Dont get your hopes on the courtney vs ervin matchup...would be a heck of a match but it just wont happen...last year was the closest it got to happenin

personally i think ervin look light and will wrestle 145 again..

which ranked wrestler will see hitchings the most in the regular season before state and sum up who will meet him in the finals

i don't think terry will be in the finals. he didn't look that impressive the last time i saw him. but who knows.

I agree. I have watched him wrestle and to me it looked as though he would stall to keep matches close and was able to do this against better wrestlers.

celab would have a close match with murphy or norbury

and courtney and ervin would just be another pin in the final for harrison

You think harrison courtney would pin issac ervin .... I DONT THINK SO

You think harrison courtney would pin issac ervin .... I DONT THINK SO

I would say theres a possibility.  I dont think it would happen personally but in theory, Sanders beat Ervin, Courtney pinned Sanders.  Does this mean Courtney craps on Ervin.  I say if this match happens, which it probably wont (Ervin 145, Courtney 152)  Courtney wins 10-3.

The Sanders and Ervin match was rather close if i can recall(which i believe Ervin should have won)

celab would have a close match with murphy or norbury

and courtney and ervin would just be another pin in the final for harrison

Caleb would easily handle those two IMO.Isaac would give Courtney a battle, also IMO.

norbury is one scrappy dude.  i'd think caleb would win, but it would be closer than you may think.

Steven is my boy. He never got the credit he deserved. He showed he was a stud when it counted

I heard Whiting wasn't wrestling his senior year. Is he?

norbury is one scrappy dude.  i'd think caleb would win, but it would be closer than you may think.

What is your deal w/ Dakota Choate? This is the second post you've made today about him. Everyone knows he isn't wrestling, leave it/him alone, please.

News flash!!!  This is wrestling not judo.

That is why I said it isn't saying much, his throws are very good. But he thinks his shots are godly and they aren't. That is why I am not like predicting a state placing for him. Just a decent showing at State

Jesus is going to win at 103

a 11-2 MDEC over Fahey

lol that's funny and some wat true but any thing can happen

I think that Justin Davis being out til regions is really going to affect his chances at winning it all.  I am not putting it past him, but with Shotwell being there now it is going to be real tough.

lol that's funny and some wat true but any thing can happen

HWT is just on of those weight classes that anything could happen at any time. But yeah that was pretty funny.

HWT is just one of those weight classes that anything could happen at any time. But yeah that was pretty funny.

On that note I think it will be the kid from McCreay Central.

luna from eastern isnt wrestling this year and Davis is hungry to come back but yea he is out til region and that probably will be a big difference in training and condition

Do not count out Zac Brown at 112, Kasey Hedge's at 125 he's a very good wrestler and has proven alot this season by beating Travis K. from Woodford at Regional Duals, and beating Caleb Schneider at the TCI 125 Finals for 1st place. Also Dan Griggs at 189 is a very good solid wrestler that is looking forward to wrestling in state and going to the finals. And possibly Nathan Gray just depends on if he can get back on track, if not a finalist top 5.

there are goin to be some upsets this year so anything could happen

right now nathan won't even place. He does not have the willingness to work in practice or the endurance to last more than 30 sec in a match

then someone needs to push him

its hard to push someone that doesnt care.

thats true if he doesnt care enough his senior year the i dont know wat will drive him

People like that should'nt even wrestle.

I am the 189 and I try to wrestle with him everyday. It frustrates me when I am trying to work hard and push him and he won't even try.

make him try just start beating on him everyday and mabe he might start to try

Well yah know what they say... "can't beat a dead horse."

Well yah know what they say... "can't beat a dead horse."

haha

103- Fahy vs. Bracco

is harrison courtney dropping to 152 or what?

Courtney is staying at 160!

103- Fahy vs. Bracco

bracco looked good at wci.

Jordan Blakemore Sou vs. Brad Hitchings Trin

is justin davis still for sure going 140 after being injured that long?

is justin davis still for sure going 140 after being injured that long?

yes

Jordan Blakemore Sou vs. Brad Hitchings Trin

not going to happen.

not going to happen.

why isnt it going to happen

because Blakemore won't make the finals

because Blakemore won't make the finals

whos going to beat him.

Shotwell vs. Davis. i see shotwell winning this by a close one Maybe a point or two, ive seen them both wrestle. There both very good.

whos going to beat him.

I think a number of people could beat him such as Will Hogben, Marcell Haynes, and Jordan Woolen. The only outside chance of Blakemore making the finals is if he gets a very lucky draw AND has a very lucky weekend.

Do not count out Zac Brown at 112, Kasey Hedge's at 125 he's a very good wrestler and has proven alot this season by beating Travis K. from Woodford at Regional Duals, and beating Caleb Schneider at the TCI 125 Finals for 1st place. Only thing about Kasey's win against Travis, is the fact that Travis pinned himself. Not sure of the score when that happened

i think that osborne will beat Zarth this year.

Zarth vs. Supe

that will never happen what ever happened to osborne and travis k. beat Supe at Wci i don't think that will be possible it will be.

Osborne Vs. Zarth

Zarth vs. Supe

that will never happen what ever happened to osborne and travis k. beat Supe at Wci i don't think that will be possible it will be.

Osborne Vs. Zarth

Ya i agree. Supe is a very good wrestler, just not on there level.

i still feel that State Zarth is on another level then anyone at his weight

i still feel that State Zarth is on another level then anyone at his weight

Even the one that beat him?

Even the one that beat him?

it seems to go that way year after year.

it seems to go that way year after year.

i agree especially his sophmore year. everyone seemed so close during the season. then during state no one scored a single point on him without him letting them. isnt that how it went?

whos going to beat him.

IMO

I would say that there are a number of people who can and will beat Blakemore this year. He's not really the dominant type, which you usually have to be to make the finals. I would say he wouldn't beat any of the 6 ranked above him, i dont think he even comes close to any of them, and i think that a lot of the kids ranked under him would beat him. He wont win his region, giving him a 2nd place, which would throw at him some very good 3rd placers from another region. You also have to think of all the kids that are going to step up from good schools like Lenz did last year. Theres the kid from Woodford, who is likely practicing with Courtney every day, Lofton Wright and Josh Bell are some sleepers also.

i still feel that State Zarth is on another level then anyone at his weight

i agree, he is on a whole other level than anyone he wrestles.

i agree, he is on a whole other level than anyone he wrestles.

I dont see how he is on a whole other level than anyone he wrestles. Has 119 fallen off that much that there are only two good kids in the whole state? Also, how is he "on a whole other level than anyone he wrestles" if he isn't even ranked first in the state?

Harrison Courtney is on a whole other level, John Wolsiefer was on a whole other level, Livingston Merritt was on a whole other level, Joe Carr Jr. was on a whole other level. Matt Zarth is not on a whole other level.

By the way go back and look, im one of the people who were arguing that Zarth will pull it out at state and win it. This hasn't changed at all. I just think its dumb to say that Zarth is on a whole other level when he isn't even ranked first in the state.

Have you ever seen Zarth wrestle at state?

I have to agree everyone can be beat and Zarth has lost a couple of matches in the regular season, but it seems as if he turns it up a notch above the other wrestlers when it comes to state, he has beat some pretty good wrestlers in the past two years at state, so until someone knocks him off in the state tournament he has to be the one to beat at 119 even if he's not ranked #1.

I agree. Zarth might be the best in the state at peaking at the right time. He is always at his best in February and Matt Zarth at his best is better than anyone else at that weight. His sophomore year he allowed 2 points in 5 matches at state. Those points came on a last second reversal by Josh Johnson in the semis, but Matt still won 7-2. He then went on to major Chiu in the Final 9-0. Last year, Zarth controlled every match from start to finish, including wins over Elliot Martin and Ethan Miller. Martin beat Zarth by decision at the WCI final and Miller defeated Zarth in the regional final. These are all persuasive facts in support of the argument that Zarth is on a whole different level from his competition. We'll see if anyone can give him a run, but as of now I doubt it will happen.

I'd like to add that both Kasey Hedges and Dan Griggs from Tates Creek have impressed me this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the finals this year. That's not a prediction, just an opinion.

i think zarth in his sophomore year beat parks 12-2 in region finals and then at state he had dominating wins over wood and chui and i guess josh johnson (i didnt know that one) and then last year he had some losses to higher ranked wrestlers and then at state he handled everyone again. both years before state he looked to be evenly matched on a state level and both years at state he looked levels above his competition.

