How To Train High School Wrestlers!

I've spent a good deal of time this past year working with Bulgarian and Russian coaching methods for improved wrestling performance in high school wrestlers.  Check out how you can make high school wrestlers even better with the 'new paradigm' of high school wrestling training and conditioning.

High school wrestlers have specific developmental needs that need to be trained while getting stronger.  These 4 sections of training will develop stronger, faster, more flexible high school wrestlers while reducing injuries.  This is the new paradigm of wrestling training... get on board!

As a general rule we want to train the high school wrestler in 4 different ways in order to build the complete wrestling athlete.  This in turn makes high school wrestlers even faster, stronger and more flexible.  This is new to the amateur wrestling world in many regards... and I'm proud to be a big proponent.  I won't get into the scientific details today... just the basics that you can implement right away.

Mobility/Flexibility/Torso

High school wrestlers between about 14 and 17 enter a stage where we must fully warm up the torso while increasing hip and torso flexibility and mobility.  This helps increase speed and power on the mat because the core and hip muscles realize their full range of motion that often get compromised at the high school level for boys.
