Martin placed at Missouri Open

Topic ID: 4352 | 8 Posts

Elliott Martin placed 5th in the Missouri Open this sunday for Lindenwood. Not yet sure who all he wrestled, but I know Missouri, OU, Oklahoma St, Illinois, Cal Poli, and a lot of other tough schools were there. The first of many good showings I expect. Great to see Kentucky wrestlers mixing it up with the best. Good job bro :-D

Is Martin in the starting line-up for Lindenwood or is he red-shirting?

Congrats Elliott

Elliot Martin wakes up in the morning and eats a bowl of nails with motor oil, then he goes and works out at the local autoshop benchpressing honda civics. The only way he stays eligible for sports is he bullies the heavyweights into doing all of his homework for him.

He's not in the starting line-up, but I don't know if he's red-shirting or not.  He placed in the freshman/sophomore division at Missouri Open, which is still tough, but my guess is he is most likely red-shirting.  The guy that's supposed to be starting for them at 125 won 133 at the Lindenwood Open and looks to be pretty nasty.

Elliott is not red shirting this season, he beat out senior 125 Danny Morreale at the LU open. John Olanowski was dropping to 125 but broke his foot last weekend. The guy that won at 133 was Ray Stephens, he is the 133 not 125. Stephens is the defending national champ at 133, and yes he is very nasty. With Morreale out, Martin is the number 1 man at 125.

I misunderstood what you wrote, I thought you were talking about Stephens, but you meant Olanowski. Yeah, he's amazing, he's a senior that transferred from Missouri this year. If he does make it back, he probably won't be going 125.