He only lost to Elliot Martin and Ethan Miller last year i thought. I mean I wouldn't call that have a down season before state. Both are very tough wrestlers, but it's hard to be consistant when facing tough competition every week, especially in his region.

he lost to carr and jon voth and i heard he lost to dc evens but im not sure about that one, and know i wasnt saying he had a down season but he wrestled on the same level as all those guys until state were he was unmatched

he also lost a close match to aaron carr at the tates creek open, and had another one point match that day with demery. then later at regional duals jon voth cut to 119 and just handled him. i think it was like a 6 or 7 point win. to be honest i dont think he lost to elliot. that was what i call a reffed match. he got reffed out of that match, and everyone that saw the match knows it. not taking anything away from elliot, hes a great wrestler, but zarth won that match in my book.

I like Zarth a lot but I thought Martin was the best wrestler last year at 119.  If they, Zarth Miller Martin Carr wrestled a round robin ten times I think he would come out on top half the time.

did martin and zarth go one and one last year? i cant remember if they met at state or not, and does this round robin tournament take place at state? lol cause if so i choose zarth.

he also lost a close match to aaron carr at the tates creek open, and had another one point match that day with demery. then later at regional duals jon voth cut to 119 and just handled him. i think it was like a 6 or 7 point win. to be honest i dont think he lost to elliot. that was what i call a reffed match. he got reffed out of that match, and everyone that saw the match knows it. not taking anything away from elliot, hes a great wrestler, but zarth won that match in my book.

i think zarth bumped to wrestle voth and then at wci voth cut to 119 and zarth beat him in the semis so voth bumped back up to wrestle 125

zarth and martin only wrestled at the wci and in the state semis

are you sure that voth wrestled zarth at the wci? i thought he got beat by someone else. maybe you are right though.

yea cuz miller got beat by martin in the other semis

I will predict Stever Norbury pulls out a state title at 130. He's tough and determined.

Norbury will have a tough time with Caleb Ervin.

I'm so sick of this discussion. Right now Osborne should be ranked at #1. Right now Zarth is not on a whole other level than everyone he wrestles. Come state Zarth will be ranked #1. Come state Zarth will be on a whole other level than everyone else he wrestles. PERIOD. Its that simple. Until then all comments about him being on a whole other level should be witheld, at least until he beats Osborne impressively.

come state Zarth may be more worried about Lenz.  Let's wait and see how things turn out in Frankfort this weekend!  Just a thought. :-)

Come on now.  I like Andy and all, but to say that Zarth will be more worried about him than Osborne, who already has a win on him, seems to be a stretch to me.

besides, lenz will be 112 again by state. at least thats his plan.

Plus Logsdon beat Lenz at region duals and he's been pinned by Zarth twice already (although I still think Zarth and Logsdon will have a close match before this yrs over).

You whine too much.

103  John Fahy (TRIN) vs Robert Bracco (WOOD), Wild Card  TJ Ruschell (RYLE)

That's the first time I've seen TJ Ruschell thrown in as a top contender at 103...

What weight is Matt Neal going? How is he looking? I like Matt, he kinda reminds me of Mike Tyson. Matt could rattle some people down state if he gets in shape and doesn't bite off any ears.

189 or 215 I would like to know myself :?

189 or 215 I would like to know myself :?

Neal is a weight cutter, like most of the SK guys.  For some guys it is just part of wrestling.  I think he ends up at 189.

thx u for the info

I think it would be fantastic if the state brackets were not determined based on random placement of what region you are from and how you finished in the region.  It should be based on real rankings which assess the skills skills and ability of the wrestler.  Then we would really see some real State title matches in the final match under the lights instead of in the quarter or semifinals.  I realize the challenges with this type of approach and have watched the banter over the years so I know it is unrealistic to assume it will ever happen.  But it doesn't hurt to dream.

I agree but your right it will never happen. Could you imagine the seed meeting. Someone would get shot, and two weeks later it still wouldn't be finished. It would be easier to balance the National Budget!!!!!

I'm not going to get into this AGAIN, but I completely disagree.  There would likely be a stabbing or two, but I think it could be handled in a couple hours.  But I always say only seat the region champs and everyone else falls in according to the current draw system.

well then state what you disagree with about 25 then?

I would vote for Ranger to chair the process...let's try it for one year and if it doesn't work, it can't be any worse than it is today.

I hear you.  All I hear is it won't work so we can't even try.  I could even be held at the KHSAA office in Lexington for coaches who want to come in with a conference call option.  That way if coaches get out of line the commissioners can "officiate" or hand out penalties.  Oh well, here I go again.  Dreaming of doing something simple and reasonable that would improve the highlight event of the season.

well then state what you disagree with about 25 then?

