Woodford Co. 35 Tates Creek 27

Topic ID: 4517 | 31 Posts

Very good dual. Tates Creek forfeits 160 and 171. Woodford Co. forfeits 112 and 189. The difference was at 130 where TC's had Woodford's pinned on a mixer, the Woodford guy got out and turned around and stuck him for the pin, great intense match. TC has really improved over the last couple of years and Woodford is Woodford.

Two big matchups Kasey Hedges had a beautiful stack defensive pin on Travis K. and Steven Kimbrell beat Bryan Thompson 4-2 in the TC vs. Franklin match.

the 130 from tates creek did have the kid in a cement mixer and almost pinned but he didnt get pinned it was 6-16, the 135 got pinned

ah, ok, a huge point swing none the less.

travis was winnng 12-6 before that pin

Travis K. had Heges on his back several times and was winning the match.  He got caught (kinda) and it was an EXTREMELY quick defensive pin call. I thought it was too aggressive of a call for HS kids.

Woodford has a long way to go but they still dominate their region.

That was the second time Woodford had been put in that position and they certainly did not dominate Tates Creek. Woodford Co. is still the best team but the margin has lessened in the last couple of years.

I meant the domination continues (not by a big margin, though). The last time Woodford lost their region these kids wrestling today weren't even born.

Actually they lost to Dunbar like 2 yrs ago in region duals and at the region tournament

winning isnt dominating, you sound ignorant when you say that.

plus travis is a funky wrestler that can really only hit throws and rolls i would say if a good technical wrestler goes up with travis that he will likely not score many points

Winning WAY WAY WAY more than you lose is dominating, despite the score.

Sounds like you got beat one too many times by a WC wrestler, or should I say got dominated?

Woodford Co. does dominate region 7. They did not dominate TC yesterday.

Travis wrestled a great match, and i wrestled an ok match. he tilted me a couple times for a couple quick backpoint calls for two points here and there, but i was never in any danger of getting pinned, they were just tilts. i had travis on his back twice, one time he fought off his back, and the other time he was pinned. Both of us wrestle extremely funky, so to say he got caught would be a mistake. i look forward to wrestling him again in the future. it was a good match, none the less.

i think travis k is better than him and just got caught on a bad call

i think travis k is better than him and just got caught on a bad call

the call was right he rolled on his shoulders and stayed their longer than he should have that was is fault plus who roll on to their shoulder and stays their long enough to get pined a good wrestler dose not do that

traivs is just a funky wrestler but next time he will pin him

Based upon what???

based upon travis will throw him

Travis k. From woodford was destroying casey the whole match

Then casey got a lucky break

thats wat iam saying man travis will pin him next time

We don't have to think back to far to a state finals match where a prett well known kid from Wayne County was getting beat pretty handily until got a break and took advantage of it to win his 3rd state title.

yes but ranger traivs k is better wrestler than that one person was haha but traivs is at a better levle that that one time

I assume that is a joke in reference to Sullivan and I guess we'll have to wait until the next matchup to see who is at a higher level.

I don't know if these two are comparable in that regard.  Travis K was in the dominant position and dominating the match when he was called for the defensive pin (which was very quick I have to say).  Travis Sullivan was getting beat by DC Evans and then either got a takedown or started on top and emphatically pinned Evans pretty easily with a double arm bar.

BUT, he ended up in the top position only after Evans got overzealous and went for the pin with the guillotine rather than holding him on his back and riding out the win.

exactly. and i will admit, travis is a tough wrestler and i def wont overlook him like i did at the duals next time we wrestle, but he will not pin me. especially with a toss, he may beat me by points if we wrestle again, but i don't feel he is strong enough, or good enough at throws to pin me. i look forward to my next match with him, he will be at TCI and so will i, maybe it will happen there.

If woodford sends their Varsity guys, which they may not.

yeah i forgot that they normally send their jv.

I think some varsity are leaning towards going, kasey. Its ultimately up to the coaches, though. I hope they do so I can come watch. I'd like to see you and Travis K again and maybe Logsdon v Zarth again (btw they will meet again tonight in the finals, Mack pinned his semis opponent).

Zarth pinned Logsdon tonight at WCI

I still think they're different.  Travis was caught while still in the offensive position.  You can make the argument that he should have just stayed on top and rode out for the win but it was a close dual and that extra team point would have been valuable had Creek's last two weights wrestled.

By the way why didn't Creek's last two weights, I forgot which ones they were, wrestle in that dual?  Were they out the whole tournament?

Both were injured in the Franklin Co. dual.
