Here is a summary (I took it off of another site) of the proposed changes if you do not want to read through all the material on the link:

1. The random draw shall take place immediately before or after weigh-ins.

(Currently the random draw can happen only immediately after weigh-ins.)

2. A school may be represented by a second competitor in the 135, 140, 145, and 152 pound weight classes.

(Currently only one wrestler per weight class is allowed per school.)

3. No wrestler shall represent the school in more than one weight class in any meet or compete in more than five matches, including forfeits in any one day of any dual meet tournament. In individual tournament competition, the five match limit is waived and a 30 minute total time (excluding overtime) will be used to determine eligibility to continue to compete in the tournament. If a competitor enters a bout and time would run out (30 minute total) the competitor will be allowed to finish that bout.

(Currently the 5-match rule is in place for dual tournaments and individual tournaments. The 30 minute rule is not in place.)

4. [For duals] Coaches will be allowed to place two chairs in a restricted area at the corner of the mat.

(Currently all of a school's chairs are together during a dual, including the coaches' chairs.)

5. During tournament competition, a minimum of one adult school representative and a maximum of two team personnel (Coaches and/or non-participating contestants) will be permitted on chairs at the edge of the mat.

(Currently there is no minimum.)

6. It is permissible to allow coaches on the corner of the mat in a restricted zone. This line shall be painted or taped on the mat at the appropriate locations.

(Currently there are no painted or taped markers for the coaching zone.)

7. If no tights are worn, a suitable undergarment shall be worn.

(Currently the rule that a suitable undergarment is required when tights are not worn is not in the rulebook.)

8. A female wearing a male singlet must wear a tight-fitting, short sleeved undershirt under the singlet of single, solid color unadorned with no more than one manufacturer

18. Weight Classes shall be in competition for boys: 106, 115, 124, 131, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 180, 190, 215, 255, 295.

I'm not sure I like these new weight classes.  Half the teams have a hard time filling one hwt much less two.  Your taking away a spot for a smaller guy and creating another forfeit. IMHO  :?

I have always thought they needed something between 215 and 285.  Its not to great for someone who weighs 230 and cant make 215.  There is a 70 pound difference in the 215 to 285 weight class while the next closest is 189-215 at 26 pounds.  Just seems to be, to big of a leap to me.

Prop 39: I like the 3 point takedown in the 10 ft circle.

Prop 51: I think the 2 points for the first takedown and then the 3 points for each additional is bull. Scrap this one and go with the 3 points in the center.

I think a 1 point pushout rule should be in place to also keep the action in the center. This along with the 3 points for the center takedown would create some aggressive wrestling matches with lots of action and takedown attempts in the center as well as a few more throws when wrestlers are trying to score via the pushout.

Prop 52: The 7 points for a fall is good. This would have helped us out this past year. We lost 3 duals due to tiebreaker. We had more falls in all of those duals.

Prop 21: The weigh-in at the conclusion of the first day during a two or more day tournament is also a great idea.

I don't like the 7 point pin.  If you have someone on your team that you are certain is going to get pinned then the team would then forfeit to save a team point. Many of the great wrestlers would get more forfeits.

I agree these new weight classes are dumb this leaves out the smaller guys and the lower weights will cut more 106 to 115 and 115 to 124 is a big gap

Did anyone notice the HWT max?  295.  I'm not sure I would ever go that high.  Any high school kid close to 300 is a health risk.  The human body is not made for that kind of wt. unless you are close to 7 feet tall.

The few individuals that are that tall are probably not wrestling. 

I don't know.  I have had a couple of heavys that could have tipped the scale at 295.  I have a sophomore to be now that is about 6'1" and about 275 in pretty good shape.  It would give some of my guys some breathing room to get bigger and stronger for football.

Yeah, a 10 lb gap is much bigger at 115-124 than it is at 189 and 215...I guess...I haven't been 115 since 3rd grade 

I like how the lower weight classes are setup actually.  They could maybe make 106 go up to 108, and I think it would be perfect then.  I don't like how they have eliminated a weight class in the middle, and added 2 extra weight classes in the bigger guys.  That's way wrong there.  Perhaps they are trying to lure more h.s. football players, but if there was a 295 lbs weight class last year, would we even have had 32 kids in the entire state above 255?  What a weak weight class that would have been.  Bailey was tough, but a lot of the other hwts that placed were well under 255.  (Fuller, Whiting, most others that I seen at state)

Here's my proposed weight classes:

108, 115, 124, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 170, 185, 200, 225, 275

Like grappler of old pointed out, not many healthy, "fit for wrestling" kids are above 275 in h.s.  I'm not saying there aren't "any", but not enough to justify a weight class there.  I just can't see a justification for having 5 weight classes above 170 and only 6 weight classes between 124-160, where the majority of your h.s. aged kids are going to fall.

I have made this proposal many times for wt. class changes. The wt. classes I thought of were.

103, 112, 119, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 171, 185, 200, 230, 285

I think you need to keep an equal amount

little wt classes (3) 103, 112, 119 (Underclassman classes/1st year varsity classes)

light classes (3)126,132,138, (Experinced small kids)

Average wt. class (4)145, 152, 160, 171 (Average high school kid)

heavy classes (4) 185, 200, 230, 285. (Upper classman/football classes)

It doesn't say but I was assuming that a forfeit would be 7 points as well.

Up here in Minnesota the Coaches association wanted to drop to 12-13 weights and the MN State HS Association was going to vote to drop to 13 but then backed out at the last minute.  But they were looking at dropping 103 and starting at 108 I believe.  I guess I would like to see the NFHS drop to 13, just because there are alot of forfeits, but am not in favor of dropping a lower weight and keeping the heavier weights.  I would like to see 103, 110, 117, 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197, 285 or something like that.  JMO

I like these weight classes you suggest except for the last 2.  197-285 is just to big of a gap to me.  I am sure that a lot of teams would lose guys weighing around the 210-230 range that could not make the cut, and does not want to wrestle heavy.

From what I have researched these are national federation proposals.

From what I understand, the main issue is weight classes. I am not sure if there is much behind the others.

umm im pretty sure that if a team is tied at the end of a dual then who ever has the most pins wins

If the inside 10ft. circle is put into effect along with the 1st takedown worth 2 all following worth 3, then the wrestlers would just be in the center for the 1st takedown.  Also if a 3-pointmatch is coming to an end then the wrestler who is winning will make sure to STAY AWAY from the inner circle.