Um i'd either throw Palmer or Hedges (if having a good tourney) in their to get pinned by Carr.

I just really don't see Terry or Schnider in there. Either way I believe who ever goes into the finals with Carr will get pinned.

Let's hope Carr will be more prepared at state than his older brother was 2 years ago.

ur probly right about 152 i forgot about him

Sorry to offend you.  Who cares if he is on another level? ANd what does that even mean?

You whine too much.

You criticize to much. Just shut your mouth and read what I type, if you dont have anything informative to write back then please dont reply. You dont like my posts-dont read them. And who are you to tell me that i whine too much? But your opinion means nothing to me, so i will continue to ascess the kentucky wrestling seen as i wish, and you can continue to sit around with no life and try to make kids feel bad about their selves. GROW UP!

noway...well idk i just cant see carr winning after last years state tourny

I dont see either one of these even making it to Carr. If he does make it to the finals.

I think it might be these two

NH  Terrance Demery

Cam Co  Caleb Schneider

Plus Logsdon beat Lenz at region duals and he's been pinned by Zarth twice already (although I still think Zarth and Logsdon will have a close match before this yrs over).

I understand that, but he beat Lenz by 1 late with Lenz spotting him 5 pds.  I am just thinking out loud that if for some reason he doesn't get down to 114 and goes 119(121)  Then he would be thrown in the mix with Zarth and Osbourne.

Um i'd either throw Palmer or Hedges (if having a good tourney) in their to get pinned by Carr.

i put kyle up thier cause im pretty sure he beat palmer in the off season and i think he will do it again, and he looked great agaisnt Demery, if it is him and carr in the finals i doubt he gets pinned

Here is another addition of my predictions later in the season:

103-Fahy vs Goff

112-Warra vs Bradbury (go fairdale, lol)

119-Zarth vs Osbourne

125-Carr vs Schneider

130-Ervin vs Murphy

135-Johnson vs Ervin

140-Shotwell vs Davis

145-Jude vs Brown

152-Ervin vs Jakes

160-Courtney vs Ray

171-Hitchings vs Hogben

189-Houchens vs Bradford

215-Chiba vs Ilg

285-Whiting vs Staten

How do you see Goff getting to the state finals?

ya i agree hes good but bracco has already beat him once

Eat it.

You whine too much.  Also it is assess, not ascess.

I'll give it to him that he's athletic but i dont think he has state-finalist technique.

all this talk about zarth and osborne...Jwann Gartin gonna tear them fools up

Who?

Eat it.

You whine too much.  Also it is assess, not ascess.

your a loser.

your a loser.

Actually it's "you're" a loser, because it's a contraction you and are.  :-D Just a little english lesson.

haha, wow  :-D

I think that Justin Davis being out til regions is really going to affect his chances at winning it all.  I am not putting it past him, but with Shotwell being there now it is going to be real tough.

Old, I agree Shotwell will give Justin a tough match, but don't count him out. He's back and was champion of the Big East and Most Outstanding Wrestler.

I would be surprised if Davis Beats Shotwell. Shotwell is a very good wrestler who always keep's up the pace. I dont see Davis coming close to beating Shotwell.

That's the first time I've seen TJ Ruschell thrown in as a top contender at 103...

TJ did beat Bracco at the Dragon.  So I guess I'm not completly .... (use your own words here).  :|

i heard and after that i can see him having a solid chance of making the finals. its really gonna depend on the random draw i think.

its a fight for 2nd and 3rd. whoever makes it to the finals will get pinned or teched by Fahy. it just depends on who is on the other side of the bracket than fahy.

Chris Corey from perry co. might be able to make some noise at state this year. he finally dropped to 103 and 103 isn't very stacked this year. so it wouldn't surprise me if he placed.

My predictions(a few surprises happen every year):

103: Fahy over Bracco

112: Bradbury over Warra

119: Osbourne over Zarth

125: Demery over Carr

130: Ervin over Norbury

135: Josh Johnson over Josh Moss

140: Davis over Shotwell

145: Ohlmann over Brown

152: Ervin over Jakes

160: Courtney over Ray

171: Hitchings over Hogben

189: Bradford over Neal

215: Chiba over Kelly

285: Whiting over Staten

I think Goff is moving his way up.  He is getting better with every match.  I see him in the top 4 maybe top 2.
