obliques, plus many of

the other 'key' wrestling muscles, and don't have access

to great equipment, try the 'Pushup With Rotation' exercise:
