My name is Corey Ruff, and I was recently hired to be the first Head Wrestling Coach at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky. I have been coaching our great sport for over 12 years, and doing so at the collegiate level for the past five. Most recently, I was the Assistant Head Wrestling Coach in the wrestling rich state of Iowa at Ellsworth Community College. Prior to that, I spent three seasons in the same role in my home state at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Now, I look forward to building a powerhouse NAIA wrestling program in Kentucky.one that challenges for a national team title on a yearly basis.
I look forward to meeting all of you during the season, but I wanted to start the communication process with a mass email to every coach in the state. I believe it is an exciting time to be at LWC. The campus is expanding a great deal with new housing complexes being built, and a complete overhaul of the athletic facilities. We are currently building a $17 million Health and Wellness facility, and 5,000 square feet of that will be for the wrestling team's practice and locker rooms. Inside the same facility we will have a state of the art weight room, swimming pool, indoor gymnasium/running track, and cardio facility. All I need now is about 30-40 wrestlers that are committed to the sport, and have a desire to enhance their education.
I'm not too familiar with the area yet so any advice would be appreciated. I have been unsuccessful in finding a composite schedule, so I have no idea when and where the tournaments you compete in are located. Send me your schedule if it's not too much trouble. Don't hesitate to give me a call with any questions you may have, and I'm sure I will have some for you in return as well. And if you just want to talk wresting please pick up the phone, but don't get too discouraged if I ask you to repeat yourself once in a while.I'm adjusting to the southern accent.lol.
